  1. I just updated my blog with some nice quality pics of the day of the procedure. FU Strip 3056 total grafts. 672- 1's, 2144 2's, 240- 3's. Donor strip was 1.2 cm wide by 24 cm long. trichophytic closure with a running stitch. Some additional dissolvable stitches inside for additional strength. 1917 grafts were placed in front 1/3 at 40 grafts/cm; 780 grafts per placed in the middle 1/3 at 25 grafts/cm; 359 grafts were placed in the crown at 10 grafts/cm.

  3. Nyfan21 I had strip and got back to the gym after 10 days. FUE may have a faster recovery schedule but check with your doctor. I know that the first time I visited the crapper after HT i felt as if all the grafts were being pushed out of my head along with copious amounts of blood (none of which was actually happening thank God). I would at least wait until sutures/staples are removed.
  4. Any updates as to how your HT has progressed? I went early in March and would love to know how your HT with Dr. Ross turned out. PS - More cowbell !
  5. Tophers I too went with Dr. Ross exactly 1 month ago (time to update my pictures) excellent experience as well here except my sutures were removed back in florida and that was not very enjoyable at all. I went back to the gym 10 days after the HT. Worst part for me is loss of sensation at the back of my head (makes resting your head on benches or situps a little weird). Every day the donor area feels less tight but still a bit sensitive towards the left and right edges when i touch it (and yes you are drawn to it somehow and end up touching it alot!). Dr. Ross is an excellent seamstress though. I am glad you too had a great experience in San Diego. Wasn't his staff wonderful?. I am hoping the results a few months from now keep me posting happy thoughts about the HT.
  6. I had assumed that when you said you sent pictures from a "nice camera" that they went along with the email. my bad. I guess I would have called the office a second time if I was truly concerned. but that's me and I do appreciate you sharing your experience. if anything it tells us that forum postings are not a very reliable method by which to reach Doctors. Also remember that patient/doctor confidentiality sometimes comes into play over the internet (I am not suggesting this was the case here) as they (Doctors) can't always be sure the person on the other end is who they say they are. there.. thats 4 cents now.
  7. Wow I had a recent HT performed by Dr. Ross and can honestly tell you that he and his staff were always responsive and returned my calls and emails in a timely fashion. Certainly I don't see, based on the amount of effort you put into actually contacting them (1 botched phone call and unsolicited email with a likely very large attachment that may have been blocked as SPAM), why you would post a warning about Dr. Ross my 2 cents.
  8. not using it but I find it quite telling that the picture of the guy who created the product Dr. Pickart from Skin Biology is quite bald himself. Dr. Pickart Pic
  9. I believe the number came out to 3000 and was done Thursday March 5. so just a couple of weeks ago. I'll put up some pre/post pictures tonight like you suggest.
  10. After years of considering hair transplant surgery I finally made the plunge. It seems now that, given the US economy how it is, quality doctors in the states can be found for prices similar to and in many cases lower to those found in countries like Brazil and elsewhere. I live in Tampa FL, and while it is home to a Gold Follicle Award hair restoration Doctor, I found his rates were still quite 'pre-recession' and seemed unwilling to budge much. After interviewing several facilities across the country I settled on Ross Medical Hair Restoration in beautiful La Jolla Ca. The total net cost of the procedure, travel, hotel, car and meals was still attractively less expensive - and I got more grafts to boot- than staying local for me plus, more importantly it stayed within my budget. (BTW - If a facility is trying to tempt you with beaches and sun (Dr. Ross does not do this but several doctors in Florida and Brazil do) - don't fall for it since after your surgery you will generally want to avoid pools, swimming and sunlight. However, the temperate climate of La Jolla is certainly ideal.) Without sounding like a paid advertisement their staff was nothing short of exceptional in every way -very professional and caring. I flew in on a Wednesday after having arranged the surgery dates and travel arrangements through Nicole via email. I had a brief consultation with their staff and Dr. Ross that afternoon and returned the next morning at 6 AM sharp for the start of the procedure which lasted till shortly after 8 pm that night. I was the only patient treated that day and the staff went out of their way to make me comfortable and keep me in great spirits at all times. Friday I rested at the hotel most of the day and by the afternoon I ventured out and toured some shopping areas and caught a movie at the Cineplex. I returned home the next day Saturday. I could have flown home Friday, but wanted to stay local in case I had any issues that I wanted seen by Dr. Ross or his staff before flying home. As it turned out I had none but it was good knowing I could just kick back and relax a full day. I should mention that I did have MUCH difficulty finding skilled help while in Tampa to remove the stitches from the donor area. My general doctor did not feel comfortable removing them and he referred me to a cosmetic surgeon's office whose staff assured me they could remove them. Well, the one person assigned by the Doctor on duty was nothing short of a beast and kept missing cut points and trying to pull the stitching through forcefully and had me in tears and bleeding profusely. This stitch removal botch job was performed in Town and Country Tampa and if you know of a cosmetic surgeon in that area near the Home Depot at Hillsborough BEWARE! The warning is simple: make sure you go to a reputable place competent with removing hair transplant donor area stitching. Either that or stick around La Jolla or wherever you go for the stitch removal on the 7th day following surgery. Feel free to contact me if you wish further details about my adventure.
