The scars have improved over the years because I have had a lot of treatment done on them. Everything from using gels and going to clinics to get microdermabrasion done on the scars. I also use micro-needling on the scar which I do myself at home. These are micro needles that I roll against the scar. The needles penetrate the scar tricking the scar into healing itself. As I mentioned also I have been going for recovery work to an FUE surgeon. He has helped people in the past who have suffered the same fate as me. He fills in the scar and around the scar area with grafts to improve the look of the scar. The man is very very good at what he does. If only I knew of him back years ago. But you can’t think too much about it otherwise it would drive you insane.

Hi there. Yeah I haven’t one good thing to say about this doctor. Not only was I left badly scarred with permanent nerve damage, the hair transplants he performed were disastrous. The grafts he placed on my crown were too spaced apart. It genuinely looked like dolls hair( the only way I can describe it). It was absolutely terrible, very very amateur. Over the last few years I have been going to an FUE hair transplant surgeon for recovery work. He has been placing grafts into the scarring area to improve the look of the scar and fill in the gaps left from the amateur work performed from the other “doctor”.

Oh you had scar reductions as well? Same as myself. Because my scars from the two FUT procedures were so wide I went to a plastic surgeon to have the scars reduced which meant reopening the scars left by the hair transplant doctor and reducing them. Obviously I have no doubt probably causing more nerve damage. What an absolute nightmare this has all been. It has taken so many years of happiness away from me. As the saying goes “ if only I had known I wouldn’t have done it”. Unfortunately none of us has a crystal ball. All we look for was a hair transplant that would make us happy but unfortunately has turned into a complete nightmare.

Hi there. Just wondering if anyone out there has suffered this particular nerve damage from FUT hair transplantation. I had two FUT transplants back in 2006 which led to permanent nerve damage in the back of my head and on my crown. These nerves are located in the back of your head and when they are damaged in anyway like mine it can lead to severe headaches and dizziness amongst other symptoms. The doctor performing the hair transplant removed the strip of skin from the back of my head therefore cutting into these nerves which has led to this nerve damage which is still with with me to this day. I have read up on this Occipital nerve damage which is called Occipital Neuralgia. I have also read cases where this has also happened to other patients. I’m not sure if there’s any cure for this nerve damage only relief to relieve the pain. Has this happened to anyone else out there or anyone got any comments? Thanks again

Hi Speegs, Dr Kiely is Irish. To be honest i have heard good reports about some surgeons in the UK alright. As for my scar repair, i have and hopefully will be getting more repair work on it. It would be great though if something could be done on nerve repair. I have been told that with this type of nerve damage though, nothing can be done because the nerves are so fine or very thin etc. Thanks for the reply Speegs, All the best.

Hi headaball and Speegs, thanks for the comments. Where do i start? The "Doctor" who performed my strip hair transplants is called Conor Kiely. When i first checked up on the internet looking up different hairtransplants surgeons i came across his internet site and it looked so impressive. He was a member of all hair transplant organisations, he was giving interviews on the radio about hair transplants etc. The fact that he was local enough i thought that i would have a consultation with him. He of course showed me pictures of cases he worked on and they looked impressive. When i saw the results my eyes lit up, i felt that this man might be able to help me. I wasn't looking for miracles, but i was young enough at the time and had extreme hairloss and i felt that maybe he could help me. So it went from there. Little did i know how life changing it would be for me. Because after that first hair transplant things really did change. The two hair transplants were only about 4 maybe 5 months apart. I have no doubt in my mind he went too deep into the skin and severed the nerves. To this day as i mentioned in my first thread, i have this numbing sensation that isn't going away. It causes all different issues for example not being able to sleep properly because it gets uncomfortable when resting on the donor site where the scar is, breaking out in sweats, not to mention the pyschological damage it has caused. Over the years i have heard stories about Doctor Kiely and the scarring that he had left behind on his patients after the FUT. Was i surprised? - No! Because he also left me with two large and wide scars from ear to ear. It's been ten years that i had the misfortune of ever crossing his path, now i have got treatment to improve the scarring and thankfully the scarring has improved however this numbing sensation is always there and still gets me down.Headaball might know what i'm talking about. The old cliche "if i could only turn back time". But we don't have a crystal ball, we put our faith in these peoples hands who tell us that they can help us, only to do the opposite. I wish i could have put all this behind me but i don't think i ever will. I would be really sorry if Kiely is still practising as i fear that myself and Headaball might not be the only, can i say "victims". I use that word strongly because everything about my FUT's was a failure. The results were poor, everything from placement of the grafts to the scarring that he left. None of this should have happened.

