  1. thats great osidekid. One for propecia. and im sure there would be others like you. Ive just tried to highlight that there are equally a lot of people out there - who havent had a good experience with Propecia- its up to each individual My issue is that the producer keep ignoring the warning bells of so many--and don't provide more appropriate and up dated literature indicating the several side effects the drug has had on its users. But hey that may effect their business- its up to others to conduct studies -create forums- and lobby government -
  2. Perhaps you ought to look at this website before you go there PROPECIAHELP: Unresolved Finasteride Propecia Proscar side effects info & forum thousands of men have suffered from propecia- some very extreme side effects I used it and believed all the hype - but soon enough I experienced what suposedly only 2% do- side effects . I thought it was just my bad luck until I came across forums that were dedicated to having the drug banned and I realised how it effected so many users and how it messes with your bodies ability to produce testosterone. From my experience I would play it safe- but dont take my word for it -- get informed check the website above - heres a few recent email/s from the websites moderator REGISTER FOR POSSIBLE PROPECIA & PROSCAR USA CLASS ACTION or MASS TORT LITIGATION All, As many of you are aware, a class action lawsuit was recently filed in Canada (January 24, 2011) for persistent side effects from taking Propecia and Proscar for male pattern hair loss – CANADIANS, read details & sign up here: Class action lawsuit for Propecia & Proscar filed in Canada. All, This is Mew, Administrator of Propeciahelp.com I have been contacted by Meghan Dwyer of CBS News. They are looking to do a TV news story on men in Chicago suffering from persistent Propecia side effects, which will air in early May on CBS. IF YOU LIVE IN OR NEAR CHICAGO / NORTHWEST INDIANA AND ARE WILLING TO GO ON CAMERA TO TELL YOUR STORY, PLEASE CONTACT MEGHAN AT madwyer@cbs.com or 312-899-2250. YOUR PRIVACY WILL BE PROTECTED AS THEY ARE WILLING TO BLACK OUT FACES/CHANGE NAMES/ALTER YOUR VOICE. Time is of the essence as this story will air in the next week or so. Below is what she wrote to me, and how to get in touch. Thx Mew ------- EMAIL SENT TO ME FROM MEGHAN DWYER AT CBS NEWS: "We are looking to interview men from Chicago who have experience taking Propecia and experiencing adverse side effects. We will be interviewing men who have taken the drug and are experiencing sexual side effects even after stopping the medication…and we also plan to interview medical experts. The story is a broadcast story, and will be aired sometime in May. The interview would need to take place near Chicago on-camera and we are really just interested in men that live near to Chicago (or Northwest Indiana). Privacy can certainly be protected – we are willing to black out faces/change names/alter the interviewees voices. People may contact me via this email address ( madwyer@cbs.com ) or by calling 312-899-2250. The story will air in the next week or so, so getting in touch with us ASAP is important. Thanks so much and let me know if you have anyone in mind." Upshot- Im not trying to rain on anyones parade regarding propecia - but overwhelmingly - users are coming to the forefront to express their concern to the effect propecia has had on them - Why would there be websites like these DONT TRUST MERCK - sheshus -they produce and sell the product so its in their interest to support and affirm it and naturally deny there's any real issue- BUT the thousands that have come forward disagree Get a good HT surgeon - support that with rogaine- a topical application - but for your own sake - Dont use propecia opinions to the contrary invited- as this issue needs to be out there and debated so others can make an informed decision cheers
  3. HI Azn somehow I managed to lose most of my post whilst trying to copy one line no mind it went on too long anway im curious -21 days for sutures seems a long time I do agree that it is the result that is most important- I guess I was more thinking of those entering this for the first time where they dont often receive an honest account of the post op process-and often its questions of pain or whether it can be detected that holds some back However I agree with you and megstron- its the result that counts- and picking a good doctor is the best way to ensure that
  4. There has been lots of information on this forum providing great advice about HT procedures and experience with different surgeons in different countries around the globe I thought it might be interesting for fellow HT members to recall how they felt just after surgery. This may help others to decide, as possibly some of the biggest and most pressing concerns approaching surgery - is questions of: Will it be painful? What happens immediately after? and, How noticeable will it be? Obviously the ultimate outcome is the result of a HT which is the primary aim- There's lots of great evidence here. Id welcome other HT recipients to share their experience and thoughts immediately after surgery- as inspiration to others. cheers Fast forward
