Since I had HT with 1325 grafts with Dr. Ron Shapiro last Aug 2010, it's been 4 monthes now. Here I attach update photo of my hairline. It is pleasant experience to see my hairs actually growing when I see mirror. Temple parts look good and though the frontal top has somehow low density for now, I believe it will get denser as time goes on. I heared that the new hair line formation goes on until around 8th month so I still have pretty much a way to go.

Thank you wb280. Yes, the hair loss occured right behind the grafted area. So the doctor is confused to decide if it's shock loss or alopecia areata. My guess is that it is at least related to alopecia areata, as it happend all of sudden (all those hair fell during a few hours) I have experience similar but less hair loss on the other side but not on the fontal area as I observed. Hopefully it won't profess further. I stopped taking propecia for the moment and will see how it goes and keep them posted as things change. Thank you.

I just talked with Dr. Ron Shapiro on this. He says it's usually unlikely to have this much shockloss where I didn't get grafted hair, cause I didn't get new hairs where I am now losing my hair badly. So he suggests it might be one of rare cases called Alopecia Areata. It's the case where my immune system react to external stress(HT for my case) and attack my own hair. For that case, the doctor will prescibe me a medicine. What is so wierd is, I am losing my hairs but it's not where I got my new hairs implanted, and it happened all of sudden so it was fine until yesterday but now the whole strip is almost gone. I hope it will go well and oh my god, why does this happen to me? This seems to be very unusual case.

Hi everyone, I had a HT surgery on Aug 3rd with Dr. Ron Shapiro. It was 1325 grafts. So far I think I have been healing well. I started propecia from a week ago and I removed the suture last tuesday. And I didn't experience any serious shedding or lossing of my hair. But today after noon, when I saw my hair in mirror, my old hairs (not grafted ones), especially on my right side, are falling like... crazy in a way that never used to. I am very shocked because I have never experienced such huge hair loss in such a short period of time. They just... fall off even though I didn't touch them, I guess I saw more than hundread hairs falling just today afternoon. As I remember it was fine until yesterday. I am attaching a photo. It is very shocking because most of my hair on pretty large area on my right side are gone, as it can be seen from the photo. It is not where I grafted new hairs. Can this be due to propecia? or is this shock loss? If this is shock loss, is it commong to loss this much hair on one day afternoon? I am so worried and paniced now. I now even worry about getting another HT to cover those newly balded area. OMG.. Many thanks to your opinion and experience.

I received pictures taken at the clinic. I had HT with Dr. Ron Shapiro on Aug 3, 2010. I planted 1325 graft with 662 1hair/graft, 662 2hair/graft, 4 3hair/graft = 1998 hair. The number of hair per graft is a little disappointing but the doctor said asians have typically lower density than caucasian. But even with relatively small number of grafts, I guess the area was well covered. I will keep uploading updated picutre in my blog and website. Good luck for all of you!

I have just received my surgery and am taking rest in hotel. Dr. Ron Shapiro did my surgery. One thing I was impressed was that he didn't want to implant too many grafts for the sake of patient, not trying to take too many grafts to raise the price. He seemed almost non-chalant to such issues. Operation itself was incredibly pain-free. I felt very small pinches when they injected novocain. But what makes experience a littlbe uncomfortable is that maybe the valium or the sandwich I had for the lunch made me dizzy / nauseous with minor headache. I hope they could provide with better launch option. Soon I will upload pre-op and 1~2day after op picture. Good luck for all of you. p.s. How can I make my webblog to show on Dr. Ron Shapiro's patients' webblog website? I can't find mine.

After considering a number of doctors, I decided to go for Dr. Ron Shapiro. The reason I chose him was that his hairline seemed very natural and it seemed that he could make distinctive change even with fewer number of graft compared to other doctors. One thing is that I first looked at hairloss blogs of his patients but there were not so many blogs of his patients, so at first I thought he was not that famous. But I found a bunch of result pictures on the forum from whom didn't make their hairloss blog so I suggest each of us to make blog. It's really helpful for getting a big picture and deciding which doctor to go. I expect to get 17~25 hundread grafts and my surgery is scheduled on August 3rd so I should from now on do the scalp exercise. I hope it will work fine and hopefully painlessly. In the picture, the black line is what I planned and yellow one is what the clinic suggested. I will need to talk with doctor how to design the hairline.

I have been researching various doctors and I am impressed by Dr.Keene's performance. The thing is, I sent her an e-mail yesterday and didn't get a reply yet. Of course I will wait a few more days but I would like to ask you if you have had a procedure with Dr.Keene, how did you contact her? And I am living in Wisconsin and I can't visit her clinic for consultation. Does the doctor do any phone consultation? Thank you!
