  1. How Many Grafts ? Consultation result with different Doctors The above titled thread created by me has suddenly disappeared from the list ???? It had pictures and a detailed review of what the popular doctors recommended in this forum has advised me. I am amazed how could such a thread just disappear without even having some people commented on it ?
  2. Please mention detail of whatever you are saying here, and more importantly with the pics.....and request your friends to post their experience here because it will help us a lot of people living in Indian subcontinent and other geographies who cannot afford to go to the doctors in their own countries like us/uk/canada because of extremely high costs there.....
  3. Posted in a different thread but now starting my own on advice of M&M. I am currently in process of online consultation with various renowned surgeons for HT, some of them have sent how many grafts i will need after looking at my pictures: Dr. Rahal's office: 3750 grafts Dr. R.Bernstein : 2400 grafts Dr. Hassan&Wong : 3500 grafts Dr. Pathomvanich : 2500+ grafts I had a meeting with Dr. Bishan Mahadevia yesterday where Arnolder had his transplant done, I found him reasonable, not selling anything, no pressure, he just told me that whenever I intend to take HT with him just inform 15 days before. But the main thing which worries me is: His estimation of graft requirement: 1850+ He calculated it using a scale(a small aluminium sheet with marking in cms) on my head Also, he said you dont need grafts at the top because hairfall should be stable and it looks like either more hair will fall from the crown or you will get it considerably dense by medicines itself. Kindly comment although M&M has already said a detailed discussion is required but here the difference is 50% and I have already discussed in detail with Dr. Bishan. And yes one important thing, he said in 1 sq.cm. area, you should have not more than 30-35 grafts or at the max 40 because your average scalp at back has not more than 80/ sqcm(specific to me) of grafts, 50% of which is maximum you should transplant. Please comment based upon your experience. Please see more pictures in the subsequent posts, these are the same set of pictures I sent to different doctors and Dr. Mahadevia I have consulted in person. You will appreciate that the cost will also fluctuate humungously with these kind of estimates and geographies. Luckily I have got Arnolder and Dreamer to post about both the doctors I am contemplating to undergo HT with, will follow closely with you my friends. All the very best with your recovery. AND here I add, Dr. A advised I need 4000-5000 grafts Regards, tuja
  4. Okie M&M will start with new thread. Dr. mahadevia has reasoned it with my existing scalp density. He said, not more than 50% of the density should be taken in HT. I am not aware whether there is any such standard. Thanks a lot for your advice. I will start my own thread with pictures. Regards, Tushar
  5. Hey Dreamer, Congratulations on the new HT done, will be closely following your progress. I am also contemplating HT this year either with Dr. Mahadevia/Ahmedabad and currently on medication from Dr. R which you mentioned and I have the same doubts with him as you have mentioned because of which I will not go for HT with him. I am following Dr. mahadevia for his transparency, clarity and no sales push at all. Also, took consultation from Dr. Pathomvanich. Both of them look fine to me but there is more visual good evidence available in favour of Dr. Pathomvanich. The cost is almost 4 times though. US/UK/Canada ruled out anyways because they charge whopping sums of money. Will closely follow your feedback. Thanks a lot again for starting with this thread. Cheers, Tushar
  6. Continuing with my previous posts about estimation of grafts sent by different doctors: I am currently in process of online consultation with various renowned surgeons for HT, two of them have sent how many grafts i will need after looking at my pictures: Dr. Rahal's office: 3750 grafts Dr. R.Bernstein : 2400 grafts Dr. Hassan&Wong : 3500 grafts Dr. Pathomvanich : 2500+ grafts Today I had a meeting with Dr. Bishan Mahadevia where Arnolder had his transplant done, I found him reasonable, not selling anything, no pressure, he just told me that whenever I intend to take HT with him just inform 15 days before. Please comment on this if you have any knowledge about this.
  7. Hello all, Is there anybody except TomA who has undergone HT with the said doctor? I am currently researching on a good affordable surgeon with whom I can undergo HT. Please post reviews about the surgeon. Only TomA on this website have some reviews about this doctor, TomA, do you know other patients who can show me their pictures and help me get some feedback about the doctor. From your posts I have got some confidence about the doctor and have started believing I can also undergo HT with a doctor better than in India, and it will reinforce my search findings if I can get some more feedback from the patients of Dr. Pathomvanich. Though I have got some pictures from Bill post of few patients....... CLAY you have made a long post in the recommendation of the doctor, could you please post your pictures ? Thanks & Regards, Tuja

  9. Shamil, Awaiting your pics.....your seems to be a nice feedback on this thread, your pics may help lot of us to decide for undergoing HT in India.
  10. Hi arnolder,SS999, Thanks a lot for your feedback. SS999 could you please upload your progress pictures after 1-2-3-6 months ? If you dont want to, u can PM me the same, that will be of great help. Thanks, Tuja
  11. No, I guess that detailed consultation cannot happen on mail. Thanks M$M for the answers.
  12. Need advice from experience fellas: I am 26, Norwood 3.5-4. I am currently in process of online consultation with various renowned surgeons for HT, two of them have sent how many grafts i will need after looking at my pictures: Dr. Rahal's office: 3750 grafts Dr. R.Bernstein : 2400 grafts I am awaiting responses from others, but can there be a huge difference in the number of grafts estimation when the doctors have seen the same set of photographs. Also, for me the price they have quoted is exorbitant, I understand that its that way in US & Canada. Is there any financing available if I still want to take it up. Awaiting to see your feedback.
  13. Hi SS999, Arnolder, Please keep posting your progress, I am scheduled to go for an HT in June with the same doctor, will be keenly following your progress. Since living in India it will be very expensive for me to go to other countries and thus will be going with him only. Regards, Tushar
  14. Dear Arnolder, Thanks for the prompt reply. Your pictures are looking great and encouraging and I am looking forward to the HT more positively. I am a little scared though because ultimately it is a Surgery. Also, after surgery, I feel I have to be socially secluded Do you keep your head covered while moving out of home with some sort of cap or anything ? I am concerned because I am working and cannot take many holidays. You didnt mention how much was charged to you ? I wish you all the very best for your speedy recovery. This website is great and I am thankful to all those who took this wonderful initiative to start this forum. I would try to contribute to whatever extent I can, thankyou all the members for posting your reviews about different doctors and minute detailings technical, non technical, psychological things related to hairfall problems. An appeal to the senior members, specially Bill - please comment on whether you can know how many grafts have been implanted or you just have to trust the surgeon. Regards, TJ
  15. Dear Arnolder, Please keep posting your progress, and if possible can you write what all wah charged to you ? I am looking forward to get the transplant done by the same doctor in June,2009. I am meeting the doctor once before that, I can do that since I livev in Mumbai. Your picture looked good, I am grade 4 patient for hair transplant. How do you make out the number of grafts taken by doctor are truly told by him ? Its not about the particular doctor but anybody, is there any way ?? Await advice from other senior members of the forum. I am looking forward to get transplant done from this doctor because of folowing reasons: 1. Transparency on its site at very minute level about the costs involved. 2. Email consultation I have done through him, the answers look honest. 3. The pictures also whatever is uploaded on its site are decent. 4. I have mailed some of the people who had given feedback on his site, all of them have given a positive feedback but I have not seen any of those people's pics You are the first person I have found out who have uploaded some pics, please keep uploading your pics every 15 days. Thanks, TJ
