Hi
Long term minox and fin user but has always been minox as a foam or liquid, usually Target or Kirkland etc and Proscar tablets chopped into 1mg tablets.
In the UK we had a company called Freshman which has now been bought out by Hims, they are selling the minox and fin 2 in 1 topical liquid but I'd like to know how effective it is?
I presume the minox is just as effective as any other liquid minox but how much of the fin will be absorbed topically compared to orally?
Will my intake via the back of my head give me 1mg of fin as if I were taking a tablet? If it's less effective then do we know how much mg of fin I am absorbing?
Also is there likely to be a period of shedding changing from my current regime to a new one?
solution is 0.05% fin and 5% minox
Thanks

Hi
My HT journey started 15 years ago with FUT for some eyebrows. Obviously way before this forum or much other info online so it was a bit of a gamble
In the passing years I’ve had FUE twice (3000 grafts and a top up) and now have a full head of hair.
However I’d like to top my eyebrows up with FUE.
I probably need about 100 each side and I am happy to pay the going rate of around 3 to 5 £/$/€ per graft.
The trouble is most reputable surgeons won’t be interested in a half day op that only generates around $1000.
Any ideas of who I might approach.
Worldwide travel is not an issue.
thanks

It is usually for the native hair. However, there are some studies showing the effect of Bimatoprost (Lumigan and Latisse) on scalp hair including donor hair and even Alopecia Areata. So there could be a stimulatory effect on donor hair grafts too as it works through another pathway other than the hormonal androgenic path.
Thanks DrT!

@Melvin-Moderatoranswered your initial question. As for growth treatments for eyebrows, many doctors use bimatoprost eye drops (brand name Lumigan) as an off-label use topically. It is FDA approved for eyelash growth, but it is being used on eyebrows too with good effect.
Would Lumigan work if the eyebrows have been created due to an FUE procedure?
Or is it only going to work in native eyebrow hair?

I would clarify how much better these rates are locally?
Presuming you have paid a deposit I am guessing you may have around ?6k to change over.
Do you really want to be walking through bazaar's to find a good rate and then producing a big wedge of cash as onlookers see you change it then shove it back in your bag?
There are many messages on here from people worried about taking the money overseas and getting safely to the clinic with it - im not sure I'd want to add the risk of walking around town with it.
Maybe, I am being over cautious but I think you should only consider doing this if you have a massive conversion advantage to make by doing it locally.

Thanks for this update.
I think you hair looks great and at your age I woudnt have a transplant now, rather keep your donor bank for a future day.
If you need it in the future you will be gutted that you used it on a top up just to find a little bit more perfection.
On this point...
"Density - day to day this looks fine when my hair is styled, but I do notice it looking like it’s thinning a little if I’m under harsh light (like those little recessed ceiling spot lights). "
I am nearly at month 8 and find this too. I can see my scalp now under the same harsh light you describe in areas where I am sure I couldnt before the op.
So like the top centre of my head I now see scalp in certain lights, more so when my hair is wet.
Of course in the recipient area I see more scalp under harsh lights, I am hoping this gets a bit less as times goes on.

I’m just going back for a 12 month check up and to hopefully schedule my second procedure. This isn’t mandatory, I just thought it best to do it and would be nice to see the team again.
I’ve paid for it myself yes and they have sorted transfers for me. I guess it depends if you wanted a second procedure or are happy with your results. I can see that I’m going to need some added density across the hair line to be able to style my hair the way I want too.
Makes sense if you are intending on having a second procedure though from your latest pics I dont think you need one!

It can take up to 18 years or even 2 years to see your transplanted hair return to the normal visual state it had before the trauma of transplanting it.
No one will likely notice but you, so don't fret.
18 years!!! I trust you mean months lol
Any tips for the wiry hair regarding styling?
Do fibres work well on wiry hair?
I’m finding that if I use a soft wax or putty I can bind a few wiry hairs together and it gives an appearance of more normal looking hair.
-
2 years - wow a long way to go then.
I’m very happy so far just wish I could fast forward my hair 18 months ahead.
Hopefully by choosing Dr Koray and paying a premium over many of the other Turkish options I have negated the risk of damage from inexperienced or less qualified practitioners and that things will be ok.
Just a big waiting game.....

