Patient is a 27 y/o male from New Mexico. Patient was unable to grow a mustache or side burns. Dr. Friedman placed 550 grafts in the mustache.650 in the left side burn and 440 in the right side burn. Patient is elated that he finally made the decision to get the transplant done. We look forward to seeing him in 6 months!

Patient came to us with concerns of her severe scar and loss from a previous coronal brow lift that cause permanent hair loss. Dr. Friedman told the patient it would take multiple sessions to get the density back in the concerned area. Dr.Friedman was able to extract 1907 follicular units. Placing 1,200 single hairs in the anterior hair line bilaterally, anterior temple bilaterally and temples bilaterally. 707 follicular units were placed mid vertex. Patient is thrilled that we were able to camouflage much of the scar and is looking forward to her 2nd procedure.

He is planning on getting a 2nd procedure to get more density. What we tell patients to expect is in an area that you have no hair expect after one surgery to look like you are thinning. After 2 surgeries you should have the density you are seeking in the frontal area.

Thank you for sharing this case. However, I do have a few questions:

 

Is this patient on any sort of preventive medicine (Rogaine/Propecia)?

 

Second, is this gentleman planning on undergoing any additional work at your clinic? While the results do look refined and natural, I think the density is a bit conservative, and I'm curious as to whether or not he would like a undergo a second procedure to add additional thickness?

 

Third, how many months post-operative is the patient?

I agree, Now that he is at one year he is looking at getting his second surgery to get fuller look. He looks great for one surgery!

While he could go for more, it does look very natural and suits him. If he is happy, I would consider this a very successful cosmetic surgery.

Patient came in had recently gone thru a divorce and was wanting to feel better. He want to feel more youthful. We told the patient what he could expect from 2,500 grafts. We ended up getting 2514 grafts. We placed 951 single hairs in the anterior hairline bilaterally. 1563 follicular units were placed to the back vertex. Patient is thrilled with the results!

Patient came in with concerns of thinning in the frontal region and vertex. Dr. Friedman transplanted 1,100 single hairs in the anterior hair line bilaterally and in the anterior temple bilaterally. 1,632 follicular units transplanted bilaterally in the frontal region. Patient was very happy with the results and the naturalness of the hair.

Patient started to have hair loss 8 years previously. The loss initially started in the frontal area, slowly progressed towards the crown. 960 single hairs were placed in the frontal region to recreate the hair line. 2,073 grafts were placed bilaterally in the the frontal vertex region, mid-scalp to the crown placed coronally. Dr. Friedman sutured patient using the trichophytic closure method. Creating an almost undetectable scar. Patient is very pleased with his 6 month results. Patient noticed hair loss 10 years ago. He currently is on Propecia to stop further hair loss. Patients main concern was the loss of the frontal hair line. Dr. Friedman focused most of the grafts in the frontal area. Place a few in the crown per patients request. Patient came with his primary concern his frontal area. The crown in the last few years has thinned as well. We placed 1,000 one haired follicles in the anterior hair line bilaterally. 3,296 follicular units were placed bilaterally in the posterior hairline, bilateral anterior frontal region and bilaterally in the mid-scalp and vertex. Patient is thrilled with the beginning stages of his surgery. He knows that in one year the full result will be much fuller. I will post the 1 year photo's when we have him come in, in a few months!

Patient came in had been wearing a hair system for the past few years and was tired of the process. Came in to see Dr. Shelly Friedman, the doctor explained with the amount of hair loss that he had he would need at least 2 surgeries. We would start at the hairline and work our way back in the initial surgery. After 9 months to a year we could go in and fill in for more density and work back further. We posted pictures of patient after only 6 months post-op. This is 1 year post-op and patient is scheduled for his 2nd surgery. He is very happy with the results and how natural it looks. Patient is relieved to not be not worrying about working with a hair system. Patient was a class 5 when he came in. Patient wanted to have the frontal area filled in. Dr. Friedman explained that with the amount of loss that he had typically requires 2 surgeries. The first surgery would give him the look of someone who has hair loss (instead of being bald in an area). The second surgery would fill it in significantly and be much denser. Patient decided to have as many as possible harvested out of the donor strip. They were able to extract 3,660 grafts. 1,036 single hairs placed in the anterior hairline bilaterally. 2,624 grafts placed bilaterally in the frontal region and in the anterior mid-scalp bilaterally. Patient is very happy with results looking forward to seeing his 1 year photo's when it is all filled in.

Place as many as we can harvest in the vertex and then the crown. We focused on the frontal area and were able to reach a part of the crown. Yes I agree! This is great results for the first stage of his surgery. I will be updating everyone on his results at his 9 month and year mark.

thank you for your response. At 6 months this is where you first start to see the graphs growing I will post his 9-12 month photo's. He will be much denser in the front and threw out the scalp.

Patient was an evolving 5A. He wanted to get as many as possible and start from the hair line and go to the crown. 722 single hairs were placed in the anterior hair line bilaterally and anterior temple bilaterally. 4,154 Follicular units were placed in bilateral posterior hair line, bilateral anterior frontal region, bilateral mid-scalp and bilateral vertex.

We have been taking all the angles as specified since we started HTN. Since Jan all of the patient's pre-op pictures have the angles etc??¦ Their 6 month Hair Check will be in August/Sept then you will have the type of post-op pictures that was asked of us. That is why up to now we have the type of photo's that we usually took.

This patient's result looks good overall from the photos you've posted. I do encourage you however, to start taking and presenting consistent photos showing similar angles for comparison purposes. For example, a 45 degree head tilt from the front (after photos) or top down picture (before and after) would be helpful.

Patient came in May of 08. He wanted to get as many as possible from the donor area and start from the hairline and work as far back as we could get. We ended up getting 3,299 follicular units; we placed 936 monos in the hairline, 2,363 micros in the frontal region, mid scalp and vertex. Pictures reflect 13 months after surgery. Patient is very happy with his results and looks forward to his next procedure.
