  1. These are my 2 month pics. I've been really busy this past week and haven't had a chance to upload them but these pics were taken a week ago at the 2 month mark. I'm seeing a lot of little red dots on myscalp, is that normal?
  2. I dunno, I still see alot there when i examine in the mirror. Probably harder to tell by looking at the pics though.
  3. He didn't really say but he said I'd be lookin at about 2500 or so grafts to finish up the crown and temples and said I can come back in 10 months to do that so I'm guessing I have at least that much left.
  4. Yeah, I want to get the crown done and do a little on the temples and down the side if possible. I want to see how it looks when it grows in and just kind of go from there, but that's where my mind is now, crown and temple. Dr. Wong said in about 10 months I can come back and we can work on those areas.
  5. These pictures were taken 30 days after the procedure. There's still some crusting/scabbing, I feel I was a little too gentle/cautious but those scabs/crusts are gone now, they actually came off that day in the shower. I still do have alot of the grafted hair though. Only some has fallen out, I thought all of it was supposed to fall out. I feel like only about half of it has fallen out up to this point.
  6. Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with Dr. Wong and keep anyone who is interested updated on my progress throughout the next year or so. First off, I started losing my hair when I was about 19-20 years old. It started out as a slight recession around my temples. I was really freaked out and extremely upset about it. I visited doctors who recommended vitamins and supplements and things of that nature, which didn't do anything for me. I didn't know what to do and basically became a hermit crab. It zapped me off all my confidence. The hair loss didn't really increase though, over the years. The progression was really slow, up until about 2 years ago anyways. I really started noticing it, my barber said something to me too. I wanted to do something about it. Just a disclaimer, I did try Propecia and Rogaine in the past and that might of helped me conserve what I had at the time, but I didn't see it that way. I didn't see any regrowth and figured that a lost cause. Pretty dumb of me I know, but anyways my hair loss had gotten really bad so I started doing research on hair transplants. I read alot of articles, lurked around on different forums and finally mustered the courage to go in for a consultation. I live in South Florida, and ended up doing 3 in-person consultations with local doctors. I also did 3 on-line consultations with doctors who I kept seeing people talk about in the forums. After much deliberation and research I decided to go with Hasson & Wong, and Dr. Wong in particular. I was contacted by a patient consultant for H&W who works with people from the states being that H&W is out of Vancouver, Canada. We had some really long, great talks and he really made me feel good about my decision. My appointment was scheduled for July, 23 2015. I flew into Vancouver on the 22nd, it was a quick trip because short notice and work and all. I wish I could've stayed for longer, Vancouver is such a beautiful place. Anyways, it was in on the 22nd and out on the 24th. H&W set me up in a beautiful hotel not too far from their office. On the day of the appointment I got to the office at about 6AM. I was immediately greeted by one of the nurses, she was setting up for the day and was actually the only one there at that point. The office was very nice, clean, modern, state-of-the art looking. Beautiful location too, overlooking the mountains. She sat me down, took some pictures and went over some things regarding what to expect for the day. Not too long after she got through explaining, in walked Dr. Wong. He immediately sat down with me and also went over some things. Dr. Wong is a very nice, personable, calm, easy to talk to kind of guy. I felt very comfortable and even better about my decision. Dr. Wong set me up in my room and we started the surgery. He first took the strip from my donor area, numbed it up real good so I didn't feel anything. The numbing stung a little bit but nothing unbearable. Dr. Wong was always concerned about my comfort throughout the whole process. After the strip was cut, the nurses went to work on getting all my grafts in order. When the grafts were ready Dr. Wong made the incisions for where the grafts would go, and the nurses/assistants placed the grafts. It was a very efficient process. Before I knew it there were 3,4, sometimes 5 in the room working on my big old noggin! After a few hours, it was lunch time, and I was provided multiple menus from a few local restaurants to choose lunch provided by H&W. The food was great btw! Forgot to mention that I had a flat screen TV in front of me the whole time and I was provided some movie options or Netflix. I just watched Netflix the whole time, as there are some shows I like to watch so it gave me a chance to catch up on said shows. The rest of the day it was basically a back and forth where Dr. Wong would make a few hundred incisions and the assistants would place and so on and so forth. The transplant was completed at around 6PM, it was a long day for sure. When I was finished Dr. Wong got with me about what I need to do immediately following the surgery and over the next few months. I was given a packet of information and a care package with some essentials...antibiotics, shampoo, pillow cover etc. By the time I left the room I realized how many nurses and assistants and workers where there at that point. They are so well staffed and that's one of the reasons they can do these large megasesions. Everyone was so nice, professional and comforting, that's what I want to emphasize the most. I had a great experience and hopefully will get the results to match. Attached are some pictures from the day of before the procedure and after the procedure.
