  1. Just removed the bandage and thought I would give some pictures of the donor area 24 hours post op. Was quite painful removing the bandage lots of yellowy looking stuff on it. Head still feels really tight. Hope that's normal.
  2. Hi it is a very daunting experience having a HT and no clinic I know of will guarantee a result. You can only do you due diligence and research, research, research and find a Dr. you trust to work on your hair. The longer you leave it especially without any medication regaine finasteride etc the worse your donar will be. That's just my opinion. Hopefully someone with more experience can give you the answer your looking for. But sometimes we regret not taking action. Personally I've had my HT yesterday. I was considering it for long enough and I'm glad it's done. I've no idea how the end result will be but fingers crossed its the result I want. But sitting in the Drs office they do make you sign a form acknowledging there is no guarantee.
  3. Long time lurker and first time poster. After considering a HT for years I finally took the plunge and went with Dr Arshad from The Hair Dr. His reviews spoke for themselves and location was a bonus. I'm only half an hour away. I had considered asmed clinic Dr. Erdogan in Turkey but some reviews are hit and miss. As Dr. Erdogan himself doesn't do any of the actual operation or so I understand. I had also considered Dr Acar from Cosmedica but Dr Arshad from The Hair Dr was the one I decided on. A bit of history. I first noticed my hair loss around the age of 19, 20. But after reading up on it I felt I was too young to do anything about it surgery wise. I've always avoided finasteride due to the side affects so started regaine over 10 years ago. I'm 35 now and thought its time for surgery. Hair loss had increased and I'm now probably a Norwood 4/5 Back to the HT The first consultation I had was with the practice manger over video call. She was very professional and answered my questions so I didn't feel the need to speak direct with Dr Arshad. I was asked to be at the clinic for 7am. On the morning of arrival I was met by a very smartly dressed Adam who was on reception he got me a couple of breakfast bars and a glass of water. Before it was time to go see the Dr. Once we had discussed why I had wanted the HT and he had looked through my hair he was straight forward and said I should break the surgery up in to two stages 2000 fue at the front and a year later 2000 fue at the crown. In hindsight I should have listened but being their I just wanted to get it done and opted for 3600 for the whole head ( I have a small head lol). Dr A drew on a line to show me where my hairline would be. I thought it was conservative and wanted it more lower and straighter but he explained the look wouldn't be natural and he was right. We had pictures taken and I was given two paracetamol and a diazepam. Then went to get changed into a gown and have my head shaved. Once this was done we went to the surgery room. Blood pressure was taken and I was told to lay on the bed as Dr A then began the process of inserting the anaesthetic. I'm not going to lie it was painful. Some describe it as a scratch but its a needle being pushed into your head!! Apparently I have a sensitive scalp but thankfully the pain was over quickly. I can't remember if they also injected a saline solution to help raise the skin I know this was done at the incision stage but can't remember if it was also done before extractions. Dr A started the extractions with a 0.8 hole punch I think it was. This took the whole morning and the count sheet said 531 singles 1654 doubles 1502 multiples Then it was off for a lunch break where lunch is kindly provided. Back to surgery and its now time for the incisions by Dr A before the technicians place them inside the scalp. Three lovely ladies were working on me and all seemed lovely and professional. I was offered netflix and tried watching a movie but getting on in the day I was getting tired. The technicians did ask me to tell them if I needed more anaesthetic but I wanted it to be over that I just worked through it. Probably the last hour of the placement stage was the hardest. Definitely not the wisest of decisions but thankfully the placement pain was no where near as bad as having another anaesthetic put in. It was 7pm by the time we were done. Time to get changed into the button shirt I bought along. T shirts are not recommended as you may disturb the new grafts when you pull it over your head. I had a final chat with Dr A and some more pictures were taken before given a goodybag full of medicines for the week ahead and a months worth of finasteride. The bag of medicine comes with a really handy foolproof explanation on what to take and when. I'm on day one post op and I will try to do monthly updates. I hope I have covered everything but if you have any questions just ask. All the best on your journey. B.A.
