  1. Just recently started looking into hair pieces, and I'm still kind of clueless. I'm looking to temporarily buy a piece until I save up money for a hair transplant or a better solution comes along.

The area that I want to over is about 3 inches back and 4 inches across in the front third of my scalp. Is it possible to buy a piece that small? Also I'm black, and it seems that most of the websites seem to carter more towards white people.

    Thanks for any advice

  2. I know, the price seems crazy for an injections of acell+prp. there are two sets of pictures on dr.hitzig's website. the pictures show decent results, but nothing amazing. the other is thing neither one of the patients is on any treatment like minox or fin, and it seemed like there hair loss was stopped with very slight regrowth.

  3. any new info on this subject. I started a weight lifting regimen this week, and wanted to know if I should increase the amount of dutasteride that I take. I currently take 2-3 (.5mg caps) per week.

I know weight lifting has no effect on people that don't have mpb, but I feel it has some negative effects on people with mpb like me. It just seems that a few weeks after starting a lifting program my hair seems to shed faster and my scalp seems tighter. This has happened to me twice in the past. This could just be my mind playing with me, but I'm not sure.

  4. I saw this on another site. It looks promising

Excerpt from the latest filing for Replicel (TrichoScience) at the SEC

» » "We received written approval to conduct the study on November 11, 2010

» » from the Georgian National Bioethics Committee. Biopsies from the 20

» » patients participating in the TS001-2009 study will be collected during

    » the

» » Innsbruck, Austria for processing. The study product will be ready for

» » injection into study participants about mid-February 2011. At this time,

» » participants will not only receive an injection of their replicated

    » cells

» » on one part of the scalp, but will also receive an injection of placebo

» » (cellular transport medium without replicated cells) on the other side

    » of

» » the scalp. This will allow for better assessment of the safety and

    » efficacy

    » » of our technology.

» » "We anticipate collecting data from the 6 month time point in early

» » September 2011. This data will allow for analysis of our primary

    » to

» » demonstrate in humans the safety of the technology. Our first trial has

» This company has a LONG road ahead of it.. and as Iron Man correctly

» stated/quoted, better solutions may emerge (or already have emerged) than

» this... but it's always great to have other approaches to fall back on in

» case things don't pan out as expected. So this definitely is good news,

» I've always liked the TrichoScience approach.. let's hope it brings some

» good results sooner rather than later

  5. Wanted to know if anyone had any info about Dr. Franklin Weinstein? He is located in Maryland. I had a consultation with him and I liked his work.

Also there was a member on here than had transplant performed by the doctor, but he hasn't logged in since 2009.

    Thanks

  6. Got this from another website:

'I had a thought. It has been concluded by Follica and Histogen when WNT proteins are introduced to wounded skin, an embroyonic healing state takes place and thus new hair follices are produced. Would it be possible to add these Wnt proteins to the Acell/PRP injections and then introduce this to the scalp?

I think most of what you would need would be in these 3 things.

    PRP-adults stem cells-growth factors

Acell-Helps adult stem cell return to an embryonic state during healing,Contains a host of proteins, growth factors, collagen ect.

WNT Proteins-What is needed to induce the formation of new hair follices.

Histogen is basing there experiment of Wnt Proteins and has show great results in the early trials

Follicas whole experiment is based on wnt proteins-They have tried in on bald mice and all have grown new hairs

So what im sayign is why not try this with humans with prodcuts that are both FDA apporved and with WNT which is a natural protein in the body.'

  7. Any of you guys heard of these injections being offered as a standalone treatment for hair loss? Dr. Hitzig in new york is offering these injections for $3000. Seems a bit pricey for something that is not proven to work yet. I was actually going to try it until I learned about that price tag.

  8. Mari, its does kind of leave your scalp slightly oily, and it also makes your hair slightly stiff like a styling gel.

Where you guys using dnc or dnc L? I got good results with dnc L. I recently just added the regular dnc. Too soon to say what effects it has on my hair loss.

  9. The crazy thing is that my grandfather basically has a full head of hair in his late 70s. Now my father and my older brother started to lose their hair in their early 20s. Right now they are probably a norwood 6 or 7, but they shave their heads so its hard to tell.

I'm really interested in having a procedure done with acell though. How many doctors are using acell with their transplants now? I know Cooley, Rassman, and Hitzig are using it. Are there any others?

  10. I've been using Spectral DNC L for over an year. I buy mine from the same place skinstore.com. I'm happy with the results from the product. I've recently bought the liquid spectral. Can't comment on the results as of yet though.

Only problem with the liquid spectral is that I've read complaints that the new formula isn't as effective as the old one. Who really knows those people who complained just may not be good responders to the product.

You should do a google search on the product. There is tons of information about it on the web and other forums.

  11. My whole thing is that I'm tired of wearing hats all the time in public. Right now I just want to have a hair line that I don't have to hide. I want to be able to walk around in public, and not feel self conscious about my hair anymore. That's why I feel a transplant is my best option now that I've stabilized my hair loss.

My regime is internal dutasteride 2-3 times a week, spectral dnc L(minox product in a cream)usually twice a day, msm powder mixed with vitamin c, homemade laser device.

Over the last two months I have added 2% ketoconazole cream twice daily, 2% Miconazole Nitrate once every other day. The last thing I've added dutasteride topically mixed with my minox (liquid spectral dnc) once every other day. The caps dissolve very quickly in the minox.

I use all generics except for the spectral , so the cost of my regime is pretty low.

  12. I'm 24 and I've stabilized my hair loss with generic dutasteride and spectral dnc l. I have attached two pics. The first is from a year ago, and the second is from today.

Last year I was told I needed a minimum of 2500 grafts. Do you guys think I could get decent coverage with a minimum of 1500 grafts now? I basically just want to fill in my temples, and I have no hair loss in the crown area. I know the second pic is poor quality.

    Thanks for any advice.
