  1. Interesting. It's a generic. I'll try switching to Merk !
  2. Hi, I had a hair transplant a few weeks ago. Trying to keep what I had before it so re-started taking propeica every 3rd day for the last two weeks. I read a study that said taking it every 3rd day is almost as effective as every day. I've also been taking saw palmetto, pumpkin seed oil, and omega twin with GLA's to pick up the slack. But two days ago, I suddenly noticed that my energy level has CRASHED!!! My body hardly wants to move. I've read online this can be a side effect of propecia. Any thoughts from people with a similar experience? Any recommendations? Should I drop the propecia OR the natural supplements. I want to keep my hair but not at the expense of being a zombie!!!
  3. Hi, I'm wondering... does propecia cause initial shedding much in the same way that using Rogaine would? Or would I expect less shedding with propecia as opposed to rogaine? Just had hair transplant surgery and want to keep what I already had! I'm thinking of trying propecia for a year and then adding rogaine if the propecia doesn't satisfy me.
  4. I just had my 1st transplant about 2500 grafts. I want to do my best to keep the hair I have left. I was originally going to go the natural route of Saw Palmetto, Pygeume, Pumpkin Seed Oil etc... so I wouldn't have to worry about short term and long term propecia side effects. But I just read some interesting literature online saying that taking propecia 1x every 3 days is almost as effective as taking it every day in regards to keeping the DHT levels down! So now I'm thinking about doing that and taking the saw palmetto on the days where I'm not taking propecia. Any thoughts as to if this seems like a good option? Get the added benefit of propecia, beef it up with the Saw Palmetto on the off days, and HOPEFULLY limit propecia side effects?
  5. Looking for Propecia alternatives. Has anyone tried this? It looks promising?!
  6. I discovered Keratene Alphactive Retard online and it sounds very promising. I just had my 1st hair restoration surgery yesterday. Up until a couple of years ago, I had taken propecia for almost 10 years with good results. But finally, two years ago, I stopped because 10 years was enough! And every time I've tried to re-start propeica, I get god-awful headaches. As an alternative to the propecia, now having completed my surgery and desperately wanting to keep my new hair, I'm considering two options: 1) Life Extension Super Saw Palmetto/Nettle Root Formula with Beta-Sitosterol alternating with Hair Vitalics from The Belgavria Center + a pygeum supplement + a decaf green tea supplement OR Just going with the Keratene Alphactive product alone as I spoke to someone online via their website and she confirmed that taking it with saw palmetto or other similar products will make the Keratene Alphactive inactive! Her advice regarding not taking anything else with it was reflective of this statement on their site: ATTENTION: DO NOT COMBINE K?RATENE® alphactive retard with any of the older DHT decreasing medicines! If anyone has a suggestion as to which route to take, I'd love to hear it!!!
  7. Hi, I'm having my 1st transplant this week by a well known NYC surgeon. Prednisone is one of the medications I'm supposed to take afterwards to reduce swelling. But I am very sensitive to all types of stimulants and remembering taking an oral steroid for a sinus infection many years ago and having a bad reaction to it, I don't want to take the prednisone. Any recommendations for alternatives to minimize swelling?
