  1. Yeah, buddy! You're looking great for 6 months. I had a little gap in the density of mine in the v at the front of my hairline which has since filled in very nicely. The fact that yours looks really dense at this stage is very promising. I can see what you mean about the texture - it will resolve, albeit slowly. If it bothers you, I found that using conditioner and leaving it in for a couple of minutes while showering in the morning greatly helps to soften the hair.

    Another Hasson Home Run.

  2. Looking really good HTsoon - crown starting to come in nicely! I've heard before that the crown is notoriously slow to come in but it looks like you're well on your way - those side-by-sides really show a big improvement.

Your transformation from before your first procedure to where it's gonna be in a few months is dramatic - congrats and really happy for you.

  3. TJ, thanks for the compliments. You're right that it does keep getting better! I'm getting compliments all the time now about my hair. The transplanted hair is still darker and more coarse than my native hair, but that will sort itself out.

Overall I'm very very happy with my results so far. I was telling my friend the other day that even though I had to pay more to go to H&W than the local clinic (recommended doctor), I felt like it was totally justified based on the results and comfort level I had with them. This HT was worth every penny, it has definitely been a major positive impact on my life. So many things are coming together and opportunities are presenting themselves in my personal life and career, it's really amazing. How much of that is due to the HT? Probably less than I think, but the amount of daily anxiety I had before the HT compared to now is significant. I don't think about my hair when I wake up in the morning, I just get up and go. I don't think about my hair when I'm working outside, sweating, or meeting with clients. The fact that I'm only 6 months in is extremely encouraging since there still more time for improvements of density and texture. Honestly the density I have now is fine, maybe the right side needs to catch up a bit to the left but if things stopped growing tiday I would be happy as long as the texture issue sorts itself out.

Here's a couple pics I took last week. They're not the best but it's all I have on my phone. I'll try to get some styled pics up in the next few days, although I don't really style my hair that much- I just comb it after the shower and let it dry and wear it like that.

Glad to hear it buddy. I agree with you 100%, and felt very much the same way. You just stop feeling anxious/worrying about it constantly. I didn't realise how much the constant worrying used to drain me mentally until I stopped. The novelty of having a strong head of hair certainly hasn't worn off for me yet either, and I do feel happy with the result every time I see myself in the mirror.

You are also probably right in that it isn't the HT directly that's doing that, but it does have such a positive effect on your whole general outlook, which in turn affects the way other people respond to you. That's my opinion at least.

Thanks for the pictures. Your hair will thicken up and also soften, although the softening does happen very gradually. My transplanted hair curls, especially on the one side, although it still looks completely natural. I am now just starting to notice the hair at the root seems to sit flatter, but I think I'll have to wait the full year until it's as soft as my native and gorwn out to the extent that the old, wiry hairs have been cut off.

Really happy for you mate! Seeing Dr H is one of if not the best decisions I've ever made and I'm happy to see others thinking the same (you, me, spidey, noair etc.)

  4. Hey Panda,

Hope you're doing well. Hair is looking solid as hell right now, yet there's still lots more to look forward to. Trust me when I say that it keeps getting better and better and you're exactly where you want to be right now. Another great Hasson result IMO.

Any pics of how everything looks when it's dry/styled?

  5. Ernie,

Looking super mate, it really does. I am also of the opinion that it looks basically flawless and you shouldn't do anything more for now. You have good density, solid temple points and, if you ever want to in future, a great donor supply for top ups. I also think your scar turned out great.

When it was long and slicked back?? --> I felt like Alec Baldwin, lol: NO concerns.

Especially if you're gonna wear your hair longer. Like you said, once it's at a length you usually have it, you've got no concerns.

BTW, did your hair soften up as you approached the year mark? Mine is still a touch wiry at just short of 9 months.

  6. Hey man welcome to the forum,

I have read some of your replies in other threads as well as your post here and you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and an overall good understanding of FUE etc.

    Which is a great start.

From those two surgeons I like Dr. Erdogan as the clear favorite as the other does not have enough consistent home run results for me to jump out and recommend him.