From your photos your hair looks pretty good and I would be satisfied with your progress after 7 months. By 18 months your transplanted hair should look much more similar to your native hair so I think it's just a waiting game. The worst part is over for you so you should be pretty happy!
Thanks. A bit of reassurance is always good!
Yes, Asmed said at the op that the final result would be 18 months away and it just seems to be going so slow. I pretty much wrote this summer off and tried to stay out of the sun and away from social gatherings.
But now with some careful styling I think I can get away without people noticing or maybe they are just too polite to say!

Ok, so the word would be wiry in this context. I just appreciate this forum is read internationally and wasn’t sure wiry would be the right word - it doesn’t even look like it’s spelt right! But wirey looks wrong also!

Hi
I’m at month 7 after 3200 at Asmed and feel things are going ok - of course it’s painfully slow but hopeful of an eventual good result.
The front inch of my hair is a completely different texture to the rest, it’s wiry and wispy, I understand this is quite normal and have seen other results with this wiry hair.
I’m just curious how long it takes for the transplanted hair to come through to match the rest of your head and no longer look different?
I presume the first cycle comes through wispy but as times goes on it comes through thicker?
Thanks

Hi again
Just caught my eye that you are going back in December for a visit - what does this entail?
Do you just fly in for the day? Or stay over? I presume you are paying for the flights (and hotel if required) yourself but Asmed are taking care of the transfers?
Is this your own initiative or have Asmed asked you to go back?
I suppose a post op check up is normal in most walks of life but its just the flight to Turkey and not going back to your local hospital that is the difference here.
Ive sent my 6 months pics to Asmed and they want more at 8 months and I am just wondering if I should visit in person?

Thanks for your reply and yes its hard to gauge someones itchy sensation/tightness with someone else.
Mine hasnt started to subside yet so I am hoping that means there is much more to come through, it certainly feels like hair is wanting to burst through my scalp (if it was ever possible to imagine that sensation) but I will keep positive that the best is yet to come.

Hey, I think I get what you’re talking about and if we’re on the same page, then I still get that a little. It’s kind of a tightness that you occasionally want to itch, or at least that’s what it feels like to me. Now at 6 months I’d say there is a very strong possibility it’s growth related. But it’s akaa hard to know as people vary greatly. I got really strong growth around months 4-6, but there are others on here that really didn’t see their hair growth kick in until 6 months and after. For me at 11 months I’m not 100% sure. It’s less pronounced so I switch between thinking it’s growth or just dry skin. It’s become hard to notice, but I think there has been a slight improvement in the last 2 months so maybe it is related to growth.
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah a tightness that you need to itch sounds about right, its not particularly unpleasant and I just hope it means things are going on under the scalp - as in more hairs are developing and finding their way out.
It would be nice if it eventually subsides but while I think it means things are still happening then I am happy for it to need the occasional itch.

Hi
Ive asked this question of JustJax also but would like your thoughts as well please.
Im just over 6 months since my 3200 Asmed procedure and have question.
I still have a sensation under my recipient area, its quite pleasant! Feels a bit like a compact tightness under my scalp (sorry its really hard to explain) but in a way it feels like its hairs that are still trying to find their way out onto my head - which I hope is the case.
Did you find you had this sensation and did you find it stopped once you thought around month 6 or 7 that all your transplanted hair had come through?
Im trying to work out if this feeling is a good thing as it means hairs are still to come through and once it starts to go then most of the hairs have come through.
Thanks

Hi
I'm 5 weeks post FUE op with ASMED and its starting to get warm and sunny here in the UK.
I won't lay out and sunbathe at all this year so I give myself at least 9 months away from laying in the sun but its the walking round that I am concerned about.
If I wear a 50 SPF cream (I bought a baby one as I presume it will be less sensitive) and then I wear this hat which is UPF 50 should I be ok to walk around in full glaring sun for a day?
thanks
Rich

Ive been using minoxidil for many years and recently couldn't get my usual generic 5% brand so I purchased the branded Rogaine version.
The instructions caught my eye as it says to be used by men aged between 18 and 49.
As I am now 45 and heading to 46 I wondered why its not supposed to be used once you reach the big 50?
Is it deemed pointless or dangerous after 50?

thanks, will take a look but would still like to know if there's any official data showing topical fin is as effective as oral
