  1. Dear forum members,

This is the case of a 34 year old gentleman with a NW 4-5 MPHL who underwent a 3327 Grafts transplant in June 2021. He is currently on compounded minoxidil and finasteride. He has a family history of a similar pattern and in fact his brother had a transplant with us as well and I will share his results soon as well.

  2. I would consider staying on some form of maintenance therapy given your pattern. This can be even topical finasteride or oral minoxidil. Your crown might thin a bit more in the lower border so I suggest not to fill it completely in case it dips further. You can work on the areas of frontal zone and midscalp and possibly anterior crown (front part) to make it smaller. However, we have to keep an area that is thinner in case the lower part of the crown thins in the future- so it looks natural still.

  3. @BhebThanks for sharing your case. Considering your pattern and objectives, I would advise around 3500 grafts for the front and some of the midscalp areas. I don’t believe going for crown coverage at the moment is needed as you may still require some donor hairs in the future in case some of the existing native hairs are lost in front or midscalp. Considering that the front is what bothers you the most, you’d really want to maintain and preserve as much to be able to always have a good framing of the face and a good mid section.

@DrTBarghouthi - what are the odds that long term growth will be affected in the red area? Do you know what caused this type of bruising?

I don’t believe there will be any growth implications in the future. In some cases if an increased density is done in an area with slightly less blood supply, the healing can be delayed or the area can scab for longer giving increased crusting. Once the wash is done, that crusting reveals raw looking skin underneath so it looks more red with maturing granulation tissue. I would still cover it with antibiotics just in case as such areas with possibly delayed healing are more prone to getting infections etc.

  5. Dear community,

This is a 36 year old gentleman who had an FUE procedure done in September 2021 . His main concern is an incomplete and rather sparse beard over both cheeks and an obvious contrast between both cheeks and the chin area. He also had a main concern with how natural it can turn out and hence wanted a very limited number so as not to appear overly dense or obvious. He also wanted us not to elevate the superior border of the beard and remain within his current shape. Around 1200 follicles were extracted, but considering that only singles and doubles are preferred to be used, we trimmed all 3 and 4 hair grafts into singles and doubles too. A total of 1629 (1 and 2's) were transplanted on both cheeks. Results shown are 5 months after the procedure (Photos taken February 2022

    Surgical details:

Total : 1629 single and double grafts

    1's 690

    2's 939

    Average 1.57 hairs/graft

Sites made using 0.9 mm and 1.2 mm Sapphire blades.

    Hi 🙂

This is my first post here.  I’m happy that I found this place with so many people and information. I'm looking to get my first FUE hair transplant, but I find it very hard to navigate in this jungle of HT-clinics and doctors. I was hoping someone here could give me some advice based on my situation and what doctors/clinics they think I should contact. I have attached pictures and also a short video from Youtube that showcases my hairloss. It should only be available for people on here. My hair is 5-6 cm on top in the pictures and video.

My story. Im 39 years old from Norway. I’ve been on 0,5mg Finasteride for a couple of years now. My hairloss seems to have stopped/stabilized by using Fin.

    My problem areas:
    Crown area
    Weak mid scalp section
    Weak frontal region
    High temples

Based on the pictures/video, how many grafts do you think I need to fill in the crown area, do some work in the front and strengthen the mid scalp a little? Any estimate of what it would cost at a decent clinic?

I had almost decided to contact HLC in Turkey after reading some positive reviews on here. Then I read in another post that Turkish clinics are better suited for people with very very minimal hair loss so I guess this is not for me?

Now I'm considering Ferreira, Feriduni and Freitas that I’ve also read some good reviews about on this forum. Do you think I’m onto something with these? Are there other clinics I should consider?

I’m also curious how a consultation works since I’ve never done that. Is it usually done by video calls? How many consultations is it recommended to do before choosing a clinic?

Thanks a lot for any help 🙂

It's good that your pattern is stabilising at this stage on finasteride.

It does seem that you have a moderate loss in the frontal/ Ms and crown areas. I would believe that around 2200-2500 grafts for the FZ and MS would improve things a lot depending on how the hairline is drawn. The crown would also require around 1200-1500 grafts.

Your donor looks good and hair texture is also favourable based on photos alone.

I’m scheduled for my first HT in Nov, I feel I’m a very good candidate, check all the boxes but my only concern is I tend to have itchy skin sometimes, I am a body builder and I do take lots of vitamins, beetroot, And other supplements, my plan is to discontinue all vitamins about a month before my Ht as I know they do cause some of my itching and they thin my blood. Looking for advice on what I can do to help with the concerns of itching after the Ht, can I take Benadryl, any recommendations to avoid major itching of the scalp and how to support healthy healing.

I tend to use a combination if olive or almond oil, aloe vera and in severe cases anti histamines. Also avoid minoxidil for 3-4 weeks. If flakes appear then a ketoconazole or anti dandruff shampoo also helps a month after.

  8. Dear forum members,

This is the case of a 65 year old gentleman with a NW 6 MPHL who underwent a 2674 Grafts transplant in October 2021. He was a bit concerned about the naturalness of his outcome given his age. His donor was of average density and his donor had mostly 2 hair grafts. Given his case, we decided to tackle the frontal and midscalp regions initially and to wait for full growth before deciding on whether to stage the crown later or whether he will decide to add more  in the front given his hair density and his average hairs/ graft ratio. The results are 8 months after and it seems that we will be able to look into crown addition in the future. He is still deciding as he feels it gives him a more age appropriate look not to have it all filled yet. He is currently on Finasteride tablets on alternate days. I personally feel his donor area currently is better than before surgery and could be related to Finasteride. His donor before surgery somehow tricked me into being more conservative in his case with the numbers and coverage areas.

Excellent result, especially considering the small number of grafts used.

Do you have any post op pictures you can share so we can see the graft placement?

    Thanks in advance

Absolutely. This is a photos immediately post op day 2 (procedure was done over 2 consecutive sessions given it was over 2000 grafts). Considering the pattern, I did see that there was no good “value” in targeting the entire native dense areas for the time being and so we just went for the definite bald regions.

  10. Dear forum members,

This is the case of a 38 year old gentleman who had an atypical pattern of male pattern hairloss. It resembles female pattern loss to some degree. He was concerned about the noticeable contrast in his hair, with some areas looking particularly dense and then others completely bald. He underwent 2766 FUE grafts 12 months ago. He is currently on compounded finasteride/minoxidil spray.

    Total grafts: 2766

Hi all, I am currently living in Toronto, Canada. I do not have a hair loss problem on my scalp since I have been taking propecia from a long time. I am looking to fill in my beard more since I have a scar on the right side of the face. I have always kept light beard and trimmed mustache but recently due to covid and mask wearing, I was able to grow my mustache and beard. I kept on growing my mustache and found out that it has helped covering the lower end of scar which bothered me the most. I feel if I have more density in that area near the scar, it would help even more and would always keep the area covered without me even styling the mustache by hand all the time.

The area is small but currently I do not have enough density in that area. Adding more hair follicles in the area and then growing the hairs long, hopefully hide my scar at all time. Please guide me who would be a good doctor for this job? Locally, I found dr. Jones, dr. Asrai and dr. torgerson but not sure about them. Very anxious not to get the wrong person doing this. Please advise.

    Thank you for the mention.

Kindly share some photos to evaluate the matter. We do a good number of beards regularly as geographically a beard is quite in demand. Happy to help in anyway.