However, I do agree with what you wrote and ASMED will most likely quote you around 4,000-4,500 grafts at least.

It's also good to hear that you are on meds including Fin. This will help you as long as you can avoid the side effects.

Looking at your photos, the donor_clear pic makes me think you could end up as a NW7 eventually.

Therefore I would rethink your plan and go with FUT first to maximize your lifetime donor supply.

If you really want to proceed with a HT.

The risk of scar stretching/widening is there so this will have to be taken into consideration.

I have attached a pic of what I would call your safe donor supply area in red and there is not a lot of it unfortunately.

I'm not sure how many total grafts you would have but I don't think it would be much more than 5,000-6,000.

I hope you're not entirely against FUT. Also staying on Fin a year or two then proceeding might also be a better idea.

And one other consideration is to just shave or buzz your head and see if you can pull the look off.

That may be the best thing to do, but we can help you discuss all of your options here.

This is excellent advice which thoughtfully considers the OP's future as well. Couldn't agree more.

  7. At that length most FUT scars would not be visible, even if you had a bad scar it probably wouldn't be visible unless your hair is wet. There are several posters on here who have much shorter hair and have had FUT, one poster that comes to mind is TJ287 he wears his really for short for having FUT. Are you considering FUT? It may be a better option for you, Dr. Saifi in Poland does both and is reasonably priced. I'd rather travel to Poland than Turkey or India it's much closer to Ireland.

Thanks for the shout, HTsoon! Yes, I wear my hair short on the back and sides - 3 blended into a 2 below the scar. At the length the OP has his hair there is no way you would be able to see even a very bad scar.

  8. Goddamn, incredible results man, congrats!

I'm at month 4 and you seem ahead of me at your month 4...

My left side is lagging behind...

Hope I get a result anywhere near yours

Thanks Over-Rated. Do yourself a favour and do not judge your result according to others. I also think I was a pretty early grower. The next few months for you are where it will really start to happen - months 5-8 make a very big difference. My right side lagged behind my left, so no need for concern on that front.

As I write I'm trying to think of exactly when I noticed certain things happening, but it's hard to do. The changes are so slow and gradual that it's hard to pinpoint specific improvements from month to month. Thinking about it, this was my personal timeline (so far):

Month 3 - Hairs just starting to appear and outlines of a hairline, one side appearing before the other. Shock loss all the way along my scar, which is very red.

Month 4 - Coverage pretty good, with a pretty defined hairline, but hairs are still very thin. New hair seems to stick straight up. Slow spots and evidence of lagging on one side. Shock loss still not recovered.

Month 5 - Coverage looking solid now, and coming in strong. Individual hairs improving too, but not by much. Lagging still evident on one side. Shock loss much better.

Month 6 - I could tell at this stage the result was going to be good. Hairline very defined and hairs starting to mature, but still stick up. Lagging side much less evident and shock loss mostly recovered. Hard to tell if any new hairs are appearing as coverage is already very good.

Month 7 - Hair texture still improving and thickening, although still curlier than normal. Hair appears less wiry and darker. Shock loss not an issue now and the scar is white and hard to detect.

Month 8 - More improvement in the texture but still not as soft as it could be. Hair is starting to look like it is sitting flatter towards the root and more in line with the general direction of other hair. Everything is looking very good at this stage.

Which doc did you go to and how many grafts?

    Fantastic result! Congrats!

    Thanks, David!

  9. Great results TJ spectacular actually, about the progesterone any negative sides? I know one guy who took it said he felt sleepy all day, I currently have an insomnia problem so doubt I would get that, do you need a script?

Thanks HTsoon! I see your second procedure is coming along nicely - congrats.Sometimes I do feel like I should've gone down the FUE route like you did, but that's me really nitpicking.

No negative sides to report. As Over-Rated pointed out there are a number of very subtle but positive side benefits to progesterone. It's actually a master hormone so can convert to other hormones as and when needed by the body, which is a bonus. I would say that (for me at least) any added benefits are very subtle or i'm just too used to them by now to notice. The only exception is the relaxing effect which makes you sleepy - I only ever take mine in the evenings because of this. Actually works out really nicely for me. I can imagine if you took them in the morning and went to work you'd feel pretty buggered haha! Again, as Over-Rated correctly pointed out, it is prescription only.

