i will agree with hairlust. i also had my procedure done with hasson and feel that he did an excellent job. my procedure was about five months ago and dealt with staples for two weeks. i have heard people leaving them in longer, but would advise you to follow the doctors instructions. i unintentionally caught myself waking up with my recipient area buried in the pillow. i was immediately stricken with panic, but in the long run it had no effect on my growth. i think you need to be cautious but try not to drive yourself crazy over the issue. some people have chosen to sleep in a recliner in order to keep head in place, others position pillows on the sides of the head so not to roll over onto the recipient area. i began washing my head normally at about 10 days. you will be tempted to pick the scabs on the suture line once you get your staples out and i would advise against this. the scabs will slough off on their own. there will be tenderness above the suture line for some time to come. after 5 months i still have some spots above the suture line with no feeling. it takes time to get total feeling back. unlike most, i didn't experience a lot of shedding with my procedure. i don't know if that was a function of the doctor or because of my individual characteristics. i am still fairly new to my procedure and anticipate further gains. p.s. how was the local anesthesia? the pain for me was unbearable.

i had my procedure done be hasson and wong. i never had a pattern like this in the frontal hairline. it is misleading to say that hasson and wong do this sort of thing. it is very obvious of the pattern in the above pics and wondered who would use such a prominent pattern in the frontal zone. there are ways to create a natural looking hairline without creating such a pattern.

thanatopsis it is not always the case where all the grafts fall out. i had a transplant three months ago and i had the same experience. i am at three months now and i still maintained the majority of my grafts without shedding. it is perfectly fine that you didn't shed all your grafts and in my opinion i would much rather keep the majority of my grafts than actually have all of them fall out.

it is very possible to see early growth. mine were virtually growing after the second week. i would say that maybe 40% of mine fell out if that many.

there is no way pain thresholds vary that much from person to person. i agree that there is some variation, but like one of the posters said it was a pain that i have never in my life experienced. it was a burn like no other. if i have another procedure i will be sure to load up on narcotics.

i think you look absolutely great for three months...there was a huge difference between the second month and third month for you.

i agree with that also pgp...this site is by far the best site for research and like Bill said there is no real remedy for such a subjective topic. if you do enough research on here you should have great results. i for one almost went with a less than stellar doctor and would have been extremely disappointed. many people jump into the decision out of desperation or lack of funds. the decision should be made with great detail. if you do enough of it you will find the perfect fit.

i think this site would be a lot more helpful if there was some sort of rating system with the doctors that are recommended. the drs recommended are in no way all equal. it is virtually impossible for them to be equal considering the subjective nature of hair transplants. i would suggest criteria being set up in order to be recommended. lost my swagger and pgp seem very insightful about the realities of hair transplants. they are a life safer for people with limited amount of funds and donor hair. because of this, very careful selection must take place in order to get the full benefits. i think that the "list of recommended surgeons" is very misleading in the sense that conveys that once you make it to this list as a doctor the patient should have absolutely no worries about proper results. i am in the camp who believes that the very consistent good to great results are coming out of a few doctors. maybe it is because i haven't seen a lot of the other doctors results or maybe because the other doctors don't post a lot of their results. like pgp stated it is much different going for a HT as a norwood 2 than a norwood 6. if you give me the average run of the mill tech i could make a norwood 2 look natural with 2000 grafts.

has anyone experienced shock loss near the donor region. i think i can see a bit of shock loss in my donor region, but can't be 100% positive.

i have heard varying ideas on when the transplanted hairs are actually secure. i have seen anywhere between 8 and 15 days. if the hair sheds before or in between this range does this mean that you are losing the hairs along with the roots. if you lose the roots along with the hair does this mean you actually see blood where the root was lost. can you possibly lose the root with no blood being present. it seems that all doctors would be on agreement as far as time frames of being able to perform various activities in regards to the transplanted areas. the lack of uniformity of opinions on when the transplanted hairs are actually secure concern me.

I remember a post not too long ago that gave a good procedure to find the total area of scalp that needed to be covered. I believe a doctor eventually chimed in and gave a good idea on how to do such a thing. I would like to map out my crown region to see how many square centimeters needed to be covered. If anyone knows where this thread is can you link it please. Lets try to make it a sticky so people can reference this.

i read on here where a guy had over seven thousand grafts in a single session with dr wong. i had around 4500 the first session. hopefully i can take more than a total of 5000 grafts from my donor region.

thank you for your response Bill. my doctor told me to go on avodart for a year and see where the crown area stands at that time. the approach to my hairline back to my mid scalp was conservative, which is what i wanted. i see people on here with three and four procedures and had no idea that you can actually go for that many. it seems to me that if you take chunks of flesh away that many times you will have no or little hair in the back at all. hard concept for me to really grasp.