The nerves in the donor area were cut due to the strip from the FUT and unfortunately to this day has left this terrible and uncomfortable sensation. I am afraid that this is permanent nerve damage, as it has now been ten years that this numbing sensation as I call it is still here. I was just wondering if there is anyone else out there who also has or is experiencing this. I am just really wondering can anything be done about these damaged nerves to be honest. Thanks.

That's great Garageland.There seems to be some really good doctors out there who perform this type of procedure.And most importantly who seem to be really good at it.Doctors Lorenzo and Bisanga seem to be very popular with this type of procedure which is great to hear.

Again thanks for that Tamagochihandler.I didn't realise you had BHT performed on you.I take it you were happy with your results and minimal scarring,if any.Looks like you didn't have any scarring,(which is great).Did you use the BHT follicles/grafts to fill in FUT strip scarring from a previous FUT hairtransplant procedure?Would you mind if I asked you what Doctor performed the BHT procedure on you.Thanks for that.

Thanks for that Tamagochihandler.I heard that Dr Lorenzo performs scar repair using BHT but I will also check out these other surgeons.I am just abit nervous about the BHT, but it would be great to be able to improve the appearance of my scarring.But I will do more research into it.Again thanks.

Thanks for the info Blake.Slightly worried.I would hate to think that there would be scarring on the face after removing of the beard hair.As you have mentioned,it might be best to have the hair follicles or grafts removed from under the chin as opposed from the face.I have seen youtube clips of BHT procedures from Dr Umar.He had filled in the scarring area very well.He does seem to take the follicles from under the chin.I have seen clips of over surgeons and they too take the follicles from under the chin.Really need to get this right.If i go and see Dr Lorenzo i will mention this to him. Hi everyone.I have just a query.I had 2 FUT/strip surgeries done afew years ago which weren't successful.Not only were they not successful i was left badly scarred.I have read about BHT where facial hair (beard hair) can be used to fill in the scars,as best as possible, which were caused by the strip hairtransplants.I have read about a Doctor Jose Lorenzo in Madrid who performs BHT procedure.I have read alot of good things about Dr Lorenzo,how good an FUE hair transplant surgeon he is.People on the hair network forum seem to speak very highly of him.I am thinking of going to see Dr Lorenzo to enquiry about BHT and see if he can do anything about filling in my scars.I am just wondering if anybody out there had BHT performed on them by Dr Lorenzo and if they were happy with the procedure.My big concern with BHT is because of the hairs being taken from the beard area,will there be patches or traces of alopecia left on my face.Would i have to have my face constantly shaved so as to prevent this patchy appearance.Also is there any scarring left on the face both short term or long term after the hairs have been removed from the face.It has been a dissappointing few years,as i mentioned the strip surgeries were not successful,and on top of that the strip surgeries have left a numbing sensation in the back of my head to this day.So unfortunately things haven't been great.I would be grateful if anybody who has had BHT performed by Dr Lorenzo, if they could reply and let me know if they were happy with the procedure and if their face is not patchy( for want of a better word) months or so after the procedure. That's the problem with FUT.Theres always that chance that the nerves are gonna be cut,which has happened in my case.at least with FUE that isn't the case.Thankfully your numbness will heal and should in the near future.I only wish d same could be for me.Best of luck.

Hi everyone.I've enquired about this topic before on this forum.But it's been a while.Due to two FUT/strip surgeries I had done back in 2006 I have been left with a numbing sensation on all areas of my head. has and still is a terrible ordeal.So just wondering if anyone out there has gone through this where you have this numbing sensation years after the procedure caused by nerve damage due to the strip procedure.I have been told that this numbing sensation I have is permanent.I am so angry with the 'doctor' that performed the procedure for not informing me of the possible long term numbness not to mention the large scars he left me with.