It's all very interesting. P.S guess what reduces progesterone metabolites a lot (and allopreg by 800%)? finasteride. :)

That IS very interesting! I can't remember if it was with you, but I remember discussing the possibility of progesterone sides on here before. No one was certain whether the typical sides associated with fin were as a result of DHT itself being blocked (like with any 5ARI) or if it was the fin itself. If it was the class of drugs, then anything that would act as a 5ARI (as fin does AND progesterone does) would inevitably lead to the same sides. Unfortunately there are no studies that I know of where they have tried to isolate each process separately and see what happens. That last sentence is particularly compelling. It could potentially be that fin causes progesterone to dip drastically and that 's the real reason for the sides. Very ironic!

Looks really great and the scar is not visible at that hair length. Really happy for you and thanks for sticking around to update us all.Enjoy the new hair!

Thank you David! You were instrumental in this process for me and I cannot thank you enough - best decision I've ever made. It would be great to catch up for a beer the next time you are in London - just let me know.

  10. Unreal results. Must be ecstatic

    Thanks, Spidey. Very happy indeed.

Incredible result at only 8 months!!! Congrats! I think we can say this is another huge success story from H&W :)

Tj, curious about your treatment to maintain, progesterone used once daily, 100mg, correct? I have also began using progesterone, going on 2months+ now. I use topical cream. I notice that it has eliminated all facial acne, and made my face much smoother, is this something you've noticed as well? No side effects at all, only positive ones like no more acne and better facial skin quality.

I think it's still early to notice any benefit on hair, but I would like to hope it's helping. When did you start to notice hair maintaining/thickening on progesterone? i.e how many months into treatment?

Thanks so much, and congrats again man.

Thanks for your kind words. I take 100mg every TWO days. I would wait at least 6 months before seeing if there's been any discernible difference to your hair. Let me know how it goes. I didn't notice any positive effects aside from helping me sleep on nights I took it.

  11. So my surgery was exactly 8 months ago yesterday - how time flies!

Not much to report really, things seem to be always improving. My hair is longer than it ever has been, mainly due to not being able to get an appt at my barber and for no other reason.

As my hair is longer I have noticed the difference in the hair shaft as the grafts begin to settle down. The ends (which were formed some months ago) are much, much curlier - my hair is normally arrow-straight. I have also noticed that towards the root of each hair (which is newer) the hair sits more naturally, whereas before it tended to stick straight up. All in all the maturation of the hair is bringing about positive changes and I may post an update after my haircut next week to see how it looks when it's shorter.

I have also found that the scar is more noticeable as my hair gets longer - the temple region above my ears is pretty weak, so the hair never really gets long there. As a result when anything above it gets longer the hair kind of sits up. You can see a crease in the picture if you look very closely on the right hand side only, but it's not something a layman would ever notice.

Aside from that I'll let the pictures do the talking. Any feedback welcomed/

  12. great results. congrats Tj287 :)

    how's you scar looking?

is it also ear to ear?

Thanks for your kind words, noob My scar is longer than ear to ear - it wraps around my entire head basically. Thankfully it's really hard to spot. I've included a couple of pictures of the back of my head. I get my hair trimmed down to a #3 and a #2 for areas below the scar line.

It might also be worth noting that I did have shock loss around my scar that's only recently rectified itself in the past few months.

This is pure hair porn and think the forum really needs this kind of positive vibes from your great result.

    Especially like this shot.

Enjoy your new hair, the world is yours

Wow, this really is an amazing result. Congrats!!!!

Thank you hsrp and Jax, much appreciated - I am extremely happy.

  13. one of the best Dr. Hasson cases I've seen, congrats!

    Thanks Home!

Honestly TJ, it's like you're just some dude who's been lucky enough to avoid the MPB gene. You look like you've never been receding.