  7. So I just got back from my appointment with Dr. Wong. I really did have a great experience with Dr. Wong and the whole staff there. I was very nervous and apprehensive going on, wondering am I making the right decision and all that. Well, The staff was just so friendly and dedicated to what they were doing, I'm so glad I decided to go with Dr. Wong. They really put me at ease and made me feel right at home. Going in, I was scheduled for about 5000 grafts and I ended up getting about 4500. Dr. Wong was able to give me some good coverage. I still need some work on my crown area and a little work on my temples. Dr. Wong said in about 9-10 months we'll do another session for about 2500 grafts and that should give me the desired coverage that I'm looking for. Overall it was a great experience, now it's just a waiting game, and I just can't wait for the hair to start growing in. Garageland, it was great meeting you. I'm going to call you by your handle unless you tell me otherwise. Feel free to post my pictures, and I will keep everyone updated with pictures as time progresses. Btw, garageland, hearing your story and the level of hairloss and botched surgeries and all that you had, to where you are now gave me a lot of confidence. Your hair really does look amazing and I can only hope mine eventually looks as nice as that.
  8. Wow Turtle, your results are absolutely amazing! That is so encouraging because I have an appt scheduled with Dr. Wong this Thursday for 5000 grafts. I have alot more loss than you but I can only hope and dream that my results will look like yours
  9. Yeah, I feel like this is the best decision for me. I did alot of research, 3 in-person consultations and 4 on-line consultations. As a whole, everything included, Dr. Wong seemed like the best decision at this time for me. I'm excited and apprehensive and nervous, all kinds of feelings right now. I'm flying out to Canada in 3 days, WOW!! Yeah I really want to get as many done the first time as possible, the local Docs to me said the most they could do in one session was like 2500-3000, Dr. Wong can do 5000 for me so I'm happy about that but I also know that 5000 isn't going to give me the full dense coverage I want but I also know it's going to be an excellent start and yes life-changing. I can't wait. I have been doing the laxity exercises. Dr. Charles said I had great laxity already when I visited him a couple weeks ago, and yes I will keep everyone updated on my progress, you guys as a community have been great and nothing but helpful, I want to thank everyone for that, what an awesome community. I just wish I found you guys earlier. It's nice to know I'm not alone with these issues because sometimes it felt that way.
  10. Thanks guys, fortune 11 I really liked what you had to say there, made me feel good about this whole thing. So I made the choice and I'm going with Dr Wong this coming thursday, 7/23/15. I'm gonna go for about 5000 grafts, and I gotta say I'm nervous as hell about the whole thing. Excited but nervous too. I'll be sure to post photos and what not
  11. No it's not about the discount it's more about seeing H&W talked about alot as one of the best out there and then the discount is just a bonus. I wouldn't go to some no name place or a doctor with a bunch of bad reviews just to get a discount. There's guys around me that are much cheaper and I could stay local, if I wanted to save money like that then I could just stay here and go to one of those guys. I'm willing to travel to another country cause H&W are in Canada and they're not cheap, not outrageous expensive or anything but I'm prob looking at upwards of $20k. If I can go to one of the best clinics and get the best transplant I can get which is how I truly feel about H&W and then save some money on top of it I'm all about it.
  12. Also, if I could get some honest feedback on this...A guy earlier in this thread was pretty adament about me going with Hasson over Wong. I understand politics and know it's tough for moderators and senior members to really give strong opinions like this but like I said they can squeeze me in, in a couple of weeks and with that comes a solid discount but it's with Wong not Hasson. Through my research both Hasson and Wong seem like some of the best in the biz so I figured either one of them would be good and it's tough to pass up a discount like that. With the discount plus $400 towards airfare and 2 nights hotel, it's tough to pass up, especially with a DR that I see so many people talk about.
  13. I've been speaking with a guy named Mike who is a patient consultant for H&W, I told him I pretty much want as many graphs as I can get. He said the first procedure should be the biggest so they'll go for it, maybe anywhere from 5000-7000 but he said they wont have an exact count til they cut the strip[ but that was a ballpark figure. He did say I'd probably need 2 procedures to get the coverage I want. So maybe 5-6k now and then another couple thousand in 9-12 months.
