I tried fibers a long time ago and didn’t quite like them. Don‘t they wash away if they get super wet or look unnatural in the sunlight? Additionally I would find it hard to find fibers to match my true hair color I think. Do you recommend a specific brand?

Try Mane thickening spray / root concealer. I've used it for over 10 years and they offer a travel sized option so you can trial it for less money....it works great for me. Don't go for their expensive 'lock in spray' just get some strong hold hairspray from the supermarket and spray it on afterwards. It survives rain and wind until I wash it out.

  2. I agree with early November to make the most of the dark weather.

The point about whether the clinic will be mentally checked out waiting for Christmas is an interesting one.....every office I ever worked in basically had a "f**k it, it's Friday" mentality and did nothing on Fridays, but my procedure with Dr Feller was on a Friday (10 years ago yesterday!) and it was a first class experience and turned out great.

I think the professionalism of the reputable clinics means you'll get their full attention no matter when you sit in the chair.

Why is it bad? If his midscalp or crown balds which is usually not that important anyway, he can use body hair + remaining scalp hair

    Hairline is the most important

it's already balding, you can see that at 1 minute 13. the problem is the area of the crown and midscalp is as big if not bigger than the hairline....it isn't a smart distribution of your finite donor area. the remaining donor might fix the mid scalp but he could be left with a huge crown and body hair is no guarantee.....if he'd played it safe and had 2,000 grafts in the hairline he'd have an extra 2,500 grafts left in the bank for the problem areas that have already developed.

It's an amazing result now for sure but it's risky

  4. That hairline is too low and square...especially with your age. No reputable doctor would be willing to do that.

Take a look through the results posted here from start to finish - you'll be surprised how a hairline that looks too high and receded immediately post-op ends up turning out to look amazing.

Please hold off on making any decisions. You've found the right place....you should sit back and do nothing but read, absorb and ask questions for the next 6 months.

The whole 'loosely fitted' hat thing seems to be a myth

How can a baseball cap be so loose it doesn't even touch your grafts?

I wore one today and no matter how loose it was it was touching. A bandana is a way better option in the early days

    Not true.

I wore one to go walking around New York the day after my surgery...and the day after that I flew back to the UK. I even kept the cap on the entire flight because of course I happened to be sat next to a stunning girl and I was embarrassed to take it off.

No damage to grafts at all.

  6. These are known as concealers because they don't treat hair loss but they conceal / hide it until the next time you wash your hair.

Dermmatch is the name of a brand, i haven't used it but i believe it's like make up that you dab onto the scalp. The most well known fibre brand is Topik, you sprinkle them onto your head and it clings on to whatever hair your have left.

From what you said about your hair, it sounds like concealers would work very well.

  7. Don't worry! My FUT surgery was a Friday and I flew home on the Sunday so I didn't go back to the clinic. The day after I wore a big loose fitting hat and walked around Manhattan, and the day after that I flew back to the UK.

Dr Feller gave me painkillers and shampoo and explained how to wash - I believe it was just use the suds and water on your hand very very lightly rub them across the scalp and grafts, and to not stand underneath the shower head. He also gave me his number and said to call if there were any problems, but it was all fine. i wasn't given spray or anything like that.

Just make sure they explain to you what you need to do and don't leave until you are certain you understand. Basically just be very very careful and sensible, it isn't too complicated.

I think that's a little bit of an aggressive assumption to imply that because I would ask this question that I've not done research about my doctor or other topics. What is the point of a forum if not to ask questions? / provide support I searched the forum before asking the question and, frankly, didn't find that much information about what others have done. Maybe I'm not the best at using the search tool, but even if it's been asked and answered before, the more times it appears, the easier it'll be for people to find later on and the more feedback there will be.

It's also not a 'silly' question - certainly not by comparison to 'is it painful' or 'is it expensive'. Every doctor advises something different when it comes to abstinence periods for alcohol, smoking, sex, exercise, etc.  So why should it be 'silly' to ask for peoples' experiences? Hearing others' experiences is one of the major points of a forum if you ask me.

I am personally glad others are posting their experiences so thank you everyone.

Not the first time that poster has had a condescending tone, just ignore them.

  9. Everything looks normal so far. Don't forget that you have very long thick hair around it which makes the transplant look even worse than it normally does at this stage.

This is just the beginning. I have always worn my hair long and it took me until 2 years post op until the transplant was chin length and could match the rest of my hair.

You have a long road ahead, it's hard but the best advice is to forget about it as much as possible.
