  1. Taking grafts from a flap is an option, at least it is in my case, according to Dr. Bisanga. Generally, having a flap hairline, I always figured this was possible.

But this goes back to the hairline discussions. Once you get used to having the thick hairline, it's hard to go back. Bisanga warned me more than once that the hairline would thin out and look different if he took grafts from it. Better to have the hairline or a overall thin top?

Just a comment, anyway. It's a curious, and difficult, intersection of a couple important topics.

  2. There are two Konior postings today. The other is a six-year result. Both beautiful, as we all expect.

But I noticed the questions in both about FUE or FUT. Maybe this stems from the recent Feller "Why NOT to do FUE" thread. Not to go off topic, but I think Dr. Konior's postings show a preference for FUT. That isn't meant as criticism. I only wonder what he would say about that recent discussion.

Again, I'm sorry if this is off the topic. This result is inspiring.

  3. I thank the doctors for this thread, but the "NOT to get" in the title discourages me and I'm sure some others who have no FUT option left. That is not to say that the truth of this should be hidden or whitewashed. But can I suggest a doctor-led thread that recognizes the problems of FUE and focuses on optimal uses of the method and improvement? I did watch the mFUE posting, but what else? Really? This discouraging thread has only left me with a knot in my stomach and a weakness for the day ahead.

  4. I know how you feel.

Your situation made me immediately think of Dr. Umar. He has posted on many cases where donor supply is short and scars are a problem. Have you written to him? He may be able to offer you an option besides shaving and trying to forget it.

I don't think that having an alternate focus--tanning, the gym, etc.-- is a bad idea, but my approach was to always sort of stay in the game to keep my hope alive just a bit. Baby steps, sort of. It was just my way. You have to do what keeps you going.

    Good luck. Don't lose hope.

  5. Heat straightening never contributed to my hair loss, and I was stuck in a similar routine for many years. However, such a process can cause your hair to get dry and break. And that won't help the overall look of your hair. I am very familiar with the results of continual heat exposure and over-handling.

Pictures would help members advise on what is causing your situation and what you might do to break out of that cycle and improve your look.

  6. I had a hair flap surgery done to replace my hairline in 1985. When I went to India in 2005, I might have been a NW5 except for the dense hairline from the flap. In India, a doctor used body hair to rebuild temple points, make my hairline more natural, and fill in behind the flap. Some of that body hair grew and is still growing. But I believe some has disappeared with age, like it has from the donor areas.

I have quite a lot of documentation, and just realized that it might be useful for this board if I took good, new pictures of these transplanted areas and had a trained specialist post the lot with comment. I will try to get that done sometime this spring.

My point is that body hair, for some, might disappear with age. If you want to use body hair on your scalp, your future plan should include the possibility that it might not be permanent.

  7. I don't discount the usefulness of body hair. That it can be used now is a great step forward, or at least a good bridge to other and better future improvements.

But I am the recipient of body hair transplants and I can say, after 11 years, that one must choose carefully. I think beard hair, which I have not tried as a donor, is probably the most reliable body hair donor.

  8. Hello,

Does anyone have any first-hand experience with U-FUE? The WHTC site describes this as a no-shave recipient and donor FUE method if I am reading it correctly.

To be clear, I have not asked Dr. Mwamba or his clinic about this process. At this point, I only wanted to explore anything that forum members might know.

    Thank you.

  9. I am sort of surprised not to see reactions from anyone who experienced hair fiber implants in the 1980s in the USA. I traveled to Indianapolis for this. I can't describe how badly that turned out. The scarring remains. And I keep two very vivid memories: my girlfriend trying to help me untangle the knotted mess that just sleeping would cause--I do mean knotted--and the doctor using a black light to see the fibers he was trying to remove.

Before you figure that all that has changed, I would really do my homework. Just saying.