  5. good luck wb280- all will be fine though - great choice good question- one which I forgot to ask the clinic leading up to my booking. initially the doctors assistant mentioned it would be easier to shave some areas -where I had hair to transplant the grafts. I didnt want that at all- Dr Path said it wasnt an issue - but it would take a little longer to transplant- about 30 mins- I hour I think. I didnt notice as I was drifting in and out of sleep most of the time so you have the choice- I chose to avoid shaving some areas - as I was concerned it may make my hair look uneven- as id kept it longer as instructed before the procedure I had a hair cut one month after the procedure- no grafts detected by that time as the small hairs had long fallen out -grafts fine though under the skin enjoy the journey- best wishes
  6. hj guys a few others that may be worth checking out http://www.agoda.com/pages/ago...ionSearchResult.aspx in Chatuchak Abloom Exclusive Serviced Apartments, Bangkok 9 Phahonyothin Soi 3 .5 km from Ari Studio suite with breakfast $27 $USD I bedroom superior $33. USD Mystic Place BKK Hotel, Bangkok .7 km from Ari station ( although appears a little different) 224/5-9, 224/11-18, Pradipat rd., Phayathai, Superior room $52.00 USD ??“breakfast Grand Tower Inn Rama VI Hotel, 402 Soi Rewadee, Rama VI Road, Samsennai,Phayathai, Deluxe room with breakfast $40.00 USD looks good My advice would be to book for 2 nights- 3 max where ever you decide - then move on to a hotel more central in Bangkok-to enjoy the rest of your time- via The Skytrain. It depends on the individual but I wasn't looking for luxury - just a hotel close to the clinic- where it was comfortable and where I could stay the night before and the night following. I was lucky - My House was only 800 baht a night and fine-- There are lots of hotels further along the Sky train route- still making it easy to get to Ari station - then about a 10-15 min walk to the clinic. or- if your staying within the general area- cabs or tuk tuks -as Beach goer mentioned are fine to get you there- just allow a little extra time for the traffic - ( hotel reception should be able to organise transport from the hotel for you) Ari is a good suburb in Bangkok-lots of business and many Thai's work in Ari - hence its not really concerned with the tourist trade. you will find hotels in abundance further along the skytrain system big Allen - happy to post - just need the pre op pics from the clinic Best of luck next week Beachgoer-
  7. hi advisme I had a HT with Dr Path in Thailand-It worked out much cheaper than in Australia thats for sure- and from my experience -provided much better service and surgical technique I can discuss it with you if you like
  8. hi misionhair I do understand your concerns- and can assure you its natural- I certainly don't mean to make light of the effort it takes to decide to go forward as its not a simple decision-and your questions are a natural part of the process- I can tell you though, because i've been there- that you shouldn't worry yourself- because the procedure is safe- expertly performed and not invasive. to answer your questions 1. I left the surgery- after my procedure walked back to my hotel- bought a few music CDs on the way back to my hotel -checked my head -as is per usual- it looked ok- I went across the road from the hotel - grabbed a coffee- read the paper -I felt fine in fact I felt pretty damn pleased with myself Later I had dinner in the hotel restaurant then went back to my room and watched a DVD id bought- my head felt a little sore- and tight, but there was no aching or throbbing pain- I took the sleeping pills and pain meds- although I didn't really need them- and fell asleep and slept all night. The next morning I returned to the surgery- had the sutures examined- my hair gently washed- and was given instructions of how to wash my hair with baby shampoo- for the next week. I wore a cap which mostly covered the band that is left around the head to prevent any potential swelling. In hindsight a slightly bigger cap - or even hat would have covered it completely-so you could always have one packed. I didn't experience any swelling though - but complied with wearing the band for the next few days. I returned to my hotel ... I have to say that I became fairly quickly bored- I guess its natural to keep checking - the grafts - and feeling the sutures on the donor site - but you do fairly quickly- get over that So wearing my cap- I left the hotel - jumped on the sky train and went to Siam station- To my knowledge- no one noticed anything- from the hotel staff to commuters to shoppers- your just another person in Bangkok- and what's unusual about wearing a cap? Around Siam station ( 5-10 mins away) there are some big shopping plaza's- that the train station walking platform directly links to. I looked around- bought a few things and later returned to my hotel. There