  1. Thanks for replies, more will be added but I'm only looking to cover the frontal and forelock. Waiting for propecia to hopefully do a decent job on the crown, since it seems to be working a bit. I think the apparent decrease in native hair is more projectional then anything else and maybe due to hair length discrepancy. All other pics seem to show stabilization and even a little growth. I was wondering whether this is expected for 1400 grafts, and how many more i may need to give decent density to the grafted area.

  2. Where are you guys counting finger lengths from- above or below the eyebrows?

Tacolino-yours actually looks slightly lower then my proposed hairline and I'm measuring about 5. I'll post pics soon.

I know it's high, but I'm trying to figure based on prior pics and or experiences whether it looks bad or just like a receded, mature hairline.

I agree that a lot is probably dependent on the head shape.

  3. so I'm schedule for an FUE and plan to go quite conservative. I'm a 3A-4 and having frontal and hairline work. I'm trying to figure out how high a hairline I can go with that will still look good. Reasons for conservative approach are average donor density, and I'd like to have age appropriate hairline in 20 years.

Are there any pics or forums detailing the height of hairlines or size of foreheads? I've searched the forums but can't find any such threads?

    Thanks

    CC

  4. Hey Recedingboy-what did you end up doing for concealment. I'm in a similar situation, scheduled for an FUE and thinking of shaving my head until month 4 or 5 when it starts growing in.

Thanks for all the feedback, its appreciated.

Presuming I go the FUE route, I still think its best to shave at op and not pre-op. Wait for that right time when grafts have not shedded but redness is gone and then go to work.

But after that, why do people who have had an FUE transplant not continually shave until their hairs start growing in? Then, after 5-6 months stop shaving and let it all grow?

  5. True-i have considered that last point you mention about going lower in the future, but still trying to imagine what an 8 or 9 cm hairline would look like filled in, since I'm currently very thin in my frontal and hairline areas. Are there pics online or on this site that demonstrate different sized hairlines to help those of us out who are trying to estimate the optimal size.

  6. I've narrowed it down to feller and T&D since they both seem good, honest and show great results. I like the conservative approach of T&D with the zig-zag, natural, asymetric appearing hairline.

Any difference between True and Dorin? Has anyone had work with both of them and prefer one over the other? They seem to be interchangeable on this forum.

  8. thanks for the replies and especially thanks for Dr Lindsay's professional opinion.

I went for a consult with two of the highly recommended surgeons on this website and one recommended strip and the other FUE for~1500 grafts. the strip proponent stated that yield will not be as good as FUE and there's potential for coalescence of dot/scars. The FUE proponent claims that over the last few years, with refined technique, the yield is comparable and FUE noticable scarring is rare. I'm still contemplating between the two, but in my opinion I agree with Mickey, that worst case senario, the potential disadvantages of strip seem to outweigh the advantages, compared with the disadvantages and advantages of FUE. In other words the risk: reward ratio of each in my opinion favors FUE. If I get suboptimal yield with FUE, I can always go back and get more or finally come to terms with my hairloss and buzz my head. If I have a bad scar from strip, there's no option around it. Granted, most strip scars look fine but what if I'm the outlier. Isn't that the point of all this research-to prepare for potential less then optimal situations. I mean if we knew the recipient and donor sites looked great a certain way every time, and with a certain doctor, then noone would argue about the method or clinic in which a patient should have it done.

Just my thoughts, but curious to hear others' opinions about that line of logic.

    Thanks
