  1. It's been just over 12 months since I sat down in the chair with Dr. Hasson. I can say without hesitation that is was one of the best things I have ever done. I am very grateful to Dr. H and the team over at H&W, who I cannot thank enough.

I used to waste so much time and energy worrying about my hair. and this anxiety had a massive impact on every aspect of my life. I now no longer worry about how my hair looks and it has resulted in me not only looking better, but also feeling better too. This has has the knock on effect of improving my overall disposition, my confidence at work, and my confidence with the opposite sex. In my eyes this is priceless and I would not hesitate go through the entire process again.

I also encourage everyone who is thinking about taking the plunge to do their research, find a doc they are happy with and go ahead - if you go with a top doc it is very likely you will have a good result.

Thank you as well to all of the forum members who contribute to the community every day, and to those who have supported me and said kind things to me over the last year. You have all been a great source of support for something which is (for most people) very private.

    Pictures for 12 months below.

  2. 1. Your progress pics are truly inspirational and your hair is looking FANTASTIC, to put it lightly :)

    2. I'm coming up on 2 months on 100mg oral Progesterone (taken once a day, at bedtime). Do you know if your hair loss perhaps got slightly worse at all before it got better? I'm not saying my hair has gotten worse, however I did start taking very detailed pictures and my crown and center is opening up a bit, more than I remembered.

I know it's very very early on the Progesterone, and if this was fin, people would tell me I'm crazy to expect results this soon. To answer that, I am not expecting any results as of yet, simply want to know if your hair may have gotten a bit worse before it got better? OR perhaps you simply noticed nothing at all until something positive around 6 months in?

I'd really love to hear more details about the 1st months to 1 year when you started on Progesterone, if you don't mind.

I had a FUT like you so there is NO turning back for me. I am pinning all of my hopes on Progesterone and I believe in it, just would love to hear some feedback from you on it.

    Thanks so much :):D

    1. Thank you, much appreciated :)

    2. I have to be honest here, I started it so long ago I can't really remember my timeline or if it got worse before it got better. Sorry..! Like you say, two months is VERY early days, so be patient. I reckon it probably took a whole year to max out the benefit and you should be noticing changes by 6 months. I should also mention I never really had problems with my crown, but progesterone helped my frontal third to thicken and maintain. As far as I know, no new hair grew in, it just helped what was already there.

Out of interest, what kind of progesterone (oral, yes, but what brand) are you using and how did you acquire it? Good luck with your HT and happy growing! Who was your doctor?

  3. Long-time creeper, first-time poster. I had two prior HTs scheduled with local doctors but backed out weeks before. So glad I did because given my hair loss pattern (NW6), I needed to put myself in the best position for a quality, long-term result which consensus seems to point to H&W (large FUT for high NW). This forum saved me from not going with an elite surgeon. It's only fair I pay it forward.

I've been on propecia for 5 years now. Directly from the front, you really couldn't tell I had any hairloss. It's primarily focused on the crown. 3,700 grafts were placed in the crown, sized around ~85 cm2 for a density around ~43/cm2 . I was told I have slightly above average texture and hair diameter. While I have coverage in the mid-scalp and front, it's miniaturized all over. I'd like to tackle the remainder in the future. I was told I have 4,000 grafts remaining via FUT alone. Nothing new to add about the procedure that hasn't been said in the past. Dr. Hasson's results should speak for themselves. After scouring the internet for two years, it's clear he's arguably the best surgeon when it comes to FUT for high NW patients. I feel I put myself in the best position for a successful result. Time will tell.

    Pictures are mid-op, 1 day post-op, pre-op wet, and pre-op dry.

    Thoughts/feedback would be greatly appreciated!

    Any update on this, Pelo?

  4. +1 for H&W. Dr Hasson did an FUT on me and it turned out great.

I would go to Rahal - from what I've seen he's very good.

I would also go to Erdogan. Also very good and the hair always grows, but imo some of his hairlines can look a tad drawn on. You already have one, so less of an issue for you.

I would also go to Konior - he's basically the unicorn of the hair restoration doctors in most people's eyes, and his work is evidence of that

  5. Don't worry, it will seem like nothing is happening.- it's normal. I personally found months 2-5 the hardest. The mental side of post-op is no joke and very strenuous! One thing I hadn't factored in before i took the plunge.

