How many grafts did you get to your hairline and temples? I'm 4 months post aswell . Your hairline and temples look good though , if I could eventually get mine touched up similar to that I would be happy.

I've had 3500 added by hakan doganay over 2 ops (1st op results were poor)

During this op I had 1500 added (for density).

Yes, I saw, but my request was another, usually in Dr. Cinik's clinic, they take pictures even immediately after removing the bandages, that's what I would like to see.

No pictures taken immediately after surgery only the next day... I guess because I opted not to shave my head it's difficult to see the difference between pre/post picture

  3. Previously had 2 surgeries from Dr Hakan Doganay total 3500 front hairline and 500 in the crown

I contacted Dr Ciniks clinic and was recommended to have 1500 beard hairs transplanted in the crown and to use my remaining donor area to add density to the front (another 1500). Judging by the price (and unlimited graft) plus the drs reputation I went ahead and booked surgery for the 11th November 2019 opting for their most expensive package (DHI)

Arriving late on the 10th November 2019 close to midnight I was a little annoyed that my surgery had been booked in for the early part of morning on the 11th (told last minute) but wasnt too fussed or stressed having been through 2 surgeries before.

Arriving at around 8am to the clinic I had a short wait before going into a consultation with dr cinik. I was a little surprised that after being recommended 1500 grafts for the scalp based on pictures the Dr only recommended 500! And after trying to push him to increase the number of grafts added to the hairline he wouldnt budge and said it would ruin the outcome if too many were added. I disagreed having seen my previous results but took his advice.

Just to add and this is an important point, apart from the consultation the dr wasnt involved in my surgery at all (make of that what you like).

  4. Thank you for the advice steve, that really is good advice and I didnt look at it from that angle.. I think it might just be the width of the forehead that makes it looks so big and redesigning the temples would help frame the face.

I dont think the first design in my first operation was great but dr erdogan simply went over the smp I had done rather than designing his own hairline. I'm seeing someone on friday to get some advice and will speak to a few other consultants before making a decision.

    • Thanks 1
  5. Absolutely agree with you on looking good when older but hopefully by then I'll be married with kids and wont care as much! I honestly dont think I need to lower the hairline that much more to get the same look as 6 years ago.. but it does have a massive impact on how I look, I noticed the different from looking good in 2013 to looking old in 2014 (sorry to be vain) and I do believe my particular hairline has a massive impact on how I look.

Hair loss has stopped now so not worried about losing much more...

I've also got roughly 2000 hairs in the beard I can use for the crown so wouldn't be totally depleting my remaining grafts.

  6. Heres my current hairline top pic, vs hairline 6 years ago!

I had a rapid loss of hair in the front in 2013 and although the 2 surgeries have improved the hairline my forehead stills look massive! Compared to 6 years ago and does have a massive impact on the framing of my face..

I think a bit of work on the temporal and bringing the hairline down half a cm wont use up too many grafts? And to be honest I'm happy with a 0 on the sides.

On the issue of remaining grafts, call me naive but I'd rather look good now and worry about my remaining grafts later on on in life (and minoxidil seems to have halted any further hailoss) plus I'm a big believer that technology will allow graft cloning in the next few years.

Having a big forehead isnt a great look!

  7. I am now booked in for a 3rd operation with Dr Cinik in Istanbul to fill in the crown (he thinks 2000 grafts are needed using beard hairs)

and to lower the hairline which he believes needs a further 1500/2000 grafts using my current donor area.

I've sketched a rough area where I'd like the new hairline.. what does everyone think? Dr cinik said he can lower it by 0.5cm

  8. Final results 12 months after the 2nd operation by dr Hakan Doganay. Credit where it's due the final results look great!

2700 grafts october 2017 (500 used in the crown the rest in the hairline)

1500 grafts october 2018 all around the hairline

I was disappointed after the first operation but much happier after the 2nd restorative operation (which was done for free!)

