Second, can you please expand on this statement from your original post:

What do you see as the main challenges/problems with mega FUE sessions ("session" meaning one hair restoration surgery, whether preformed in a single day or over multiple days)? Why, in your experience and opinion, do sessions of, say, > 3,000 FUE (a) substantially increase the risk of donor depletion, and why do they (b) substantially increase the risk of FUE scarring that could prohibit future additional FUE sessions?

 

As to "a" (increased risk of donor depletion), is it because yield will likely be poorer with such large sessions, resulting in wastage of hundreds if not thousands of donor grafts? If so, why is it that yield likely will be poorer with mega sessions? Other reason(s)?

 

As to "b" (increased risk of donor scarring that could interfere with or prohibit addition FUE extractions in the future), is that because such large sessions result in subcutaneous scarring to adjacent or nearby un-extracted follicular units? Other reason(s)?

Below we would like to present a very interesting case.

The patient before consulting HDC Hair Clinic had one unsuccessful Strip procedure from a clinic in Greece, with minimum result and a visible scar.

We suggested maximum FUE harvesting of his donor area, in stages, in order to avoid overharvesting and a possible depletion of the donor.

FUE Overharvesting is something that we have noticed happening more frequently.

Below is the case of a 25 year old patient at the Norwood scale 2-3. The aim was to frame his face with a natural hairline and fill up the thinning gaps behind it.

At an online consultation with photos send by patient and communication by phone and Skype, an estimate of 2000 grafts was provided with the final number placed being 2014 grafts. It can also be noted that we have left some of the natural hair of the patient’s hairline, below our placed grafts so as to give additional naturalness to the result.

The patient was using finasteride long before the procedure and still is.

Hello everybody,

Below you can see the progress of a 2637 graft FUE procedure performed eight month ago and then the immediately after photos of 2479 grafts. This is an interesting and challenging case because the patient had under average donor density but with extensive hair loss.

The plan set from the consultation was to extract maximum that the donor could provide safely over two sessions in order to restore his hair as further back to the crown as possible. You can see below that after the second session we have covered most of the empty scalp looking natural and with reasonable density. I will be updating the progress of his second procedure in due time.

The good management of his donor allows him the option of a third FUE procedure to restore the crown in the future id he wishes to.

The patient does not use any hair loss medication.

I am considering having my second hair transplant at HDC clinc, with Dr. Kyriakos Maras.

I have a few questions, and would be Grateful if you could be so kind and answer them for me. I can't afford to make another mistake

 

- Dr. Maras speaks good English?

. Does he design the hairline, punch the holes and implant himself? Is the staff english-speaking?

- I am having repair from previous bad FUT surgery. My head looks like a doll's hair, just like straw. Is this the place to go, you think? I have searched the web, but can't say I've seen an abundance of posts from the clinic. Though they appear professional to me, especially through e-mail.

- Did they pick you up at the airport and see to it that you got from destination to destination without a hitch?

- Is there tax? How did you go about paying for the treatment? There aren't any hidden costs? They pay for the "hotel" and food?

- Is there anything in particular I should be wary of?

Dr Maras speaks very good English. I am sure if you contact the clinic we will be able to show you results similar to your case. In order to post a case we get the ok from the patient therefore we cannot post all of our patient's results. If your procedure is over 1500 grafts we provide accommodation at self catering apartments directly opposite the clinic and provide food for the days of the procedure. We always pick you up from the airport and of course take you back when leaving.

Below presented is a 60 year old patient that had a strip surgery for 3250 grafts at HDC hair Clinic.

Hi Everybody,

He had two strips for a total of 5500 grafts. The first one was on 20-01-12 for 3400 grafts and the 2nd one 11 months later on 06-12-12.

The result is presented in the post above.

It is interesting however that this patient send us some new photos 22 months after the 2nd procedure and after he has been on finasteride and Minoxidil under the instructions of our resident Trichologist, Mrs. Stella Prokopiou.

We present that he had further improvement than 6 months ago that we presented his result.

Hello Everybody

This patient had an unsuccessful Strip Hair transplant in Israel and then after his research and after seeing some good results from HDC Hair Clinic in Cyprus has decided to proceed with FUE in order to cover the front thinning of his hair and the appearance of the slightly plug strip grafts.

Coming from Israel was very convenient for him as he only needed to fly for 45 minutes. HDC offered him free flights, accommodation and airport transfers.

His result is presented from before and on the 6 months spot. I will be updating his progress in due time.

The goal at this patient case was to frame the face with a defined hairline and fill up the frontal third.

HDC medical team headed by Dr Maras, extracted the maximum possible in one session without risking damage at the donor. This way his donor can provide more grafts for further procedures in the future if required.

The patient was using minoxidil before the procedure and he begun using it again about a month after it. He never used finasteride.
