  1. Totally normal. You might start feel little "zings" too as your nerves "rewire".
  2. Yeah, I had them starting at about week 3. That's about when I started working out again. I'm at week 9 and they're going away. What I did was (1) No sweating. I sweat a lot when I work out. I cut back on running and even hard lifting that would cause sweating. (2) Started using Neutrogena T-SAL with 3% salicylic acid in the donor area (just in the donor area and sides) (3) Occasionally use sea breeze astringent on the donor. This will dry out the oil. (4) Don't stress I'm not sure why this is caused by the surgery, but it also was starting to happen around the side where there was no extractions. I could also feel them coming up. Kind of like the little zings that you get when nerves are regrowing, but different. Good luck.
  3. Interesting. I had never heard to wait that long before, but I might wait a bit more.
  4. Yeah, I'm 16 days FUE post-op and wanting to buzz. I'm thinking that a 2 guard on the clippers should be ok. I originally wanted to wait 3 weeks post-op, but it's driving me crazy now. Pre-op I was buzzing without a guard once a week. The lowest I would go now is a 1 guard, but I figure I might as well play it safe and do a 2 guard for the first pass.
  5. I don't recall much pain post-op. I was popping vicadin and the local anasthetic seemed to linger on for a couple days at least. Another thing is if that I lean my head way back as if I'm attempting to rest my head on my shoulder I can feel a little numbness, but not pain.
  6. I'm at day 16 now of my FUE and although I don't have pain, I still have little tingles that flash at various places in the donor area and there's still some redness in the donor area as well as the recipient area. But it's more itchy in the donor area than anything. The recipient area is just barely itchy now, but no pain or tingles. I've been waiting to buzz it down and I guess it'll be fine to do that on Sunday.
  7. So when we talk about shock loss, it can be a combination of native and transplanted hair?
  8. I'm 12 days post op FUE too I'm wondering if you're experiencing shock loss early. Does shock loss affect the transplanted hair and sometimes the already existing hair too? Maybe that's what's happening to you. I really haven't noticed any shock loss yet. But I know it'll probably get worse before it gets better, so I'm hoping that it's safe to buzz back down in about another week. Good luck.
  9. Hey guys and gals, I'm 12 days post-FUE and had some questions about various topics. I started doing a buzz cut about 3.5 years ago after I thought that it would just look better with my thinning. Lately I had been buzzing without the guard and my doc said to avoid that for the time being. I guess I'll go to a 2 now, but I'm wondering what some opinions are on how long to wait to buzz. The tech shaved completely, so I'm still pretty short, but I'm going to start getting antsy in about another week to buzz since the shock loss will probably be kicking in and I'm just used to having the buzz about once a week on a 1 or no guard. As the months go by I'll probably start incrementing the guard number. Is 3 weeks ok to start buzzing again? What clippers are you guys using? I have a Norelco with a pivoting head that I really liked to use without the guard, and I also have a classic Wahl that seems to work better with the guard, but is heavy and not wireless. The Norelco is light and wireless. I have my wife do the clipping because it seems awkward for me doing the back of the head. My surgeon gave me some shampoo and conditioner called D | Fine (**outside link removed by moderator**) that contains glycolic acid and aloe vera. I'm pretty sure I've suffered from Seborrheic dermatitis in the past and maybe now even, so those ingredients sound good. The glycolic acid to make sure there's no build up and the aloe vera for soothing. But my doc is affiliated with that company in some manner, so I'm always a little wary of those situations. What are others using post HT and what do you continue to use after your recovery period? I might just keep on using baby shampoo for another week or two. I know there's a separate discussion area for working out, but I thought I would throw out some ideas about working out post-HT since I'm already here. I was told very light workout (no sweating after first week), and I can go back to a full work out after two weeks. I sweat a lot though when I work out and worried about the stress that the body goes through when going heavy with things like dead lifts, squats, leg presses, etc. Any thoughts on that? Thanks for any suggestions and comments.
