  1. no, there was little evidence in clinical trials that a higher dose of finasteride had significant results. 1 mg was optimal.
  2. hi guys i have been on propecia for years and i also noticed it was losing its effectiveness. your options: 1) make sure you optimise your regimen - use the big 3 ( Nizoral shampoo, minox, and propecia) and make sure you take propecia every day at the same time. 2) exclude other causes of hairloss ( hormones, using some body building supplements, infections of scalp, even stress, allergies to hair products (youll be surprised how often this is a problem) go to a dermatologist to have some bloods taken for this. 3) if it still doesnt work, you can try avodart. i would recommend trying it slowly- once a week to start with. avodart IS more effective than propecia but be warned - its long term side effects are not known. there is some evidence that it can affect the brain, as neurrons have receptors to this type of DHT blocking. use this drug with caution. i tried avodart for 6 months- yes my hair was thicker, and certainly i grew some more, but i had terrible abdomen pain. after a while i gave it up. 4) the best way (IMHO) is to take 0.75 mg of finasteride every 12 hours. so at 8 am and 8 pm. this gives a more consistant theraputic range, as finasteride only has a half life of 8 hours (+/-) This really worked for me... i was recommended this by another doctor who called it Dr V's technique. he also recommends taking avodart for 6 months, then trying to maintain the gains after with this regimen. of course it goes without saying you must use minox and niz shampoo. a healthy diet, NOT smoking, and exercise is always recommended too.... hope this helps...
  3. ill post more pics if you need them...just tell me what you want, wet or dry, and what ever type of light...
  4. Hi guys I am now 2.5 years post op! I had 2 FUE procedures with Dr Alan Feller... So starting off : why did I want an op? I started receding when I was 22, but it was very mild. being a doctor myself i was able to start propecia early, and for 7 years my hair remained much the same as it was. but the receding look really bugged me. i gave myself a couple of years to think about it, and after alot of research, i chose dr feller. Why Feller? I liked his accurate and detailed pics. it was clear that he had nothing to hide. he had a great attention to detail in his work, and of course, his results are consistant. THe next step was meeting with spex, and i really like how he was there NOT as a salesman, but as a guy trying to help others make the right choices on HTs. I was very nervous throughout the journey to new york, but feller and his team were great! they really are fantastic people. The first op was a full day, and feller was there throughout the op making sure everything was perfect! i had about 1300 fues in the first op, and 6 months after i had another 1400 grafts. if i had to do it again i would have done it all in 2 days, but at the time i wanted to take small steps, it just felt safer. Some details about me:30 yrs old, i take propecia ( Dr V's schedule- 0.75mg every 12 hours. i found that propecia 1 mg per day was begining to fail after 5 years. i thinks its because the half life of finasteride is only 8 hours or so. by taking a little less every 12 hours, you get more consistant cover) i went cold turkey off minox after the 2nd op- a mistake i think- alot of hair was lost. but that could be shock loss too. im still not sure. im thinking about getting onto minox again but im not sure. has anyone tried the foam? i flew back a day after the op, which was tough! but it was nice to recover at home. the growth was great! im thrilled with the result. i can style my hair any way i want now. hair transplants WORK if they are done by the right people. please feel free to ask any questions. the future: im not sure... i wanna hear from the good dr feller and see what he thinks. after the last op, he thought a small fue to the peak might finish the look.
  5. what about dr feriduni? feller is a top doc though... they have all had their fair share of bad eggs, but i do know that dr feller is one of the few docs you can trust.
  6. hi guys, Im 30 years old and have a small amount of hairloss in the front. ive been on propecia for many years now and my hairloss has been very stable since i started. i want a slightly stronger hairline. I have seen many results, and some docs that come to mind are : Dr feller, Dr feriduni, and Dr rahal... I want an FUE... Dr rahal has some amazing results but seems to be new in the FUE field. my question is: how does Dr feriduni compare to Dr rahal?? thanks in advance for your time! PS Bill and Pat - thanks for a great website...