You'll be smiling soon, don't worry.

Interested to see how this turns out, particularly the temple peaks.

    Happy growing!

  6. Update for this month below. Everything is great - very happy! I'd say my scar has improved and reckon they mature and settle down just like new hair. I expect it looks as good now as it probably ever will, which is great. Hair greed is real and I can't say I haven't considered FUE into the scar, and possibly a few hundred grafts in each temple. My temples are pretty much gone and it really would just be the icing on the cake.

  7. Phenomenal hairline!

Looks amazing and very natural! Congrats

    Stunning!

You're hitting the sweet spot in terms of length which gives an added volume boost as it lays on the hair itself.

Keeping the sides short helps with that too.

enjoy it to the fullest

Thank you all for your kind words, much appreciated.

This is a great result congrats man! No one can tell you had a hair transplant, its really natural. Did you take biotin to promote hair growth and health?

Thanks, dude. No, I did not take biotin. I did consider it after seeing so many people on it, but never got round to it. Doesn't seem to have impacted negatively on me so far.

    Great results man! Congrats.

Are you still using 100mg oral progesterone per night? I've been on this for a little bit now, few weeks.

You noticed thickening around say 6 months in? Can you elaborate a bit on your progesterone usage? :)

Myself and another guy are both following your 100mg of oral progesterone protocol, so we patiently await your reply and any additional thoughts/comments you would like to add about your progesterone usage.

    Thank you!

Thanks, OR. I tapered it down from one every night to one every other night, probably around 6 months post-op. I continue to take it every other day. I would say noticing at 6 months in sounds about right. I reckon after one year it had maxed out. Please note that effects seem to wane if you stop. I had a friend who started taking it as well and his hair improved. He stopped against my advice for around 6-8 months and his hair got noticeably worse. He has since resumed taking his pills!

Let me know how you get on, would be great to hear feedback from others.

  8. Hi,

I am supposed to have a consultation with dr Sezgin next week - he s been presented to me as one of the best FUE surgeons in the world. I can't find Sam23, do you have any other info? Thanks a lot

I highly recommend you read his post history beforehand: Forum By and for Hair Loss Patients - Search Results

He had massive issues and they did not resolve even after 18 months. These included poor growth, skin texture issues, inflammation, pain and discomfort. Be very careful.

  9. I'm noticing for the first time that my hair is sitting flat properly. I thought I was basically done, but maturation of the hair does continue.

I have to say that Dr Hasson's hairline design and graft placement has been outstanding - there is the perfect balance of micro and macro irregularity. I've included a few closeups for anyone who's interested. First three are fresh out the shower, the others have product in my hair and the last one was taken outside.

  10. About a month away from my 1000-1200 graft hair-greed touch up on March 27th, but here's a random shot. The gray is back after shaving it all down to a #5 a few weeks ago...

Just curious, Ernie. I see you've opted for another FUT (which I understand based on your previous success) but would you not perhaps be tempted to go down the FUE route and put a couple of grafts into the scar? I'd imagine you'd be able to go all the way down to a 2 (or even a 1)after this as I understand that 5 is pretty much your limit right now.

  11. Wow, Margaret! Why are you so sensitive and why do you think I'm talking about you? Are you the only other person in this thread beside me and Vega? Did I mention you? Did I quote you? Where is the "I never said it looked terrible" comment coming from? I didn't say you said this. I'm trying to support Vega, and I'm in a similar situation with my own recession. Keep the thread about Vega, not you.

Rickyrixon, I guess "haters" was a bit strong. It just seems like the negativity is being piled on a bit much. To me it looks like Vega had a recessed hairline and now he has a lower hairline that is thin, which isn't the end of the world. Disappointing? Sure, I get that but it should be a simple fix.

Haha, who's Margaret now eh? This isn't about me and I was quite clearly in support of Vega. You basically took the view that it was ok because:

Anyone that has had a hair transplant doesn't get original density back. Get a second procedure, give it time, and you'll be good.

Which is categorically untrue.I was objecting to your view that the OP should accept this result as anything other than poor. No one wants a lower hairline that is see-through.

Hey guys wanted to update with recent developments.

I have received another mail from dr bhatti ,well apparently there had been a mix up with the mail and he mistook it with someone elses who has a similar name .

