  1. scooter, U chose a good doctor. I had a HT by Dr. Aroch in Feb. of this year & I have seen good progress on my hair growth.
  2. Does anyone know what's the best product/cream for strip surgery scar treatment?
  3. Stevieenright, I use a moisterizing conditioner called Folicure which comes in a white bottle. You said u get gunk buildup in yr scalp thats why I said you should wash every 2-3 days.
  4. Stevieenright, Just a reminder to wash hair every 2 days with Nizoral. Plus I use a shampoo conditioner to soften the textual of my hair.
  5. McdesSLK, I think it will shed some more to resemble yr hair before yr procedure. My hair shedded tremendously but it is starting to fill back in after 3 months.
  6. HairLongGone & Lagrandeur29, I'm an african-american male who had a hair transplant (HT) 2.5 months ago. I suffered from male pattern baldness (Norwood 5) & I know how the both of you feel. It's still early to tell if I can see any results but I'm happy I made the decision to have it done. I went to Dr. Arocha in Houston, TX so he is worth contacting; I would recommend contacting a few of the recommended HT doctors on this network. Keep doing research on this network to fully understand the process of having an HT done.
  7. JohnJohnB, I started using minoxidil after a week of my HT to all areas on the top of my head. Shockloss is going to occur anyway even if u don't use minox. But wait a week after yr HT to use it.
  8. It doesn't say what the percentage is, for example, 1% or 2%. I don't know about this one.
  9. Propecia can help stabilize your hair loss.
  10. Jayson290, Do you use the equate brand? Thats what the bottle looks like in the pic showing yr hand?
  11. Dr. DeYarman, Can you use rogaine before or after when applying a moisterizing lotion? Also, Cant decide mentioned it is better to apply rogaine on a wet scalp. Is rogaine effective applying to a wet rather than a dry scalp?
  12. cimbom, Just to piggyback off yr question: If I wet my hair before applying rogaine & then use rogaine on my wet hair, is rogaine effective that way?
  13. I would try to keep it moist to manage the scabs but doing nothing I think would not hurt. Get advice from your doctor on the first week post-op.
  14. futguy, I had my FUT procedure Feb 2 with one of the coalition doctors. The doctor's office gave me graftcyte shampoo to keep the grafts moist for the first week. I also rub the shampoo on the donor area for faster healing. I gently pat the recipient area dry after I spray the shampoo mixture on then I gently rub the donor area horizontally with antibiotic gel as well. I would not rub the donor area too hard because it may stretch the scar. Don't use shower pressure on your head till after 7 days post-op. For as the vitamins I take 5mg biotin & propecia to help stabilize hair loss. Like you said the main thing is not to disturb the grafts within the first week & wear a loose wave cap or durag if possible. Did your doctor give you some kind of shampoo mixture & antibiotic gel to help aid in healing?
  15. I use B&B Super Gro hair & scalp grease for my hair; it contains coconut oil, sage & sulfur, Vit. E & protein. I wanted to know what are the best hair greases on the market for hair regrowth?
  16. Dwight, I agree that African-American hair gives better density with the least amount of grafts. I'm an African-American male that just recently had a HT a week ago. Illusion would be a better word if plugs or fake grafts were implanted but it is yr real hair. Illusion to me sounds like something imaginary.
  17. My surgery was painless & with smoothly. I would suggest you look into getting on propecia & rogaine first before looking into a hair transplant.
  18. Hi All, I finally had my FUT procedure done by Dr. Arocha today. Let me first say that the doctor & his staff (Graig, Maria, & Myra) are excellent. Let me outline what I did that day: First, I meet with a nice lady at the front desk to take care of my financial matters. Kira is also nice but she wasn't in that day. Second, the doctor & Graig took pre-op pics of my hair & discussed what areas to tackle first, in my case, the hairline, temporal, & mid-scalp areas. Also, I discussed the donor area & how big it might be. Third, the procedure started by taking a few meds for relaxation & pain and a prick of a needle for numbness for the donor area. Honestly, I felt the prick from the needle but besides that no pain. The cutting of the donor area & the insertion of the grafts were painless. Overall, I had a good time talking to the doctor & his staff plus the BBQ lunch was great. So if you are an African American I would highly recommend Dr. Arocha for a consultation to discuss yr hair loss problem.
  19. NoNamesNeeded, I agree with mixedguy don't limit yr search just to Boston. I'm an African American male & questioned the same thing about my hair. I just had my transplant today with Dr. Benardino Arocha (Houston,TX) & he is great. He will go through all yr options being an African American male & what to expect. His staff (Graig, Maria, & Myra) are very nice & experienced at what they do. So I would consultant with him first to see what he can do for you.
  20. I'm on Propecia & I see my crown getting thicker. Finasteride should help the crown & mid-scalp region but not the temper area from what I'm told. You should think about getting on the medication asap.
  21. JayWalker Did you have a hair transplant before?