was a net cafe nearby so I spent a little time surfing the various hotels around an area id previously stayed in The next day I decided to leave the hotel and relocate at a hotel a little more central and more tourist orientated- This was easy- as there are so many hotels in bangkok- I think its really up to the individual- of what you do post op- I felt fine and didn't see any need to hang around my hotel- as once you've had your hair washed and the wound checked- you then don't return until the sutures are removed- I would have gone a little stir crazy just sitting around when there was no need I stayed at a hotel called My House which was across the highway from the surgery about .5 km away- easy walk. I paid 800 baht per night which is very good- the room was big - clean and there was a good restaurant downstairs where I could have dinner and breakfast. Unfortunately it closed a few days after I left - to make way for condominiums. I would chose one of Dr Pats staff recommendations or recently I was told by a future scheduled patient with DR Path of his research in finding a hotel called The Loft- which looks good, includes breakfast -and at 1200 baht-seems to be very good value. It may be in your interests to just make a 3 night booking-at a hotel reasonably close by- where you can walk to the surgery or take a cab one night for when you arrive- the night after surgery- and a final night the following day if you need it. That would give you ample time to check other hotels- become familiar with the Sky train stations and nearby hotels. I can assure you its not difficult- I had no idea of the sky train system when I arrived- I had previously stayed around Nana station which has many hotels -offering cheap to expensive rates. When I left thats where I headed- I found a good hotel- meet lots of fellow tourists, travellers and really enjoyed the remainder of my stay. If you have a week- im happy to recommend sites around Bangkok- I can send this as a private mail through the forum to avoid this response trailing on endlessly - which may bore others Im sure other past patients would have lots of suggestions too. overall I really don't think you'll find you need or want -to sit around in your hotel- bangkok is a great city - very easy to explore Good for you for taking the next step- and resolving your work issues- I can assure you - in 2 months time when your surgery is done- you'll feel great- and will understand what a lot of Dr Paths patients have been sharing on this forum for a fair while now that there really is little to worry about- and that the experience will give you back more than just a better looking scalp best wishes- and if I can assist any further -by all means fire me any question
  9. Hey PathsPatient well done on your surgery with Dr Path. Great to hear your now enjoying your time in bangkok and Thailand as you deserve. What a wonderful place best wishes to you
  10. way to go ultimate good choice - you wont regret it The hotel I stayed at in december which was near the surgery unfortunately has now closed to make way for redevelopment. Realistically as long as your hotel is reasonably close to a sky train station its fairly easy-(as the train system runs like clock work in Bangkok- on a par with London's underground-which in my experience 10 years ago was very impressive) to walk from Ari station to the clinic . However be guided by Dr pat or his staff re- hotel: Another brother in touch from the UK mentioned The loft hotel -it looks good -reasonably priced and heres the link I was provided with www.bangkokloftinn.com. Best of luck with your surgery- if you want any further info - id be glad to assist
  11. Hi Mission - Dr Path is booked 3 months ahead so it was a little ambitious of you to assume you'd get a surgery booking in April- 6-7 weeks re early April. I hope you have luck in trading an appointment- Think ultimately if you want the procedure- which I think you do- you have to commit yourself to it- book it 3 months in advance- pay the deposit - and get organised. Dr Path is a quality surgeon and hence has lots of people booking for a HT. Given the surgery is in Thailand you have to realise that patients who live in many parts of the world book well in advance and only under under exceptional circumstances are likely to cancel or trade surgery times- given the airline tickets -hotel bookings and leave from work. This also makes it near impossible for Dr Path to readjust patient schedules. You may be lucky and someone may cancel- I hope you are. But excuse me for observing this- it does seem when reading your recent posts that its your uncertainty that is still the main issue. We have all reassured you- we have all been in the same position - we all- i'm assuming work amongst others and have initially shared that concern. However we have assured you that ultimately we found it was not an issue.- no one knows unless you tell them- and there are concealers you can use in the event you need to-which I would doubt Maybe try to arrange your schedule around May- if a cancelation doesnt come through soon- If not, book for December as soon as possible-like I did-9 months ahead- so they held the appointment, where I then paid the deposit closer to the surgery. If you really do want to do this - then you have much support-and we can assure you there's nothing to fear- if ultimately you decide against it- then thats fine too. Its really up to each individual. But if your going ahead- plan everything- well in advance- not just holidays or leave from work but importantly the surgery to sync it together. Good luck on getting a cancelation-best wishes
