  1. It is true that i could of gotten a HT, but the consultant adviced against it because it would not have a great look. Sure they could of transplanted hair but it would just have looked thin and just plain bad. I have low density and thin hair, so it would just have been a waste of money to make me look terrible. The hair around my sides and back is already really see-through and the top would have been a lot worse. I have since then been slowly getting used to shaving my head. I even showed up to places with friends and family without covering up. I still wear a lot of beanies and hats, but I believe I will move on. It is a surprise to some people that say "oh you shaved, why?" They don't mean it in a bad way... they just don't know how bad my hair is because I never show it and they think I still have a good head of hair for my age. All in all though, it is not a big deal to them. And as far is women.... I can't really tell yet because I haven't tried, but I'm hoping there is someone who doesn't care. I still feel that women my age will find it to be a turn off. Still not giving up though.
  2. Yeah ive been reading about those before. Thats what i had in mind when i said 5-10 years. Plus it will be really expensive when it does happen.
  3. Thanks for the thoughts. Ive been on fin for years now. I probably wouldnt have any hair on top of it wasnt for fin. Im getting used to the thought of my hair gone but not really there yet. I showed a few friends and family with my hair buzzed. My friends were like yea finally man lol. My family thought it was a style choice but didnt really think it was a big deal either. I think its going to be another 5-10 years for anything viable as far as teatments go. Im staying on fin just to keep my hair from getting to the "horse shoe" look as long as possible. If something worthwile comes along Ill try it, bit im not getting my hopes up and i might not care anymore by then.
  4. I know exactly what good hair does for someone. If there is a good method out there and im financially able to do it, I probably will.
  5. Future generations are so lucky. A decade is too late for me. If I have the money at that point and it still matters I might do it, but unlikely as it will probably be a fortune and hopefully I wont care anymore.
  6. Im hoping i can cope with the shaved head. Good luck with ur ht. Hope it works out for you.
  7. I think in 15-20 years there should be something good for hair loss. Probably unlimited donor supply. As far as micropigmentation. The person who touches it will probably be who I will worry about. I'm talking about in a dating situation. It will be awkward and embarrassing.
  8. @nick153452 yeah it definitely sucks. It sucks more now that I know I wasted all these years just to be in the same position. I could of had a better buzzed down look earlier and worked my way to the present and still had a social life. Probably would of been in a better place right now.
  9. Ive used concealers before. I dont like how they leave a mark if touched. Ill just stay on fin for now.
  10. Surgery was cancelled because I was not a good candidate due to my diffuse hair loss.
  11. You guys are right. My confidence is the issue here. I am trying really hard to gain it. Thats why I have a long term plan. I just know myself and it will take me a while to build up to it. The reason it will be a while is I plan on getting in shape by xmas and getting my look together along with my attitude towards myself. I figure six months and I can get myself in a good spot in all areas. If I try to go out now, I will be way out of my comfort zone and it will show. I'm trying to minimize that. I know my self-esteem is bad and I'm working on it because, like you said and I've heard many times, confidence is what matters.
  12. I dont trust bosley. Plus my sister screwed up my credit with ge.
  13. At this point Ive decided to use my savings for other things. Ht is too expensive to risk for a probable good outcome. Im just going to have to accept it. If not now then when im old and it doesnt matter. Im hoping i can get over it.
  14. I don't like to compare celebrities because they have their fame to backup their success with women. And they have great facial features for a shaved look too which i dont believe i have.
  15. Thanks for the kind words. I will go to a pro and see what they can do with my head. I'm warming up to the buzzed look. I'm not sure about complete shaven because even though it might look good, I don't like the up keep of keeping it clean shaven. I will keep you guys posted on my progress. I have a plan to hopefully be good to go around christmas time. It's my favorite time of the year and gives me enough time to get in good shape, find a style and build my confidence with my head. I know it's a bit of a long time from now, but I always set myself a long goal plan to make sure it gets done right. I'm planning on getting lasik too. My sisters say it's one of the best financial decisions they ever made. I never thought of myself of having the "tough guy look" but with a beard and shaven/buzzed head I don't think I have a choice. It's hard for me to imagine because I'm actually very timid.
  16. I don't know about looking into other doctors because I don't want to get my hopes up and be let down again. It's been a long road with a lot of let downs and I just don't have the energy for it anymore.
  17. Thanks guys for all the support. The ht consultant did say it was a smart move to meet him because he thinks I would of regretted the transplant. I'm trying really hard to accept myself and be confident.
  18. i'd rather not take a financial risk like that. plus, it will take a lot because it's diffused all over.
  19. If you look at the pics when I'm in the sun you can see how the diffuse hair loss makes me a bad candidate. I don't know about completely shaved yet. I really hope I can get a good looking stubble. I really dug myself into a hole wearing a hat all the time around people. I mean ALL the time. No one has seen me without a hat for years. I wish I would of just started buzzing it down in the beginning and just let it be. Thanks for all the support. It really has been helping. I will keep working on my confidence.
  20. My hair loss was horrible. I never got to experience good hair because around when I started high school it was already thin on top and you could see the scalp. It was like this for a while and I had thick hair on my sides and back. Only in the past 5-7 years did my sides start to go thin too. It is like if life is telling me "gotcha, no transplant for you!" I am going to get in shape. I have already been working out with p90x, but now I'm going to get serious about it. I really hope you guys are right about my looks, I'm slowly working up to owning it. I think what makes it difficult is that everyone I know has thick luscious hair, even my brother who is older than me. Lame....
  21. Thanks. But the buzz doesnt look that great in the sun. Will have to go shorter. Hopefully it works for me.
  22. I don't know what to tell ya. I'll make sure they are not trying to just get your money. Really ask them what you expect to get and what they think you can get. The consultant told me that he had one guy visit him that got a ht when he shouldn't have and it ruined his life. Your situation may be different because I was reading your thread and you mention that your hair was like this since you were young. Mine wasn't. I started thinning on top when I was young and had thick hair in my donor area. Over that past few years it started thinning out.
  23. Okay so I took pictures to see what it looks like in the sun. You should be able to tell now why I wasn't a good candidate for a transplant. I could also tell that this buzzcut is not working . I think the lighting in the house made it look better than it actually is. I will try shorter I suppose.
