I think my case is really bad. It's constant all day everyday and I can't sleep or do anything else other than eat. Is there anything you can do in the moment just for some temporary relief since vitamin b helps over time. I may have to call the ambulance because this pain is the worst I've ever physically felt in my life. I'd say I'm at a 10/10.

Sorry to hear that. I can’t remember whether it was constant as it was over a year ago. There is no point diagnosing yourself on the internet if you’re in that much pain (I know that I did, so a bit hypocritical for me to give that advice). I would see if you can get a doctors appointment. Good luck.

    Hey Billy0716,

Writing you because I'm proper desperate. Just had my FUE 9 days ago and my excruciating stabbing pain started on day 6. Today feels a little bit manageable but it's really painful. I'm scared and don't know what to do. My doctor says to apply lidocaine gel before bed and also attempted to sell me some of their own formulated products and I just wasn't having that because I'm upset I didn't get ample warning about this nerve pain which when I brought to them, they treated so casually. I've started reading online and see that it's taken some people years to get over it. Please let me know what you did to feel better and if the pain still comes to you in 2022. I wonder why no one talks about it mainstream.

Please see my previous post for tablets I took - mixture of b vitamins. I’m now over a year post op and have no pain. I’d say it got a lot better after a month and by 3 months it was completely gone. Give it a few weeks, try not to stress. I think it’s rare which is why people don’t talk about it more regularly. Try the b vitamins. Cheers

Hell yeah happy to hear!! Had us all worried for a bit.  Hownis the progress otherwise?

Cheers mate. Back to being as bald as a baby’s ass unfortunately, the grafts have all shed as I’m 5 weeks tomorrow. All part of the process though so counting down the days until I see the first growth. How about you?

  4. Quick update. I’m now 4 weeks post op, and other than the odd stabbing pain (probably couple of times this week at most) my nerve pain has completely resolved. No idea why it took so long but I took vitamin b6 and b12 which seemed to help. I’ve still got pimples in the donor area which are slightly painful but nothing as severe as the nerve pain, and the pimples should heal eventually. Hopefully everyone else experiencing donor pain post op takes some comfort from this, as even when it lasts longer than most, the pain should eventually resolve given time.

  5. Mine is down to a 4/5 out of 10 tonight. 3 weeks post op tomorrow, second fue procedure so perhaps due to number of grafts in total. Didn’t have any pain on the first. I’ve got a follow up call with my surgeon tomorrow as I’ve got quite a few pimples/ ingrown hairs, wonder if they could be irritating an already sensitive area and causing the pain to last longer than it usually would. I definitely feel that at this stage it’s manageable though which is good.

  6. My pain is still here and still intense at 14 days post op. Hopefully it will improve over the next week. Didn’t have this issue with my first HT but most say it resolves around the 2 week mark so hopefully I’ll see improvements soon.

I had the same problems after both of my two FUEs. Balding Boggers reply is basically the same as I was told by my surgeon. It started after a few days and after 2 weeks it was gone.

Got my gabapentine script yesterday, it helped!!! Ask your dr. For that.

Thanks mate. I’ll give it until the end of next week. Unfortunately it’s not a case of asking for a subscription and you’ll get it here in England, and it’s difficult to get an appointment especially since covid, but if this pain doesn’t subside then I’ll have to try.

Called my dr. Presrcribing me gabapentin a nerve blocker hope it works.  I've  had pain since day 3.  Intense

Nice. Where are you based? I’m reluctant to try and get a prescription from the nhs here in the uk as usually have to wait at least a week for an appointment, hoping it’s resolved by then. I’ve been taking vitamin b as read on here that it helps with nerve repair. Let us know how you get on.

    Hi Danny,  How you doing?

