  1. If you have already had one FUT and were pleased with the scar does having a second FUT come with the risk of a larger scar? Or can you expect more or less the same result the second time around?

I guess I'm wondering if you've already had a moderate sized FUT are you locked in because you already have a scar or is there good reason to switch to FUE for the second round?

Looking to fill in more of the crown this time.

  2. It's been about a year since I visited these forums. I had FUT done about a year ago and was considering another round. There seem to be quite a few posters on here now warning people against FUT and the dreaded scar.

Have opinions changed in the last year on FUT vs. FUE or have I just stumbled across a few negative threads on FUT? Last I looked FUT was able to provide for a far higher number of grafts and the scar didn't seem to be such a big deal if done by a good doctor.

  3. I hate to rain on everyone's joy parade but I'm a huge skeptic. Be very cautious. This mirrors an experience that I had years ago, buying stock in a small biotech company.

Supposedly, they had developed a new device and surgical technique for cataract surgery. They painted a pretty picture and gave a very optimistic outlook, including assurances of FDA approval. When people pushed them for more substance or meetings, something always happened. Time tables didn't match up, last minute issues popped up, etc.

There were bulletin boards then too. They had several people posting that had claimed to have seen the device and the technique work, then subsequently vouched for it. It was touted as revolutionary. When they were questioned strenuously or when interested seemed to wane, more postitive news would pop up, mostly in regard to interested investors or pending FDA approval. I can go on but I think most of you can see where this is going. The glowing supporters turned out to be plants.

Let me say that I don't know this surgeon and I don't know anyone who has had a transplant from him. He may be a phenomenal surgeon for all I know. Regardless, flares went up when I read this thread.

Truly, I won't be surprised if I hear that people have contacted him in regard to being investors, hear that some have already invested or that he's planning on incorporating and having an IPO as soon as the FDA approval comes through.

Not sure this is being fair to Dr. Wesley. I didn't see him asking anyone on this forum for money.

I'm met with Dr. Wesley and, while the scheduling didn't work out to have a HT with him, I found him to be a very honest and knowledgable doctor. I would be completely comfortable with him.

  4. Gobble - Where do you get a one year supply of Merck's Proscar for $50? Do you mean generic finasteride? I will only take the branded product. Thats not to say generics are not technically equivilent but I prefer to stick with the innovator's product for my own reasons and based on past expieriences with other generics products.

$50 (plus or minus) for finesteride. I've never priced proscar.

  5. You can get an online prescription for Propecia and purchase it through an extremely reputable outfit called KwikMed. It is a state licensed, US based online pharmacy that prescribes and sells Propecia, various FDA-approved Erectile Dysfunction meds, Chantix, and Ella (an emergency contraceptive).

You fill out a free online medical questionnaire, which is reviewed by one of the company's affiliated physicians, and the medication is then sent to you via Fed Ex or Priority Mail. They don't sell Proscar, just Propecia, so it will cost significantly more per dose if you have been splitting Proscar pills. However, they often email out notices of special discounts for refills.

I've ordered from KwikMed for years and have had universally positive experiences with them. Highly recommended.

You pay these prices? Why not just get a prescription for proscar? You can get an entire year's worth for like $50.
