  1. Well here is my story. I started losing my hair in my late 20's. It really accelerated in my 30's to a NW 4-5. My hairline was gone by the time I was 40 but my crown only had a silver dollar size hole. I had my first transplant at 50 years old in 2007. Nearly 3,000 grafts to the front/hairline. It was still too thin for sunlight exposure. So I went for my second HT in 2011. Most of the nearly 2,000 grafts went to the crown that had now opened up to about 3" in circumference. It didn't do a whole lot for my crown but it was nice to have something growing there. But after that my crown loss rapidly crept to the sides & back. I think the trauma from transplants exasperated my hair loss in back. As for drugs I wasn't a good candidate considering my age & degree of hair loss. Although I tried Propecia briefly & experienced bad side effects so I gave it back to the Dr. Now my hair loss is out of control as I watch it desert my head in back at a rapid pace. I have lost all hope at this point of being able to stop it. I live under hats most of the time. It wasn't until I started loosing the back that I became despondent over my hair loss. The front I could handle but the back is embarrassing & demoralizing. At this point Ill wear a hat & if I have a show (Musician) Ill wear a wig. I wouldn't be comfortable wearing a wig in everyday life. My Dr. did a fine job but as I have learned there is no way a Dr. can give you back your hair if you are a NW5+. It is a losing proposition. Im not the type that gets depressed & I will soldier on. I just think that I'm lucky to have all of my limbs etc because there are certainly a lot worse things in life than losing one's hair although it does suck. No happy ending, just end of story.

    Good luck on your journey.