He has kindly offered me a complementary procedure for 1000-1200 grafts to sort out the issue ASAP as he agrees that the results are now final and are not up to the mark.

So i guess i will soon be going in again for a second time to get a HT and i hope all turns out well finally!

Will keep you guys posted and share updates on the new procedure.

Slightly flimsy excuse, a 'similar name' is a bit far fetched. I think this thread may have been a factor in that swift backtrack. Either way, I am very happy that you reached out and he's offered to help you for free. This shouldn't be something that should really have happened in the first place, but at least you've got a solution now.

All the best for the future, please do keep us updated.

  12. Thanks guys for your inputs , I have yet to contact the clinic as I wanted to seek the forums unbiased opinions first .

Actually the doctor was advising on 1200 grafts initially but on my insistence agreed on 1500 grafts had I known even this would be inadequate I would have gone for a higher amount !

At this stage i am not too happy with the results as you can see in the attached pics I have random strands of transplanted hairs especially around the centre hairline which are just curling up and falling down my forehead which I PAID for but now would rather have it shaved off as it would look much better cosmetically!

I went in for the HT hoping to take care of the hairline completely in one sitting..Now I will have to go for another round of transplants Again to fix the hairline ! why could the doctor not have just gone for a higher density in te first place?!!!!

I understand multiple ht are necessary for further loss but if the initial hairline ht is only unsuccessful..This is turning out to be a long and unpleasant journey !

Interesting that the doctor advised you to have even fewer grafts than you ended up with. I have seen several results with poor density from this Dr. The good thing here is that the work itself is not bad, just not dense enough. As a result, If you can get it touched up for free by Bhatti, I would take it. Please communicate with the clinic and see what they suggest.

I think this looks fine. Could it be denser? Sure. Is it a disaster? Hell no. It looks pretty natural overall. Don't let the haters get you down. All you need is a second pass for more density and you'll be good. I don't think having your hair not styled to share photos makes sense. Anyone that has had a hair transplant doesn't get original density back. Get a second procedure, give it time, and you'll be good.

Are you being serious..? I never said it looked horrible. My exact words were 'While it does not look terrible or overtly artificial or anything like that, the transplanted hair nowhere near matches the density of the native hair.' The expectation that the doctor can get his new hair to match his native density is not unreasonable. He wanted to only have to go through this once and is now facing the reality of a second procedure in order to achieve a result that he should have gotten first time. Thus, this is a poor result.

It might also be worth noting that I have had a HT and it matches my native density. So.. yeah, there's that..

I don’t think anyone was ‘hating’ on this result, but rather just giving their honest opinions… If he is requiring a second procedure for what was essentially a relatively small and straightforward case, then I can’t see how it can be seen as anything other than disappointing…

    Exactly. Well said.

  13. crowns are renown to be late bloomers. Not all cases but some. I'd be patient for another 2-3 months max and move forward from there

That looks like a spot just behind his hairline, not his crown.

At seven months you still have a chance of seeing new sprouts but with each passing month the chances diminish. It is fair to give the result a full twelve months to improve with new hairs but beyond that, it is unlikely that new hairs will present themselves and you will only have texture changes and improvements to expect. This can go on as long as 18 months after your procedure.

I have never seen a patch that sparse thicken and fill in completely to match the native density from months 7-12.

  14. i feel the density is acceptable on left temple hairline but the center hairline and especially my right temple hairline the density is lacking!

I agree that this is not a good result. While it does not look terrible or overtly artificial or anything like that, the transplanted hair nowhere near matches the density of the native hair. I could have told you from the pictures taken just after the transplant that this was never going to be a dense result. Contact the clinic and see what they say. You will not see a big change after the 12 month mark.

I believe that this particular doctor tries to do too much with not enough grafts, resulting in fair coverage but bad density. I have seen this with his cases time and time again. I also have issues around the artistry of his work but that is somewhat of a nitpick. As a result, I am not a fan and do not believe his work to be on par with the elite North American doctors or their European counterparts.

  15. Looking great, dude. I could tell from the first time I saw your thread that this result was going to be great. In my opinion if you go with a top doc (Hasson, Konior, Rahal etc) you can tell pretty much immediately after surgery how a result is going to look. What a difference those last few months have made, plus your scar looks basically invisible.

Things will get better and better and the hard part is now definitely over. Enjoy your new hair!