Cheers for that Gillenator.I won't be rushing into anything soon.My number one priority though is to try to get some form of help for this numbness.All going well after that i would like to get some FUE repair work done.Hopefully to try and camoflague the scarring.It has been along road and hate to admit it but it has taken control of my life.I hope someday i can put this to bed and look forward and get on with life. Hi there.Just a query i have.I had two strip hair transplants done back in 2006 which were not successful by any means.The 'surgeon' was not a good surgeon.I have come across his name on this hair network forum and it turns out he has done alot of poor work on other unfortunate people.He certainly has changed my life and not for the better.I could be here all day talking about this man but to be honest the thought of him sickens me and the butcher work he performed on me and other patients it seems ( looking at peoples negative threads about this man on this site). Sorry to be sidetracked, what my question is,since the strip hair transplants, i have had a numbing sensation or a very uncomfortable sensation in my head ever since the procedures.The two strips taken out in the donor site were long (seperate procedures which were two months apart) and wide.Sorry i don't have the measurements of the scarrings.Because the scarrings were so wide i went to a plastic surgeon to have the scarrings reduced.The first scarring reduction took place approx nine months after the second hair transplant.But even throughout those nine months i still had numbing sensation in my head.To make a long story short it seems that nerves in the back of my head were severed/damaged when the hair transplant surgeon removed the strip and as a result leading to numbing sensation.They say that for a short while after a strip procedure you should experience numbing sensation.However for me i still have a numbing in the donor area and on top of my head seven years later.I have been to a neurosurgeon and explained to him what i have been through and he has explained to me that there is definately nerve damage there and that if i haven't received normal sensation back within two years post procedure that it is permanent nerve damage.So just wondering if anybody has experienced this and is experiencing nerve damage/ numbing sensation in their head years after their strip/FUT procedure.Also if so, can anything possibly be done to help heal the nerves.I am afraid that this is permanent.It is just a terrible sensation. Surgery might be the only option to reconnect the damaged nerves.My god the thought of it scares me.I have been cut open so many times now.I just know that i hate the thought of going through life with this numbness in my head.It causes me to break out in sweats, can't concentrate, find it hard to sleep because any obstacle that comes in contact with the back of my head, even a pillow causes a very uncomfortable sensation , all caused by the numbing sensation/ nerve damage. Just joined this site lately.Pity i never came across it years ago as i had two strip procedures done by that butcher Kiely back in 2006.Where do i start.Theres 7 years of anger and alot of emotional pain built up since then not to mention the physical damage that he left me.Even after 9 months of his second procedure i was still left with a numbing sensation in the back of my head.And the scars were so wide i had to go to a plastic surgeon to have the scars reduced which meant reopening of the scars and no doubt causing more nerve damage to the back of my head.Because to this day that is what i have - nerve damage.Don't know if anyone else has experienced this but because he cut into the skin to remove the strip he damaged/ severed nerves causing nerve damage and as a result i have this form of numbness or uncomfortable sensation in the back and on top of my head ever since.I was hoping some day the numbness would improve and i could get normal feeling back in my head but to be honest i think it is permanent.It has been along road and still is and causes alot of pain in your life.It was bad enough losing hair at an early age but all you can ask is for someone to help you.But that 'Doctor' or 'surgeon' as he calls himself, Kiely has completely changed my life.For along time i blamed myself for ever coming across him and for having the transplants done by him but like so many it was not our fault.He had a glowing website, he was a member of every hair transplant association of one form or another, the list goes on.Someone has asked in another blog ' how does he sleep at night'.My answer to that is very soundly.Otherwise why else would he still be practising and he is.I might be wrong but i think he's gone from Cork and is based above in Dublin now.He has alot to answer for and i hope someday he is found out for what he really is,unfortunately by then how many more poor souls have to go through what we have.Thanks everyone.
