That is really good result for the guy who isn't on medication. I had my done 10 days back I am hoping it will work for me too!!

Any update on the results

I postponed this treatment 2 times now. it would be really helpful if everyone who took this treatment shares their experience. I am planning for PRP in next month or so. I hope PRP will not end up like Laser therapy.

I am using propecia from last 6 days half a pill daily. first 2-3 days I didn't have any problem. But from 4th day I feel slight testicular pain for some time. On 5th day it stayed much longer and 6th day it was almost there all the day. I don't see any other sides except the pain in testicles. I mailed my doctor regarding this one. he said I should give at least another week to see for the sides to go away if not I might have to consider to quit propecia. I think propecia is the only one thing that works for me since I had diffuse thinning and I don't think any other medicine will help my entire scalp. Not sure whether this is common with Propecia. Do I expect them to go away; if so how many days I have to wait. Any one of you guys who used propecia had this problem initially and went away after continued use? your suggestions will be so important for me in deciding whether to continue or stay on propecia. Hey Sam, I heard about people worrying non surgical methods like propecia because of side effects. Never heard any one complaining about HT. I would say go for HT then you don't need to bother about medications you are taking now. Pick a good HT surgeon and you should be fine. I started on propecia recently and hope it works with out any sides. Thanks Sunny

It would be nice if any one of the recommended physician can comment on this graph. I found this image on other hair loss forums. Not sure how many of you guys aware of this graph. This gives DHT serum levels for one dosage over 7 days period. And 0.5mg is almost as effective as 1mg. And DHT levels were same after first and second day does this mean we can take 0.5mg every other day with same benefits as Every day. since I don't see any fluctuations for 1st and 2nd day for 0.5mg dosage. Any comments on this one. Thanks in advance

Thanks rjnebbo for re posting the links again. With that data I see more questions in my mind. If we assume that .2mg is almost as effective as 1mg in reducing the DHT levels then how come lowering dose will reduce side effects. I think side effects will appear on how much damage the pills does to the system rather than how much amount we consume. So in saying if all the dosages between .2 to 1mg does reduce statistically same amount of DHT then body should react in the same way if there are any side effects no matter what the dosage is? I am sorry if you guys didn't get the point. Can any one comment on this one? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your input guys really appreciate it. I have few more questions. Which option is better 1mg EOD or half a pill every day; and Rogaine once a day. And also I am not that much worried about sexual side effects once we quit the drug I expect the side effects to be gone. But how about gyno; this side effect scares me a lot. If the body stops producing excessive estrogen ( due to increase in DHT) will this side goes away or it stays with out any enlargement from there. Can any one clarify this question. Half a pill propecia and Once a day Rogaine daily . Do this combination work? My doctor said Rogaine once a day will have same results and also half pill propecia will almost have same results compared with full dose. With this combination I think I can reduce possibility of any potential side effects. Any one using the same combo with maximum results? Thanks in advance

Hey Bill, I read this in one of the other forum sites that Rogaine doesn't stop shedding instead it grows hair with continued shedding. Is this true? Does it really stop shedding? Thanks in advance and Happy New year to all

I am using Rogaine from 2 weeks. It seems working I don't see any hair on the pillow or at my desk even when I run my fingers through the hair I don't see any hair coming out. But the problem is when ever I apply Rogaine all over my head and comb after 1/2 hr I see so much hair coming out( around 30-40) and that is 2 times a day which makes nearly 80. I don't know if this is normal. If so how many days it will further take to stop this. I am thinking of shaving head for a while and continue on Rogaine, but again I couldn't keep track of how much hair I am losing. This is quite confusing. Shall I shave my head and then continue on Rogaine or just use it with out shaving this way I can keep track of how much hair is falling. Please any suggestions are greatly appreciated Thanks in advance

HairDX Genetic test Did any one know about this HairDX genetic test? When I went HT surgeon in Denver area she suggested me this test if I want to know whether my hair loss is completely DHT related. Unfortunately this test is available only with prescription and none of the doctors in Denver area are registered with the company who does this test. Is this test gives actual results? Can any one please answer this one If hair loss is due to Iron deficiency is it possible to revert back hair loss? Does the lost hair grow back? Since I am Iron deficient I am wondering whether I can grew back my hair to previous start if not all at least half of what I lost.

I got my test results. My Ferritin levels are pretty low(13). My dermatalogist said this could be the reason for hair loss and also he mentioned to take Ferrous Sulfate 325mg pills twice daily. Until my Ferritin levels get above 70. He also mentioned about Free testosterone which is normal high. but he said that may not be the exact reason for hair loss( may be not DHT related). These tests were taken around 4.30pm. Will this one gives any low hormone results. Since my previous test which was taken around 9.00AM said testosterone at 869 which is high( now it is 677). I did start using Rogaine 1 week back. how many days it will take to get my ferritin levels up again. Can any one please look into my results and advice. Thanks in advance. Hi Bill thanks for that reply. I went to different dermatologist and this time was a pleasant visit. He verified all my previous test results and said could be Telogen effluvium or Iron deficiency since my MCV and MCH are pretty low (could be even MPB). He told me to start use Rogaine (As you mentioned Rogaine can be used for different kinds of alopecia) I started using Rogaine. I will take some photos and will post them, and also once I get the results will post them.

Bill, What does the following statement mean, I got this one in Rogaine product Description "Hair regrowth has not been shown to last longer than 48 weeks in large clinical trial with continuous treatment with 5% minoxidil topical solutions for men".. And also can I apply Rogaine 5% all over my scalp or just around vertex area. If I can apply hair all over the scalp should I increase the amount applied or just have to use the regular amount all over? Any one please advice Thanks in advance

I thought of using propecia, but heard there are more side effects and not sure how many days it will take for the side effects to go off once you stop taking the pill. Does it work stopping hair loss at sides and back? My scalp at sides is clearly visible. I am really worried of losing the hair in Donor area which will even take HT option out. If I stay on what ever hair I had I would be really happy. I would like to start with Rogaine and see how it works. And again Rogaine doesn't work all over the head; this is what my Dermatologist said. Please tell should I still consider using propecia or apply Rogaine all over the head. I am 23, male, Indian loosing hair from 10 months. I am loosing hair all over the head, I mean even at sides and back ( at base of the neck). I went to dermatologist and got some blood tests done. My testosterone levels are high. And she mentioned it was the reason I am loosing hair. I am not totally convinced with what she said. I can also see my MCV, MCH levels are low and also my RDW level is high. I think these levels show iron deficiency which can also result in hair loss. I am also thinning all over. Recently I noticed I can see my scalp on the frontal side. My maternal uncle is completely bald by the time he is 23. I am not sure whether my problem is Iron deficiency or DHT? And also Is there any test I can figure out my DHT levels. I am going to see another dermatologist this week. Does rogaine stop thinning all over the head? I am using Hair max laser comb from 1 month. Not sure whether it is working or not. And also can anyone suggest good dermatologist in Denver area who treats hair loss problem. I can hardly find as I am new to this area. Please any advise would be grateful.