I think I had my HT with Dr Bisanga just few days before yours, mine was in the Athens clinic ( I'm currently at day 10-11 ),

Unfortunately I'm suffering as well from some pain;  for me It's kind of waves of shivering that I feel all over my body and at my head it feels like I'm getting electrified,

together with some itciness in donor and some tight overall feeling and numbness in some part of  the scalp,

Those bad feeling are worse at night time while during the day the pain is somehow manageable,

I do take painkillers Ibuprofen that help to some degree (as advised by the clinic) and put aloe vera on the donor,

So, besides that, no too much to do about it.  from what I saw online, it's possible nerve damage that should fixed itself in some point 2-3-4weeks?!~.

it will be great to know when you're feeling any better, crossing fingers it will be behind us soon.

did the pain clear up? I’m day 9 and have intense pain in the donor area that feels like stinging/ burning. Any advice to speed up recovery? Thanks

For all those that think it’s ‘strange’  etc then let me say, any surgical procedure has risks and possible consequences and it can be different for everyone. We all heal differently and just because the majority are fine doesn’t mean to say that those of us who have on going problems such as nerve pain should be ignored and dismissed.

My pain went after 3 years and I tired everything, everything and finally found relief taking vitamin b complex  everyday which I still do today.

    Best wishes everyone!

London, hopefully you are still active in this community? I’m 9 days post op (early days I know). This is my second FUE and didn’t have any extraordinary pain with the first. I found this post a few days ago and immediately went and bought some b vitamins as I’m having intense burning/stinging pains all over my donor area. Are the B vitamins still working, and how long did it take for them to take affect?

  12. I’m having intense donor area pain 9 days post op (been happening since day 4). Had 1800 grafts FUE, my second procedure and had no pain when I had my first procedure of 2000 grafts. Doing research on here and other sites I believe this is related to nerve endings being cut, most say it should pass in a few weeks but read a couple of cases that last for years. Hopefully mine will pass soon as it’s agony!

  13. @JayLDDyou’re perhaps right that Dr Muresanu May have turned me away For not being a good candidate. I don’t think we are saying different things in this regard. The OP asked whether I would recommend getting a HT at a young age, and for me it probably wasn’t the best option, that’s not to say it isn’t right for everyone, but he asked personal opinion based on individual circumstance.

The surgeon I went to originally is one that I did a lot of research on via this forum and who is well regarded in the industry, so I don’t expect that a result at that age to the hairline would have given me a future proof result, irrespective of the surgeon, as I only had a receding hairline without any thinning to the crown. Instead, they probably would have recommended that I waited until I was 30+ to better assess the situation and see how it develops without my willingness to take propecia.

I’m not sure on whether your comment about wazza is a dig or a compliment, but given that he paid £20k for his procedure and I’m a united fan I’ll take it as a compliment!

  14. @transplantedphilDr Muresanu estimates he can get c.1000 grafts more from my donor without further over harvesting. Other doctors have said over video conference that they can get 2000+ more but I decided to proceed with Hattingen on the basis that naturalness is my primary goal, and of course that I have met with him and been examined in person.

I was surprised that the area had been over harvested at such a small graft count but I wear my hair buzzed short on the sides and don’t have any scars so it could have been worse!

I’ll Setup a post on Hattingen progress over the coming months.

  15. I had one at 25. 2000 grafts FUE to the hairline. I’d tell you not to do it, but if you’re anything like me then you’ll probably ignore the advice. I’ve now completely lost hair in the crown area and have to wear fibers behind my hairline (32 now) See photo below ghat illustrates Further hair loss behind the implanted hair line.

I’m currently in the process of Consulting with Dr Muresanu at Hattingen hair who has examined me in person and advised that my donor area has been over harvested during my first procedure. The plan now is to remove some of the grafts in the hairline to make it more natural and place these more centrally to blend back into the bald crown. I will then buzz my hair down in a final attempt to look natural (albeit bald but with some framing of the face).

Failing this I’ve seen great results at Men’s ink SMP, which I had never really considered before but I believe this may be my only option and the results on their pages look great at least. I’d say try buzzing your hair first. If you don’t like it jump on minoxidil for a few years (I never did Until now it’s too late) and then consider your options in a few more years. I would definitely recommend Hattingen if you’re looking for naturalness. My experience with them has been completely honest so far and they will be honest with your expectations.
