  1. I can see that this patient is thinning behind the transplanted area. What is the best way to go forward in order to avoid a possible non-natural look of a triangle of thicker hair and an area thinning out behind?

This is a good point, and one thing we always say to our patients is that when they have hair transplant the hair loss of the existing hair will not stop and most probably new thinning area will be created that will need another hair transplant.

This patient is very aware of this fact and when he feels that the area behind the transplanted one is too thin and may start look unnatural, he will come for his second hair transplant.

The most important thing with patient covering the front third of the head and who are potential Norwood 5+ is to keep the donor healthy without over extraction or depletion and HDC has proven that keeps healthy the donor after the extraction of 3000 grafts.

You can see one case that proofs that on this link:

  3. With such a thick hair and minor lowering of hairline, did anyone really expect a bad result?

Its important to notice that this guy had a good hairline before the procedure, unlike most of us here. Its always guys like that who are used in testimonials but they are not representative for the average MPB sufferers. The reason we never see testimonials from bald guys is that they never get these great results, if they did i have to ask why they keep those testimonials secret? Post them up guys, lets see what men with real MPB can expect?

    Dear plunke,

Thanks for your comments. To begin with it is very few patients that accept to provide us with testimonials like in this case as they prefer to keep their anonymity.

As HDC Hair Clinic we post at least one result per month in this forum and on top of this a few our patients post their own photos and experience.

The Norwood scale of posted cases varies and we have already presented cases, with minor hair loss and hairline work only, up to cases of Norwood scale 6. We have been requesting all of our patients at any Norwood scale hair loss to provide us with a video testimonial but most of them prefer to allow us to post their result without exposing their identities.

Below you can examine 5 recently presented patient cases and results with various hair loss at the Norwood scale:

  4. Advanced Hair Clinic is fine. Had mine there and so far so good after 12 days. I've a thread and I'll post updates as I go along. I got it for €3,000 which included airport transfers and 2 nights hotel. I'm going back nexy year to do the back of my head next year

    Hi patrick1916,

I am glad that you are happy with your hair transplant.

Can you please post your case with clear photos of before, immediately after and your monthly progress in order for the forum readers to follow your case ? Please let the forum readers as well know the number of grafts that have been placed for a better documentation.

This way you will be helping the forum readers to compare your experience to others according to the fees you have paid.

  5. Alex did Dr. Maras do this transplant and who were the tech in the room?

    this is a fantastic result!

Hi Arrie, sorry for the late reply but I was on vacation.

In HDC we believe that the hair transplantation process can give better results when we work as a team.

FUE is a quite complex surgery and it needs a lot of time, care and precision to end up with the perfect outcome. We want to employ the so called “specialization of labour”, which means we divide this surgery into various stages and try to use the best member of the team for what they can do better, in each stage.

The doctors are doing the most productive, creative and essential part of the procedure that involves decision making and the technicians are doing a lot of the tedious work so that the doctors can concentrate better on their part of the job.

The technicians used for this case can be seen on this link http://www.hairtransplants-hdc.com/lang-en/Our-People/pageid-8/

Our technicians have 5 – 13 years of experience with HDC as they have been with us since we started delivering FUE in 2003. They are used interchangeably in almost all cases.

The technicians are doing the transfer of the grafts from the head to the petri dish which includes also extraction.

The placing which is the most tedious and the most time consuming part of the procedure is done by our excellent placers using forceps (not implanters), thus making sure that the grafts are not traumatized and placed correctly and in timely fashion. Two placers per patient are used and each placer can place on average 500 grafts per hour giving the capability of place 1000 grafts per hour. By this way we can achieve the minimum duration of the procedure and maximum comfort of the patient.

I hope this answers your questions.

    Regards

    Alex

  6. Was this client taking finasteride or other DHT blockers? How long did his previously transplanted hairs last? Why add more hairs instead of fixing the underlying problem leading him to continue to lose hair?

    Hi zhairz,

This patient was never and still not using hair loss medications. If you mean fixing his problem with medication that leads to his hair loss instead of going ahead with hair transplant then from my experience there are several reasons someone does not use meds with the main ones being:

    • tried them and do not work
    • I do not take pills and I am not discipline enough to be using topicals daily

There are more like I did not know about them and now is too late etc.

Please let me know if you require more clarification

  7. Great coverage with that FUE.

I didnt know that it sometimes isnt possible to FUE around a scar = less grafts for FUE after FUT. Interesting.

I do hope he has more grafts in the bank for the future though. He's only 31. Any native on top wont be there for long.

Again the fUE looks really good.

    Hi MAGNUMPi,

Sometimes is extremely difficult to extract grafts near the Striped area as the stitching messes up the direction of the hairs below the scalp making it impossible for the doctor to avoid high rates of transection. At this case the team did not find serious problems and managed a good harvesting.

