  1. Bill, Latin Lotus, Curious Jungle George and Bobby, I posted 8 photos to an album today - I just don't know how to find the album on this site. Would welcome any pointers. Thanks gents, John K
  2. For Bill, LatinLotus, CuriousJungleGeorge and Bobby, This is my first attempt to load photos of the results of my first procedure (3,073 grafts) with Dr. Epstein on 4 Dec 07. I was a Class 6 and quite bald. The goal of the first procedure was to establish a good forelock. Had the second procedure on 19 Mar 09 (2,512 grafts). Goal was to bring hair back toward the crown area. Best wishes to all! John K

  4. LatinLotus, Sorry I missed your post. I am new to the use of forums and I also don't have time to review on a daily basis. I see there's a pretty tough crowd out there, but that's a good thing. This is serious business. As I responded to Curious Jungle George, I made a mistake on my dates (first procedure in Dec 07, not 08). I had my second procedure about 15 months after the first. Regarding Dr. Epstein, I feel he and his team did a great job. If my post sounded like an advert to you, it may be due to the fact that I did a heck of a lot of research before making a decision to go ahead with the first procedure. I really didn't want to end up with something that looked like a hair transplant. I have three sisters. It was actually a remark from one of them that prompted me to seriously consider a procedure. They're also pretty tough critics. They are all impressed with my results. I'm very happy with my results to date and my choice of Dr. Epstein. That's the information I have to share with others considering a HT. One other note to address CuriousJungleGeorge's question... I have not had any facial plastic surgery. I mentioned that Dr. Epstein is a facial plastic surgeon because that was one of many factors I considered in choosing him. I figured a plastic surgeon would likely do the best job of closing the incision after removal of the strip, and that a plastic surgeon would have a good sense for aesthetics, thereby providing the best possible result. As a retired Marine, I have seen more than my fair share of human suffering (and worse) and I have great admiration for the men and women who commit themselves to the medical profession. They apply their brains, hard work and considerable talent to help the rest of us and I greatly appreciate what they do. I have no doubt there are other great HT surgeons out there. My personal experience was with Dr. Epstein. I found him to be an honorable man with great skill who is genuinely interested in the welfare of his patients. As I mentioned in my first post, he has provided free care to children in need. That says a lot to me about his character. Best wishes, John K
  5. Curious Jungle George, My mistake. Chalk it up to my advancing age. My first procedure was actually in Dec 07. Second was on 19 Mar 09. So there was a period of about 15 months between the two procedures. Following the first procedure, it took about 2-3 months to see the new growth. By six months, I had a fair amount of hair. After one year, the results of the first procedure were maxed out. I had my stitches removed (from the second procedure) on 30 Mar 09 (earlier this week). Now I'm waiting for the newly implanted hairs to grow. I'm patient and figure it will be another year before I see the maximum benefit. I elected not to use any lotions to accelerate the hair growth. Again, sorry for the confusion on the dates. Once I figure out how to do it, I will attempt to post some before and after photos. John K
  6. I recently had two HT procedures with Dr. Epstein. I think he's great. My first procedure was in Dec 08 (3,073 grafts) and the second in Mar 09 (2,512 grafts). As a Class 6, I was more than happy with the results of the first procedure. Good coverage and natural placement. My biggest concern was an unnatural look. I had no need to worry. The small (1,2 and 3 hair) grafts and expert placement produced a very natural, undetectable look. Having just had my second procedure 12 days ago, I am looking forward to the new hair that will result. About 9 months after the procedure, I visited a dermatologist for some sun spots on my face. I told him I had had a hair transplant and invited him to look it over. His response was that he had never before seen a hair transplant patient with no visible scarring on top. BTW, the incision on the back of my head healed nicely with an almost undetectable scar. While I have no HT experience with other physicians against which to judge Dr. Epstein, I can say that I have seen a lot of hair transplants that look like hair transplants. Mine does not. I'm not shy about letting friends know about my hair transplants. Many have marveled at the results, including a friend's wife, who owns a hair salon and sees many men who have had hair transplants. I can say without reservation that I have complete trust in Dr. Epstein in terms of his technical and artistic talents, as well as his character. Both Dr. Epstein and his staff were thoroughly committed to my comfort during both procedures and the positive atmosphere in the office helped the time in the chair pass quickly. I did a lot of research before selecting a hair transplant surgeon and I am very happy that I chose Dr. Epstein. Not only is he a great HT surgeon (and facial plastic surgeon), but he's a humanitarian who has performed pro bono surgery on needy children. Please note that my only association with Dr. Epstein is as a patient... and now, a friend. John K (age 55)