    Grand slam result. Congratulations man

Thanks Ernie! Much appreciated. I am very pleased so far and have had many compliments. Although I can't help but think I should have gone FUE.. Would have been nice to be able to shave it a little tighter on the back and sides, but that doesn't mean I'm any less thrilled with how it looks now.

How have you found things have changed for you from months 7 to where you are now (i think 9..?).

  14. Here's an update at 7 months. Everything seems to be moving along nicely. Hair is still a little crinkly in spots which is to be expected at this point. Looking forward to the hair softening up over the next few months, but in all honesty if everything stopped now I'd still be over the moon.

    I can't thank Dr H enough - he did a good job i think!

  15. Hi mikey

I m living in denial and cannot accept there is no solution

I m sorry i m repeating every few days the same thing, i m trying to make people pay attention so maybe someone come with solution,

I cannot believe there is no one case of hair removal hundreds of thousands had hair transplants and there is no one case of hair removal ?

I m looking for people who had those hair removal thing or skin repair as i cannot trust doctors anymore, best place to finf those people are here on hair forum

I m not looking for pity, i want solution or at least hope that there is a way out of this prison

I m taking this med and i m in the 11th pill , so maybe it has some effect also

    Sam,

I have been reading your posts and following your story for a while now and I have to say that my heart truly breaks for you. Your situation sounds horrible and I do sympathise. A hair transplant is something that you pin your hopes and desires on and the realisation that you are worse off than before must be truly crushing. That being said, everything Mikey has said is true. Yes, we are reading and we feel bad but you post the same things day in and day out and it's been going on for months and months. No one on this forum will be able to help you so stop asking us and go find some real answers.

I cannot believe I am telling this to a grown man, but most of the Doctors recommended on this site will not trawl through posts by forum users like us looking for people to help on a daily basis, so I'm not surprised you've not got an answer so far.Try contacting every single surgeon recommended on this site. Call or email them and include pictures or talk to them via skype.. Explain your problem and if one person cannot help then move onto the next one and try again. If that doesn't work, Google names of dermatologists in Europe or North America or anywhere you can feasibly travel to and repeat the process with them.

This is a problem that is obviously having a SERIOUS negative psychological effect on you as well, and I urge you to please go find a solution. I am also worried that after Mikey told you about Accutane a week ago you are saying you are already on the 11th pill in just over a week. What the hell are you doing?? Accutane is a VERY harsh drug and you cannot continue to use it for prolonged periods without it having potentially VERY serious adverse health effects. You seem to have just jumped straight into taking it and that worries me greatly.

Please seek some proper help instead of sitting at home worrying about this - you are driving yourself mad.

  16. I'm sorry but the work doesn't look great. You should have written something before undergoing a second procedure with the same doc - it's unlikely that you'll get a good result 2nd time around if the 1st wasn't great. I hope you see improvement and do keep us all updated.

  17. Tj287, thanks for the honest comment.

I'm definitely not looking for a sparse hairline and I had communicated my desire for enough density with the doctor during consultation. I am hoping that once the planted hair grow out, it will give the look of density even if it is not as dense as the remaining hair.Even though there have been multiple cases of poor results on this forum recently, there are many similar cases done by the doctor in the past with good end results, so I'm keeping my hopes high until I'm at a position to judge the outcome.

Like I said, I'm rooting for you! I've seen more bad examples recently, but I also have seen that he is capable of good work as well. I also hear his prices are pretty competitive. That being said, I wouldn't go to him myself. All the best and keep us updated.

  18. Hi Bob,

I'm a little late to the party but yeah, the first night is DEFINITELY the worst. The clinic gave me percocet which I think was meant to last a couple of days but I took them all in the first night and it didn't even help that much. I have a high pain threshold and have broken bones in the past (my jaw - it was horrible) and the first night after my HT was the worst pain I'd ever encountered. The good news is that it never is that bad ever again. From now the most annoying thing will be the staples, which will still be there for a couple of weeks.

Glad to see you got the personal touch from Dr. Hasson. You get what you pay for. He was also my Dr and I had a procedure done back in May. If you get a chance (and are so inclined) please do think about doing a full write up of your experience and results etc - I would love to follow your progress.

    Happy growing
