  1. @Blake and @Since21, Thank you so much for your responses, does mean alot. Yes i will check with my surgeon and also probably consult a dermatologist if this itchiness persists. My case of itchiness is just a little tingling and nothing serious as in burning sensation or something. But i had developed it off late so that was a concern. My surgeon had suggested that i use x-gain hair loss shampoo which i have been using off late. Do you guys think that might be causing the itchiness? coz previously i was using the basic J&J baby shampoo and i never had any itchiness and plus when i go out i usually put a cap. Is it OK to have a cap on when you have done through transplant recently? Thanks, Ashwin.
  2. Hi Blake, Thanks for your response. Ya the dandruff looks small and white and when i run my hand thru the transplanted area, i see some cracked up skin coming out as well. But that itchiness is quite persistent!!! Please do advise on how to stop/minimize it. Thanks, Ashwin.
  3. Hello folks/Experts, I am 4 month post - op with FUT procedure. So far the hair growth is OK( prbly 30% have come out). I have a big concern here. I feel real bad itchy feeling of late in transplanted area. I know its not good to scratch the area but the sense of itchiness is so bad that i keep scratching. Is it normal post op? or is there something i need to do to get rid of this ichiness? Also i feel, in my donor area and on the sides, i have alot of dandruff. I am not sure how to minimize the dandruff levels. Any suggestions/advises are welcomed. Thanks and Regards, Ashwin.
  4. Admins/Moderators, It would be nice if you guys put in sometime to update the list of surgeons with the reviews which patients have been giving here. I see quite a few surgeons name being mentioned as top notch but i don't see them in the list of recommended surgeons. For future reference, it would be nice to have all the list of recommended surgeons for those who are new to the forums. Just a thought! Cheers.
  5. Thanks Rootz and Kyo for your replies. So far i don't see much side effects. I was just over analyzing it in my head but i just thought i would be cautious before its too late. But as you said, i will see if any side effects. If not then i will continue using it for as long as i need to use it.
  6. Hello Folks and Experts, I have had my first HT on Jan 6th and have been under medication prescribed by my doc. I wanted to know what's the role of these 2 in terms of hair loss treatment. Could one suffice without the other? I mean, if i just be on minix 5 and not use finasteride, will that help me in any way? The reason for me to ask is, i have been reading alot of articles on finasteride causing alot of side effects one of them being sexual impotency, I just wanted to know what's the importance of finasteride in hair loss treatment. I know the consensus tells me that its 1 in 30 odd patients who get effected and i don't want to be that one unlucky guy. Thanks and appreciate your time!
  7. I am not sure if i just built it up in my head or is it really true? But every time i look at any article online it kinda freaks me out a little. I asked my doc and he said i should be fine even on med. An honest expert opinion would be really appreciated.
  8. I am definately worried about using propecia. I somehow get the feeling that my ejaculation levels are going down day by day. I think this comes as a warning to me that i should stop using propecia. Is there an alternate to using propecia? I am currently using minix 5, does that alone not help in hair re growth? Please do respond as i need to take the pills on daily basis and i don't know if i want to or not!
  9. Thank you so much Since21. That really is very encouraging and relieving at the same time.
  10. Hi Rootz, thanks for your reply. No i haven't been facing any issues in terms of my sex life but am just worried it might in future. I am still not married and hence the concern for me. So far its been over 2months and i haven't had any problems. But looking at the stats am guessing it might be a problem. Any suggestions are welcomed!
  11. Hello experts and folks, I have been reading some stuff about propecia causing sexual impotency and that men loose the drive to have sex over a period of time. Is that really true? Does this really happen? I see increasing study that even small periods of use of propecia can cause considerable fall in ejaculation levels and use of it for long period of times does really cause sexual impotency. We can read all of this in the side effects of the drug itself. Following is one of the case study i found online : Baldness Drug Propecia May Have Long-Lasting, Possibly Permanent Sexual Side Effects - ABC News http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finasteride http://healthland.time.com/2012/04/13/fda-adds-sexual-side-effects-to-propecia-and-proscar-labels/ I am not sure if i really want to continue taking this drug anymore. Need suggestions/ advise on this.
  12. Hi Garageland, Thanks for your opinion. Yes i am going to wait. I am not sure if i can wait till October but am surely going to wait till September to see how these results go. I can already see 50% of the hair come up and am hoping that in a month or so other hair which was transplanted would also come up. Regarding my second surgery, the surgeon had already said that a combination of FUE and FUT would work and plus he would also take out beard/body hair if needed. So am looking at something around 3500 grafts if i needed that many after my first HT. I know my realistic expectations would be just to cover the area and not to look bald rather than going for full hair(which i know is not possible in my case).
