He believes in preserving future grafts for future session if needed. Dr Reddy has done cases with 4000 grafts and more but these are usually special cases with exceptional donor area and matured hair loss. As I mentioned earlier, Dr Reddy's technique is cherry picking chunky grafts, so we can achieve good results with a large number of hair and smaller number of grafts.

53 year old gentleman presented to us with advanced Norwood 5 pattern of hair loss. His hair loss was pretty stable and he requested his hair to the spread equally in the recipient area. 3611 grafts were transferred over 2 days yielding 7563 hair. Attached are his photos 3 years after. He wishes to undergo a further procedure to achieve a bit more density in the crown.

30 year old male came to us requesting correction work. He had 3 FUT surgeries in the past and felt the density was very poor in the front. On examination, he appeared to have a lot of scarring in the recipient area & we believed that it might have the reason behind the poor growth. It was also established that his hair loss was pretty stable and the only loss he ever had was the shock loss associated with the previous surgeries. He was counselled that his yield might not be excellent because of the significant scarring. 1307 grafts were transplanted in 1 day yielding 3603 hair. Extraction was fairly straightforward despite the previous FUT scars, however placement was difficult due to a lot of popping. Attached are photos 9 months after. He is happy with the outcome, though we believe a couple of hundred grafts will make it better. He is not on any hair loss medication

This 23 year old male came to us with a 5 year history of hair loss. He explained that he had sought help at an early stage of his hair loss but was advised to use strand by strand technique. As a consequence, he lost a lot more hair due to the glue used in the hair piece. On examination , he had a Norwood 5 pattern of hair loss & his donor area was reasonable. Dr Reddy stabilised his hair loss with Propecia & Minoxidil over 12 months & he was advised to stop wearing the hair piece. After extensive counselling, we booked him for a FUE surgery. He was advised against restoring his crown as Dr Reddy felt he needed to preserve hair for future work if any. 3211 grafts were transplanted over 2 days, yielding 7309 hair. Attached are his photos 6 moints after. He is continuing Propecia though he has come off Minoxidil as he had compliance issues. He seems reasonably pleased with the progress so far.

Denny, I believe Maines has an interesting question. I was amazed and intrigued after seeing the first results posted in this forum. I have noticed that Dr Erdogan' s patient donor area looks in some cases better than before the surgery. I asked that earlier but got no reply, does Dr Erdogan use some kind of microcellular matrix or even stem cells to improve wound healing and tissue regeneration in the donor area? Dr Erdogan's advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks for a very valid and interesting question. Whilst your aforementioned approach of picking grafts containing singles and doubles is very valid, Dr. Reddy has a slightly different approach to hair restoration. He believes hair restoration surgery is akin to gardening. Let's say the grafts at the back of the scalp can be compared to trees and the grafts at the front to twigs. He believes to achieve a decently dense garden, one can place a lot of twigs or place a reasonable combination of twigs and trees, with the twigs being primarily used for the front. Secondly, he believes the retention rates for grafts is much higher when a smaller number of grafts are placed in an area, meaning less number of incision sites and less chance of overwhelming the scalp. Lastly Dr. Reddy explained that his rates of transection of grafts, including those of partial transection is very little compared to what it used to be when he started performing FUE. He believes that provided enough attention is paid to extraction, the number of multiple haired grafts extracted can increase exponentially with the expertise of the surgeon using manual punches. This holds good for future transplants as well, as from our experience, we still get a rate of around 2.2 – 2.4 hair per graft when a client undergoes second or even third procedures with FUE with minimal rates of partial transection and minimal scarring at the back. I hope we have been able to answer your query to a reasonable standard. Please do not hesitate to contact us as Dr. Reddy is clearly impressed by the quality of questions and the amount of knowledge and expertise among the community.

He is a young patient with a lot of donor hair. Our objective was to preserve maximum donor hair and to take least number of grafts from the back. Dr Reddy always believes to extract chunkier grafts and he does divide them when needed. We believe the whole process is beyond scope of this forum. Please read this article written by Dr Reddy about hair graft ration in FUE: Hair Graft Ratio in FUE | FUE Hair Transplant | Restore Hair Clinics

23 year old male. 5 year history of hair loss. Came to see Dr Reddy 3 years ago requesting a hair transplant. He was advised against having a hair transplant and his hair loss was stabilized over 2.5 years with Propecia and Minoxidil. Dr Reddy performed an FUE procedure on him 6 months ago as the client was keen to move on with his life. A conservative hairline was agreed with maximum preservation of grafts for future use if need be. A total of 2611 grafts were transferred yielding 7393 hair. Dear Mickey - thanks for sharing your concerns . Having spoken to Dr Reddy he does acknowledge that it is possible that hair in dormant stages can sometimes be transferred to the hairline. He however uses grafts from the nape of the neck and mostly obtains the singles by actively seeking for one haired FU's or dividing FU's with 2 hair follicles to give a softer hairline. He however acknowledges that you have made a very valid point & it is highly educational for technicians dividing the grafts to actively seek for dormant follicles in grafts. He also understands that he needs to improve his photography skills & I shall try to take pictures myself & hope such scenarios can be reduced in the future.
