Looking at the one month pic, you must have had a lot of shock loss. But it all came back pretty fast.

True, i didn't really know what shockloss was or if i was effected. But i still did have hair in the front originally, just always combed it forward. Then for the surgery he shaved it the zone to maximize success. I couldn't tell what fell out but i think most of the grafts did. How do you define shock loss? I'm still foggy on it i suppose.

I had a transplant surgery 6 months ago and have had great results. My progress so far. But I'm now working with my wife to have our first child and our doctor recommended going off finasteride. I'm not sure if it's had a negative effect on fertility but I'm not taking any chances. I've been off for almost 3 months.

Does any one have any recommendations for alternate natural pills they've taken for keeping the hair in? I'm using rogaine foam twice daily, just trying to keep as much in the crown as possible.

Aside from the fantastic hairline design that made me select Dr. Konior, I look at my post-op and I'm still impressed with how clean everything is. That shot reveals the maximum amount of blood I ever saw. The surgery was truly a breeze before and after.

Here's an update to my all-in-one progress tally from pre-op to 6 months.

6 months, everything's coming in great. These shots are taken under direct light from above in the restroom so it can show remaining thin areas. The great thing is that these thin areas aren't noticable every day unless I'm under harsh light. Also I can still feel new hairs sprouting through when I tough the recipient zone.

My natural crazy wavy curl is coming back though I haven't been able to comb my hair back like this since freshman year of college. This process is like a time machine. Thanks Dr. Konior.

So my right side is thinner and I assume too that it correlates with the fact that it was thinner than my left before the transplant too. More native hair in general in one zone over the other. (Overall everything is thicker than it was before already) What do you think, was your left side thinner before the transplant?

5 Month update! My hair's natural wave is definitely back. It's coming in stronger on my right side than my left. Since there's a lot of curl it provides a great deal of coverage.

Hey guys, I've started a progress image now that I'm at month 4. I'll update it throughout the year.

Good question on the scar. at the 2-month mark it itched a lot, now I don't think about it hardly at all. I can feel it, but my wife has to peer deep in to the hair to even find it. Dr. Konior is a masterfully clean surgeon, and it healed quickly after the sutures were removed. I don't think I saw more than a few dry spots of blood in the entire process. Seriously, it was a blood-free experience.

Growth coming in at my 4-month mark. My hair's a little longer and the sprouts show up all the time. It's hard to tell how long they've gotten but the general thickness is definitely progressing. Here's to month 5. I can see where my thinner spots always were when my hair initially started thinning in college, the middle in the front and my right side temple. So it's little bit like going back in time to 2003, haha. I know that those sections will even out once their all completely grown in.

Ah yeah! I'm a Konior-brother myself and it looks like we had surgery around the same time from the talented doctor. Your photos remind me of how insanely clean my head was too. Minimal blood, my scar is vanished at 3 months, and masterful hairline design. I can't wait for what we both end up with.

Also, random note -- Dr. Konior's assistant provided me with lunch, a turkey sandwich and orange juice, and I swear it was the most amazing meal I had ever tasted. I know it must have been the valium, but DAYUM I still remember it distinctly. SO good. Drugs are powerful. also, say no to drugs kids.

I've hit my 3-month mark. I've got some sprouting going on, the hairline design is starting to come in. Below are shots of my progress, which is fairly close to where I might have been without the transplant now that the native hairs have grown in. Though I know the hairline framing wouldn't have been there, you can just see where my thinning areas on the front and right temple have been. One shot shows my hair without the above bathroom light, and shot in lower light.

Front combed back, living room combed back, side combed back, and combed forward. (optimal styling for now.

I've used Nanogen and Toppik, to me i've switched back and forth a little but it seems like Toppik is somewhat higher quality. It seems to last longer in the bottle before turning to premature fur. Perhaps I use too little of it, not sure. But the powder-essence of Toppik still seems to be the best from my experience.

Thanks man, appreciate the feedback. Yeah I think that's a good plan. For about 3 years I followed all of Dr. Konior's patients and results and admired his lack of schmoozy marketing alongside his realistic hairline designs. I just knew deep down that eventually he'd be my guy when I had the cash flow, and he completely outperformed himself as a surgeon and how he treated me as a person. He's just a guy who nerds out over hair, he loves it and the impact a hairline has on framing the face naturally.

I see you're in the UK. Even better is that he's right outside of Chicago, so if you flew in someday you would have a great reason to come see a gorgeous city.

Congrats on your Konior ht! And thank you for sharing your experience and journey (your hair restoration site is particularly thorough and well done). You wisely chose one of the very best ht docs in the world. Everyone should heed your advice not to "go cheap" when deciding on a ht doc, even if you must beg, borrow, finance, or steal. This is cosmetic surgery, after all, and you want the very best cosmetic surgeon you can find. That usually means paying more for their skill, talent, and experience. Looking for per-graft "bargains" is fraught with peril.

 

Also great for you that Dr. K managed to get nearly 1,000 more grafts than were targeted.

 

You're totally right, I waited for a good 2 or 3 years until i knew i was financially ready to pay for the best. I always knew eventually I'd get one, and I got well more grafts than I ever expected. Thanks man, appreciate it.

Spanker, you're a good guy. I received an HT from Dr. Konior in July. We're on a similar track bud, and I'm excited to watch your results. Way to go on starting a thread right away.

By the way, did they feed you a turkey sandwich for lunch while you were there? Tom got me one with orange juice and it was seriously the best sandwich I'd ever eaten. Was it the drugs? Cause I still can remember the taste....

This is my first post and I wanted to share my journey and hair transplant by Dr. Raymond Konior, who is located in the Chicagoland area, US.

I had roughly 3950 grafts all placed by his skillful hands and have been extremely pleased with the progress so far. It hasn't even been three months since my July 2012 procedure but I felt I should start a post to encourage anyone else interested.

This network truly helped me get to the decision I feared regretting-- going with a bad surgeon. So for that I thank you guys. Fear not with Dr. Konior, he's an artist like many have stated prior; particularly with realistic density and masterful hairlines.