  13. Thanks patriot for your reply. Ya i completely agree with you and rest of the folks on this. But am glad my first HT is going pretty good so far. Even though there's no significant hair growth yet which i can put up, but i can see from sides that hair's starting to come out slowly and its only 2 months old. So am pretty happy with the progress and i will post my pics once i feel there's a considerable visual hair growth. Also i had a small concern for you all experts, New hair which is growing is not really that strong, in the sense that when u shave your head and hair starts to grow back, if you put your hands on it u can feel the sharpness of it, but in my case of new hair transplanted i don't feel it. Is that something a concern or an alarm for anything? Should i consult my doc regarding this? Thanks all for your patience and replies!!!
  14. Thanks rev. Ya i understand what you saying. I am sure these 2800 grafts wont go for waste. I am already seeing some new hair come up. Will post my pics very soon. Regarding second HT, I guess i will have to see how this goes and decide on where and how many grafts do i need. But any other experts suggestions are always appreciated...Thanks!!!
  15. Hello folks, I am 2 months post op with FUT procedure. Off late i have been noticing alot of hair fall while i take a shower or when i wake up from bed(pillow has some hair stuck to it). I am sure its from my donor area. Is it something i should be worried about? I have been on medication prescribed by my surgeon, minix 5 and fenpecia . Are these causing the hair fall? I am freaking out a little. Please help me out!!!
  16. Thanks paul for your reply. My doc had suggested to go for a combination for FUT and FUE. That ways it would fetch me better results as per him. And plus, we was ready to do body hair transplant as well. So am expecting it to be something around 3500-4000. Yes i am going to wait for the 1st HT to show results. I am planning to go for my 2nd HT after 8months or so. But my question was, i haven't seen people posting HT surgery where they had more grafts transplanted in second session than first. I know my first session could have had more grafts transplanted but i was skeptical for some reason. Now i feel, i should have gone for more grafts in the first place. Guys please help me with my query.
  17. Hello folks, I have a male baldness pattern VI and I got my first HT done on January 6th in India, when i visited back home, with 2800 grafts transplanted through FUT procedure. So far its looking OK with little progress but my donor area is having shock loss which am hoping is temporary. I am following all the prescribed medication ( fenpecia, minix 5). My question was, could it be possible that i can get my second HT done around September/October with more grafts than first? I believe i was a little skeptical initially when my surgeon wanted to transplant more hair by making using of beard/chest hair. So i told him i will wait to see how this procedure goes? Do you think it would have been better if i had got more grafts transplanted in first and lesser in second? or it really doesn't matter? And also, if i had to go for second hair transplant which would be advisable FUT or FUE? I will try to get some pics from my surgeon and post em here soon regarding my surgery. For now, i posted few pics post-op which i had taken couple of days back. Any and every suggestion is very much welcomed!
  18. Hi AllisWell, I actually wasn't sure but couple of my friends had done the surgery and they had satisfactory results which prompted me to approach them. I know that their homeopathy medication doesn't help at all. But i heard their HT is quite good and that prompted me to go for the surgery. Anyway i have decided to wait for 6-8 months to see how these implanted hair grow and then decide on going for second HT. Any other remarks/reviews would be really helpful.
  19. All, I am 27 year old guy with norwood scale of level VI baldness. I had been to couple of surgeons before but was told that i wasn't an ideal candidate for HT. But i had been to Dr. Batra's clinic in Hyderabad,India and they said that i could get my HT done in multiple sessions. So i got my first HT done with 2800 grafts implanted with FUT method. Its been 2 months now I have couple of concerns/queries 1) Since am no high end of baldness and my donor area is not much, Is it a problem for me to go for second hair transplant? 2) And, How long should i wait before i can think of getting my second HT done? 3) For my second HT, surgeon had suggested to have body hair and beard hair transplanted as well, How good are these if i had to opt for such methods? Thanks alot in advance for your valuable inputs.
  20. Hi Jotronic, I just wanted to know if there's anything that could be done for baldness on top and front of my head. I am 27 year old and baldness has been a problem for me. And he said it could be possible in multiple sessions. Thanks Mickey, ya i will try not to stress but am always curious.
  21. Thanks Mickey for your reply. But is that a cause of concern for me? I had been to couple of different surgeons and they said am not ideal candidate for HT. Please do let me know if this could lead to something wrong? I have been trying to take care of my hair ever since transplant. Even i was surprised when this surgeon was willing to go ahead with the surgery. He also suggested to go for second HT session based on my convenience. He said he will transplant my body hair as well for the second HT. First HT session grafts implanted were 2800.
  22. Hello, I got my HT done on January 6th. Its been 2 months now but i see that the hair under both ears is gone. I used to have alot of hair. But post FUT, I see that there's alot of bald patches as you can see. I am a little tensed that that hair might not grow back. Does this really happen? I have read here that shock loss in donor area is quite common and that hair grows back. But its been over two months now but i dont see any growth. Also, how long before i could see the results of my FUT surgery come through. Its been two months, I know am being a little impatient but just wanted to know when does the hair starts to come. Thanks.