  14. I attached some pics below, tell me what you guys think and be honest, I can take it...I think lol!! BTW I did my online consultation with Hasson & Wong and got some good feedback. They can squeeze me in on the 23rd of this month if I can get the time off work, which hopefully I will. I am still a little apprehensive though. I keep thinking what if I don't like it or what if I never get the coverage or density I'm looking for, I would never really be able to shave my head because of the scar. I don't think I'd look good with a shaved head though. Really what I'd like is a nice conservative hairline and more dense towards the front and i don't care if it's not as dense in the back but I really dont want a big glaring bald spot on the back of my head. I feel like if I end up with that I might as well just shave the old noggin!!
  15. Thanks again everyone for the advice.I'm a little confused and kind of at a stand still. I've so far been to 3 in person consultations. The first doctor said he would do 6000 FUE grafts and that would give me back pretty much complete coverage, but the price tag on that was just too high. The second doctor said I would need about 8000 fut grafts to give me complete dense coverage. He said he'd do about 3500 the first session, and another 3500 in 6-12 months after that, and if I felt it wasn't enough we'd do another 1000-2000. The third doctor said I was not a good candidate for FUE that I'd pretty much have to do FUT to reach my desired results. He also said, looking at my hair that he feels I only have 6000 maybe 7000 grafts tops to work with and that wouldn't be enough to give me the full complete dense coverage I'm looking for. He said he could build a nice natural hairline and fill in what he could going back but that he probably wouldn't be able to fill the crown area in with dense hair. I'm waiting on the results of my online consultation with Hasson and Wong. I'm anxious to hear what they say as from my research they seem to be the best in the biz at FUT. I am a little upset and confused with the different info I've received with my consultations so far. I don't know if I'd want to commit to a surgery that's gonna leave a big scar on my head if I'll never have complete coverage. I'm starting to wonder If I should just shave my head instead. I don't think I have the right look for that though. I'm pale, have a big head and not the best looking guy in the world. I don't think that look would suit me. I just don't know what to do, this is all just very depressing.
  16. Ok, I just submitted my story and photos and everything to Hasson and Wong for online consultation. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to say. I have a consultation tomorrow with Dr Charles too. I know everyone says take your time but I can't lie that I want to do this adapt. I'm tired of living this way! I'm so depressed, I wear a hat all the time, I've missed out on awesome opportunities and events and I just can't take it anymore. I want my confidence back, I want to be happy. For instance, I just recently started talking to an ex who was the love of my life and I screwed the relationship up. This was 10 years ago. Our lives crossed paths again and we've been talking about meeting up. I keep pushing it off though cause I don't want her to see my hair or lack thereof. I want to see her so badly though but I just can't, not without a hat anyways. That's how I feel and I just don't want to live like this anymore.
  17. I've been hearing so much about hasson and wong, I'm going to check their website out and see if I can get an online consultation. I wouldn't be opposed to going to Canada to get this done, if it's really worth it you know. I mean is that necessary? Can I not get something just as good locally? As far as Turkey, I never imagined myself ever traveling there but it's something I'll look into. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I appreciate everyone sharing their input, thanks all
  18. Thanks for your input ontop, I'm trying to do my due diligence to make a good decision. I'm in Florida though, where does it say I'm in CA?
  19. ^ I might of got my acronyms wrong there, I meant strip vs extraction
  20. Thank you guys for the responses, sorry for my late response but just been really busy. I'm just trying to do my best in finding a good surgeon for a good price. $60,000 is def out of my price range right now. I'm not totally opposed to traveling but if I can find what I'm looking for locally that would be great. So far I had a consultation with the first doctor, DR. Bauman, he's the one who quoted me $60,000. I also had a consultation with Dr. Mejia yesterday, he's one of the recommended doctors from this site, I thought that went pretty well, his price was within my range. Do any of you have any experience with him beyond him being a recommended doctor. Also, I have a consultation scheduled for this Tuesday with Dr Charles who is also on the recommended list. I'm just wondering, should I go with one of them or should I travel out of state or country, I really wouldn't want to do that unless it was worth it. Who out there is worth traveling to? Also, would you recommend one procedure over the other, meaning FUE vs FUT?
  21. Hi everyone, I just signed up today, so forgive my inexperience, hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I've been losing my hair since I was 19, I'm now 33, I've tried Rogaine and Propecia over the years and didn't really get any results. My hair loss has gotten much worse over the past 2 years and I really want to get a hair transplant. I live in South Florida and I was hoping maybe some of you guys could recommend me a good doctor. I had a consultation with a doctor today in Boca Raton and I really wasn't pleased as he said I would need 6,000 grafts and it would cost me $60,000. LOL, there's no way I could afford $60,000 for a hair transplant. I was really shocked, sad and felt hopeless all day today after hearing that. I realize he isn;t the only show in town and I'm hoping someone could recommend me a good doctor that isn't going to charge me an arm and a leg.