  9. Ok 6 month update post 2nd surgery

    1st surgery 2200 grafts

    2nd surgery 1500 grafts

I've put the pictures in order (pre OP, 1st surgery and 2nd surgery post 6months)

    My thoughts...

Improvement- really good when compared to how it looked pre surgery

Cost- 3700 grafts for around £2500 which is very cheap compared to most (2nd surgery was done free to repair the 1st)

Use of grafts- maybe not the best as now I'm limited in future, what took 3700 grafts to achieve should really have been done with 2500, I started as a Norwood 2a and dont think it should have taken this many grafts to achieve the result

Overall- satisfied with the result but despite 2 surgeries and 3200/3700 grafts being used to repair the hairline it still has lots of gaps and I can not comb my hair back only forward so still going to need more work done!

It's only 6 months post 2nd surgery so may improve further...

Now I'm wondering where to go for the 3rd surgery and how many grafts I have left to use?

If you're opting for Turkey only look at Keser and Erdogan.  It's actually quite a area where the SMP and new hairline is,  Probably closer to 1700-2000 grafts in the hairline to meet native density and 1000 in the crown if you wanted work there.

Honestly not significantly different in terms of the numbers of your first procedure, your growth looks barely 25-30% so it didn't go a long way.

I know it's shocking the surgerys initial response was 'I shouldn't expect a teenagers hairline' when I asked them about my results!

I've paid alot of money for a very poor result but I want to see how much they will refund (or if they actually will)

  11. Hi all,

I've gone back to Dr hakan for a partial refund let's see what they say..

think I'll need another 1000 grafts at the front and may leave the back for now. What does everyone think?

Im planning to have surgery in september which is 11 months post transplant is it too early for surgery after 11 months? And can people recommend good drs in Turkey or anyone competitively priced in the UK?

    Please help

  12. I was lucky , Hakan was hanging on to being a named Dr on here , since then he's lost it.

Muslin was his rep , he repaid me then left a while after .

Do yourself a favour , do not go back.

As Jean says look at his list plus I'd add Devroye to it , do not rush !

Quite a shame because I found them very friendly in person but since the transplant the after care hasn't been great.. it feels like pulling blood from a stone trying to get advice of them post surgery.. the last email was very rude and gives an impression they just wanted my business and aren't really bothered about the patient after!

I'll wait until month 12 to see the final result and speak to one of those drs and do some more research on them.

  13. Great.. thanks I will do!

Reason for the low hairline was to match the SMP I had done previously.. and maybe it doesn't show on the pics but that's naturally where my hair was before the receding started ( I still had hairs there before the surgery)

My concern wasn't the hairline design more the fact that the coverage is only about a 40% improvement and if I comb my hair back you can still tell it's balding. For 2200 grafts I was expecting a better coverage. Or maybe some of the hairs just didn't grow back (or single grafts were used instead of doubles)

  14. Former Hakan patient here , poor crown result .

He did extraction and some placement , suspect he took his eye off the ball a long while ago .

Also suspect his techs arent up to it , i was lucky enough to get most of my money back but grafts are lost for good .

Nice people but i refused a free op after it with them.

Am I entitled to my money back if I get an average result? I may consider a 2nd op with another 1000 grafts to cover the front and get a fuller hairline (which is what I was hoping from the first op)

  15. Not really sure you can complain when you admit yourself Doganay's had major problems in the past. He's a butcher with more bad results than any well known surgeon in the industry, utterly silly to go to him at this point. That hairline design is a disaster as well.

4 years or so of terrible results now, maybe by the 5th people will figure out he's not worth the risk.

Hi interesting opinion.. can I ask how much your transplant cost per graft? And where's you would advise going with Dr Erdogan for a 2nd transplant? Does he perform the surgery himself ? (I was previously rejected by him)

  16. I wonder what's wrong with Dr.Hakan?

Few years back he was really good now its just a disappointment!

Is it the technicians who are doing the complete surgery ?

No the technicians did the extraction and Dr hakan did the implants .. they looked ok post results but I suspect not enough grafts were used (not really sure if 2200 were used judging by the results )