His donor as you can see from the photo after his last procedure looks in good shape and can be more explored in the future if required.

  8. Is that really 3000 grafts? Could Dr confirm whether the patient is wearing concealers in this picture please?

HDC in Cyprus has been delivering and presenting state of the art Hair restorations for many years with clear photos of before, immediately after and final or progressing result and has no need to cheat to present bogus patient cases or results. I am confident regular readers can support my opinion.

  10. Hello Everybody,

This 31 year old patient had a previous Strip procedure at another clinic. Fortunately he had a descent Strip scar without any damage of the hair above and below the scar. Frequently Strip scars affect the direction of the hairs surrounding the scar, which reduces the number of healthy grafts that can be harvested from an FUE procedure.

At his case we have managed to extract 3000 grafts that were distributed in a spread pattern within the grafts of the previous Strip procedure.

You can see the case presented below with before, immediately after and 11 months post op photos.

  11. Hello Everybody,

I have just came across a great example supporting the article above, of a 25 year old young patient that had 2030 grafts to his hairline and other thinning area as shown below, 8 years ago in 2008. This patient is type 2 as described in the relevant article.

From these, you can see the before and after result in the year 2008.

This patient came back to us this year, in 2016, to add more hair to the areas that he lost his own existing hair. This shows how a young patient can develop after a longer period of time, when he loses his existing hair and remain with the transplanted hair. He is now heading for Norwood class 4-5.

In this case, the hair in the middle front part which seemed strong at a young age of 25, have gradually dropped by the age of 33. Nevertheless the appearance still seems normal but an additional hair transplant is needed to maintain this normal look.

He is now planned for a second procedure on the 4th August 2016 and I will be updating in due time for his progress.

    Regards

    Alex

  12. Hi Everybody,

This patient who is 35 years old had a receding hairline which he tried to correct with micropigmentation without satisfactory results.

HDC restored his hairline by slightly lowering the temples as it can be seen from the photos with the design below using 2000 grafts.

The grafts had to be dense packed in order to match the high volume of his hair behind the hairline. With dense packing in this case a natural cosmetic outcome blending the implanted with the existing hairs has been achieved.

His result is presented by before, immediately after and 15 months after photos of his hair transplantation.

Photos send to HDC by the patient who is living abroad.

  13. To our experience a lot of young patients are very interested for Hair Transplantation.

We always try to give the best advice to these patients and in order to understand the correlation of Hair Transplantation and young age we have created this article that you can read at this link:

  14. Hello Everybody,

Below is the case of a 32 year old patient at the Norwood scale 3. The aim was to frame his face with a natural hairline and fill up the thinning gaps behind it.

At a one to one consultation in Tel Aviv, an estimation of 2500 grafts was provided with the final number placed being 2680 grafts. It can also be noted that we have not lowered his hairline as it would have looked unnatural as the patient matures.

The patient was using minoxidil 5% long before the procedure and still is.

We present photos of before, immediately after and 12 month result.

  15. Hello Everybody,

This is a Class 4 patient who underwent an FUE Hair Transplantation in HDC for 3350 Graft.

You can see his result after 15 months.

Please notice that we have drawn the hairline above some of his native hair in the front because otherwise his hairline would have been too low and would have looked unnatural, as the patient will be maturing. Also if we have taken the hairline to his original position it would have been too low and it would have put pressure in his donor capabilities for future requirements because as he matures he can progress to a potential class 5-6 on the Norwood scale.

Patient is very happy and willing to fill up any areas that may get thinner in the future.

We have taken some photos with flash and some without in order to eliminate the effect of lighting in the result.

    Regards

  16. Alex, Did Dr. Maras work on this patient or was it someone else?

    Hello Arrie,

Dr Maras is HDC's Medical director and overlooks all the procedures. Most of the times he is also the performing physician. The way the work is distributed in our Clinic is described in detail on this blog article.

  18. I don't see how you can combat redness on the recipient area besides letting time in general do it's thing?

    Hello Beebz,

I think that there is no straight forward answer to this question.

We need to say that each patient reacts differently on redness but from our many years of experience we have noticed that our patients sometimes they have more redness in general and other times they have less redness. Some years before we allowed patients to use minoxidil 10 days after surgery and then we have noticed that this practice had prolonged redness therefore we have changed our instructions. We now advice patients to begin if they wish, or most of the time continue their minoxidil treatment one month after surgery and only if the redness has gone completely. If the use of it produces redness again then it must be discontinued until the hair will start to grow after the 3rd month.

I believe that redness has to do also with other factors such as the trauma caused to the recipient area from the creation of the sites, the depth of the sites, the size of the needle or blade used for the creation of Sites, and the post operation treatment right after the procedure.

Most of our patient nowadays have less redness or no redness, similar to the example in this post that you can see here.

I hope I have given some light to your question.

    Regards

    Alex
