  1. Taking shape nicely for 4 months. Hairline looks stellar on the right side. I'm sure in a few weeks it will even out more and you can let er' rip from there on out. How's your donor area looking?
  2. I agree. Fiddling with too many hormones is a tricky situation. Finasteride increases estrogen so people start adding aromatase inhibitors and the like and it becomes a vicious cycle of adjusting meds via lab results. I have found adding saw palmetto and discontinuing creatine puts my dht levels about mid range, as opposed to off the charts, which I hope will slow down my already rapid hair loss. Sadly I feel so much better with a really high dht but in the long run, for a number of reasons, keeping it mid range may be ideal. Thanks for weighing in with the scholarly stuff.
  3. Hello, I doubt the saw palmetto would have much of a dht lowering effect in one month's time. Do you have any test results pre ht? This would give you a better idea. However the high testosterone and low dht results are similar to what one might expect with propecia so you never know. On a side note, you may wan to consult with a physician regarding your high prolactin level. It could be the result of a pituitary tumor (please do not be alarmed). A prolactinoma can be quite an easy fix with a certain medication. An MRI of your pituitary area might be advisable. I have a pituitary tumor though not a prolactinoma so please do not take this as medical advice. Good luck.
  4. I'm on testosterone replacement and do fairly frequent blood work up and I've noticed that those times that I've been on creatine it significantly jacks up my dht levels. I also notice a big jump in strength and find it easier to lose weight and gain muscle. Nothing's free apparently. I'm considering finasteride but would like to see what levels actual users have been showing if possible. Thanks.
  5. I've read the studies but am curious if any of you kind folks have taken blood tests before you started and concurrent to you being on propecia/fin? Obviously DHT results are the biggie but if you have any other sex hormone results to share, testosterone, estrogen, etc, I think it would be nice to get some concrete data. I am not currently on propecia but have noticed a doubling of DHT every time I have been on creatine which most likely increased my hair shed rate. Would like to see how low the users levels are on fin. Thanks for your assistance.
  6. I just wore a surgical hat. Fits loosely on top and a little snug on the sides which is about what you want. Even had someone ask me if I was a surgeon at the airport. told him if I was I wouldn't be riding coach.
  7. No, not at all. It's far to early to evaluate as it's only been a month but I had 3000 grafts and I'm a Norwood 5a-6 so it's fair to say I'll need another pass. Retrospectively I may have been better off going fut first but was worried about the scar being pronounced as I currently have my hair about a 4 guard. I'm thinking strip may be a better option for round 2 as I, hopefully, will be able to wear my hair longer and hide the scar more discreetly as well as provide more grafts and cost less. I'm not opposed to another pass with fue depending on how this all turns out and my donor area agrees. Plus a small fue surgery may be possible if I need a round 3 after fut. Cross my fingers on that one. Bill, does this sound like a logical plan to you? Your opinion is greatly appreciated.
  8. I also had/have an interest in Dr. Buchwach for an ht. I recently had fue with a site recommended doc but understand I will need another pass and am already looking into fut for my next go around. I've spoken with him and his credentials are impeccable but cannot speak to his actual work. He wrote a book with Dr. Konoir, site recommended physician, as well as working on numerous surgeries with him. He seemed very confident and his experience as a hair surgeon is noteworthy. However, I cannot shed any light on his actual work but I am interested as well. I know he specializes in fut but is now using Smartgraft, similar to Neograft, and utilizing techs for extraction which worries me in regards to fue if you were thinking of using him for that.
  9. Thank you so much for the insight. In all honesty, I have a surgery scheduled soon with a site recommended FUE doc planning on 2500 grafts to cover the hairline to mid scalp. I am and was worried that this may lead to an underwhelming outcome. Is there a way that this approach could lead to a very acceptable cosmetic result keeping in mind a conservative hairline? or should I just consider FUT 4k-5k session? Thanks.
  10. Hello guys, How many grafts, in your opinion, for conservative hairline to mid scalp coverage? Looking at FUE. Thanks.
  11. First off, thank you to all who post and comment on this site. You're opinions are greatly appreciated by all lurkers. Can you tell me if I am a viable candidate for hair transplant, fue specifically. Looking at very conservative hairline. Opinion on how many grafts on hairline, frontal third, and mid scalp (not concerned about crown) would look like I never had work done? Thank you to all.
  12. Thank you Wylie. I've also contacted Hasson and Wong and am waiting for a reply. Can you let me know which physician you are referring to based in Minneapolis? Much appreciated.
  13. Hello, New member and current bald guy. I've searched for this Dr. and have found mixed reviews from days long gone. Has anyone out there had any contact or experience with this doctor? I live in St. Louis. I reached out to Dr. Konoir but he is booked solid for a year, however, he and Dr. Buchwach are old friends and he let me know that he is a very experienced physician and they have collaborated on numerous projects together. I appreciate any feedback and thank everyone who has posted on this site.
