  1. Thanks for posting. So I guess the million dollar question is: do these things really work.

What sort of evidence have you seen that they do work? Part of the issue is that if you have a patient come in and you put him on finasteride, rogaine, and LLLT then it's impossible to attribute any changes to a particular component of his treatment.

So have you had patients that had already been on finasteride for years (therefore any benefits/stabilization had already been realized) and THEN you added LLLT and were able to document noticeable improvements?

  2. Definitely an improvement from pre-op - in large part because you've replaced all the miniaturized hairs with healthier hairs. That being said, if I'm being completely honest, I tend to agree with you that for 3,300 grafts into the frontal third I would've hoped for a denser result and would not be happy if this was my final result.

Might look a bit better if you grew the hair a bit longer. Also the pics are pretty blurry and appear to be taken under harsh overhead lighting. Would help if we could see pics taken in more natural light and maybe have a GF or friend take them so it's less blurry and better angled.

I haven't gone and re-read this thread but did you stop taking fin for a bit or something like that?

  3. So glad to see you come back and update this thread, it's such a bummer when you spend time reading a thread and then people just disappear from the forums. I'm researching Cooley so I've been going through all his patient-posted threads.

Looks great, to be honest I don't think it looked bad at all after the first surgery but I get it that if you are gonna spend all this time and money then you want it to be perfecto.

A few Q's for you if you don't mind:

    1. So with the benefit of hindsight would you choose Dr Cooley again for your first procedure?

    2. Anything you would have done differently (i.e. emphasize how critical a dense hairline is for you to be happy during your consult, show him example pics of hairlines you like, etc.)?

    3. What'd Cooley say about using 900 additional grafts for hairline refinement, was he concerned about using too many grafts in this part of your head?

    4. So Pic 2 and 3 with the bathroom lighting is the full 12 month results of the touch-up right?

    5. How did Dr Cooley react to your concerns? Like was he annoyed and did you sense that he felt like you were being overly picky or did he seem to genuinely understand where you were coming from and wanted to help you achieve your final goals.

    6. For your original surgery thread titled "finally bit the bullet!" you might wanna shoot the admins a quick note and ask them to add "Dr. Cooley FUT X,XXX Grafts" to the thread title. I wasn't aware of your thread cuz I was searching for keyword "Cooley"

  4. Thanks for the encouraging words.

I was on Finasteride from 2 months pre-op to 4 months post-op. Then I stopped taking it. I wasn't a fan of the side effects and I wasn't sure how much it was helping with hair quality, regrowth, and so forth. When I stopped taking it at 4 months post-op, I did notice a slight amount of shedding on the top of my scalp, but only very slight. That said, the hair quality you see in the photos is after 5 months of no Finasteride.

    Top shots attached.

Gotcha, thanks for following up and congrats again on the successful surgery.

  5. This looks great and so happy that things took a turn for the better for you. It's always so worrying when you see people worried about their results and then they go silent and are never heard from again.

Do you have any head down shots like this by any chance?

Did Hasson work on your crown at all? It's a bit hard to tell from the post-op photos but it looks like you guys left the crown alone?

Also, are you on finasteride? The texture of your hair looks great in these most recent photos.

  6. My bad - I had a thread similarly titled from around the same time as folically-challenged - got e-mail notification and assumed the thread was mine! Sorry for the confusion!

LOL - that's pretty funny. Glad to hear your situation worked out though.

I'm researching all of Rahal's results so I will probably come across your thread shortly - would be great if you can update it to show that things actually turned out well!

    Congrats again

  7. OP here. The outcome from this procedure ended up being very good, I also had an additional FUT of roughly 1500 grafts in February 2016 and am almost two years post op from that second procedure. I have not been using any medication and the final result from the two procedures has been excellent. It appears that I am a slow grower and did not see the final result from either procedure until around 18 months post-op. I''ll post a new thread with updated photos.

I'm rather confused. This thread was started by someone named Follically-challenged...are you saying that is you and you somehow changed your handle or something?

  8. Hi all,

I recently went in for a 6mo check in. Everything is going very well. I have hair!! I will have some photos to post soon once they get them to me.

Also yes, Gabel did indeed train under Konior. When he went his way I'm not sure, but it's probably on his website if I double check. These guys did a killer job.

    Pics soon!

Looking forward to it. BTW, just out of curiosity did you guys ever discussing doing any work on the temple points?
