  1. Hi Legend, Sorry for the late reply. The first transplant was a success for what I wanted at the time. It was only 100 fue to both sides of the center forelock. So 500 each side and it was mostly singles with a few twos.. so 1000 fue probably worked out about 1500 hairs. The plan was to always go back to Feller the following year but never did as I was happy at the time with the result. However now 10 years+ my forelock behind the previous HT has thinned so it was the right time to have that worked on otherwise I would have continued to loose hair and be left with two clumps of hair on either side with no forelock ha ha. It made sense for this latest HT to have FUE worked through the forelock and blended into the previous HT to strengthen. This time around it was over 1700 FUE, singles at the front but a lot more 2s, 3s and 4s further back which worked out at over 3500 hairs, more than double the previous HT. So combining the two I've had around 2700 FUE converts to approx 5000 hairs. Hope that makes sense?
  2. My Story starts 10 years ago.. 10 years ago I was 30 and had just over 1000 FUE with Dr Feller in Great Neck, New York. This was a small FUE HT to temple regions only to strengthen and widen frontal forelock sides, the procedure was a success at the time however, 10 years on and now in my 40s my hair has continued to thin behind the transplanted hairs and I felt the previous HT was becoming visible by separating from the original hair. 10 years ago I felt the UK was not an option for me to have FUE. FUE HT Results were very hit and miss, I spent a couple of years on forums and for every good job I found 10 bad jobs. Punch sizes were over 1mm and I just didn't feel 100% happy with the UK, and via the forums and I came across Spex who helped me a lot, hence I made the decision to visit Dr Feller. Now fast forward 10 years I felt the UK must now offer a good quality surgeon who could get great results from FUE. I visited various UK clinics, several clinics I ruled out straight away. But I did narrow my options to two clinics I visited I felt would both deliver a great FUE results. After more research and meeting the surgeons. I felt most comfortable with Dr Edward Ball of the Maitland Clinic in Portsmouth. Dr Ball, David Anderson and the rest of his team are very friendly and professional. Anyone considering an HT I would recommend 100% you visit this clinic in person to see for yourself. THE DAY OF SURGERY I'll start by saying despite a previous FUE HT I felt very nervous. I stayed in a hotel the night before which was 2 minutes walk from the clinic. Did my best to eat some breakfast and made my way to the clinic. I had to be at the clinic for 8am opposed to 7am as I had visited Dr Ball the night before to fill in forms, have head shaved and agree a drawn line on my head as to where the new grafts would be (I would recommend this to anyone else having FUE). Arrived at the clinic, got into a nice blue medical t-shirt, hair wash (well technically a scalp wash as the hair had already been shaved). From memory the procedure started around 9am with injections to numb the recipient and donor areas. Followed by a few test extractions using a hand held motorised FUE tool, apparently a true 0.9mm punch (outside edge to edge (not internal size)). Extraction test grafts went well so Dr Ball then made all the incisions in the recipient area, once this is done Dr Ball then goes back to the donor area to extract the number of grafts required. This was probably the worst part of the day. Not painful, its just a long time to be laying face down especially as I had recently just recovered from a cold. The afternoon was much better, I was sat up and under the watchful eye of Dr Ball his team of techs including Janna Shaffer (sorry forgot the other tech names) started the long task of placing the new grafts into the recipient area. The HT placement finished around 7.00-7.30pm followed with a post op meeting with Dr Ball giving me instructions for the following days a pack of goodies including a travel pillow, ATP spray plus a few more bits and pieces. The ATP spray was great over the following couple of days, it helped reduce scabbing and kept the recipient area very clean. The day was long but I was very well looked after, lots of snacks, drinks, there is a TV mounted on the wall with a range of movies or just music, choose what you wish, I found music better and just tried to chill out, I think I even fell asleep a few times in the afternoon. I'm now 2 weeks post op, here are pictures from before, during and the following days. Once again a BIG thank you to Dr Ball and his team at the Maitland Clinic. I hope this info helps some UK patients.. Total Grafts:1776 (1 Hair: 3778, 2 Hair: 1057, 3/4 Hair: 341