  12. I understand your concerns regarding the scar-though i'm not sure that everyone is trying to avoid FUT because of the scar- But if thats the way you want to go-FUE- then maybe DR Path will perform that. Sounds like you dont require too many grafts so if you did go with FUT the scar wont be too long- Also the double stiched closure ensures it will be a hairline scar. I had procedures back in the nineties- 2 scalp reductions -which thankfully surgeons no longer perform- as they pushed the limits of the post op pain barrier and a few HT- 10 years on- I wanted to cover areas that had thinned from my remaining existing hair. So ive been around the block a little- can compare surgeons from my experience - and know exactely what your mind is working through pre surgery Now days you have greater choice-different procedures and proscar and minoxidal However ultimately its up to you- if money is not a factor then go with FUE- if Dr Path doesnt perform this anymore- perhaps enquire why? i'm sure he would have a sound reason- if he does then go with FUE. The thought process your experiencing is normal- if you werent weighing this up- then you wouldnt be preparing yourself for your first HT. But I can offer this- dont over analyse - given the magnitutde of information online and this forum be informed-chose a good surgeon- ( which you have) ask questions - then settle on whats right for you. I dont think you would regret either- with the right surgeon- cheers
  13. hi I havent had a HT performed by either- but did have one from the former surgeon whose clinic knudson bought into in Melbourne - then the founder partner retired. I use Dr Path in Thailand who is really good -and highly recommended on this site. Id easily prefer him well over any surgeon in Australia for the following reasons 1. He is very experienced and has a great team of staff 2. The cost is much better than in Australia- I bought a return ticket - had 9 days in Bangkok- and was still well ahead of what I would have paid here The trip is easy- a flight to Bangkok- a taxi to the hotel- then a short walk to his surgery. The day after the operation I was site seeing around Bangkok- taking the sky train- around the city which is really convenient. I had a great time and wish I stayed longer if you want any further info- id be happy to let you know. I havent seen Martinick or Knudson recommended on this forum- so that may be some indication. Ive had 2 surgeons in Australia during the 90s prior to a more recent HT- But a little older and wiser- I researched thoroughly and found Dr Path as the best option. I had the procedure in early December and it was painless and the service was great, I was actually given a foot and leg massage by one of his team during the procedure Personally I wouldnt have another procedure done in Australia again- as the surgeons are not as experienced- and their prices are simply way too high hope that helps cheers
  14. Hi Wb280 been holidaying so apologies for the delay in responding to answer your question [color:BLUE]did you ask Cr Pat how come he stopped doing FUE? No Wb I didnt ask him that, From your question it sounds like he must have stopped doing FUE- but to be honest I dont know whether he has or not. I did check out FUE from the pioneer surgeon in Sydney- I have my share of scars already-and ideally would have liked to avoid another- personally I chose against it for the following reasons Its a very long procedure where a max of 500 grafts are really only possible in one day session- with more sessions over the following days if required. Secondly the cost is much higher given the time intensive nature of the procedure. Thirdly- the after pics I viewed didnt grab me- the transplanted hair looked very sparse- however this is only based on examples on the website and may not be fully representational of the outcome of others The upshot is obviously no scar- but from the after pics ive seen -the donor area does look punctuated with dots- this may change in due time though Another positive is that advances are allowing body hair to be used- ( obviously very helpful for those who have little to no donor hair on the back of their head) Ultimately scars fade and i'm not planning to shave my head in the future anyway- hence why would I be investing in HT-not all of us are lucky enough to have the head shape of Bruce Willis or the looks and hair line for that matter of David Beckam- the shaved head suits them- but not for me cheers
