  1. I choose to trust Spex because of his being mentioned in the Guardian, Daily Mail, BBC Radio 5, and various other places I appreciate everyone's input but because of the minimal work i want doing (600 grafts FUE) I've decided to go with Dr Lindsey on Spex's recommendation, although I still need to raise the money so might have to wait a while but I'll see what happens Thanks again
  2. as feller says in one of those links "He has minimal hairloss with no family history of major loss and because of this he was an excellent candidate for FUE." which is exactly me! im not sure about bisanga, ive seen a couple of results and its cheaper but my gut says no, was considering SMG but they pretty much said it would be a poor result if i went with them! i think feller might be the way to go, though there does seem to be a finite number of results for him, those ones you posted Spex i've seen before though they are good, is it that some people dont come back for post op pics? obviously this is the same for every other doctor though
  3. I am pretty certain 400 - 450 will be enough, it's pretty minor work but it would make such a huge difference to me $10 a graft does seem like a lot but in pound sterling it's only ?6.4 so 400 grafts works out about ?2500 but obviously you have to factor in flights and accommodation etc
  4. Thanks for your comments, i've decided against strip and am very interested in a small fue transplant with either feller or shapiro, about 400 grafts, but having contacted SMG they don't seem keen to do the procedure, commenting that "a hair transplants can easily look like a transplant if it’s not done correctly. The hairs can grow wiry and kinky. Perhaps see some patients in person." I understand that people might be reluctant due to future loss but why are they discouraging me from a transplant stating that they can look "wiry and kinky"? It was my understanding that modern transplants were of a high standard, barely detectable if at all? this response from SMG has disheartened me immensely Why are people only willing to help if you're hairloss is very serious, having this far back hairline has frustrated me for years and all i want to do is fill it in slightly so i can get some confidence back and start living my life again! How do I go about meeting with UK patients who have had procedures with shapiro or feller?
  5. Hey, what's going on with this guy now? his pics stop after a few months but the procedure was around a year ago, anyone got any recent pics i can see? im thinking about surgery with feller, cheers
  6. Hi guys, What do you think is the future of hairloss? How will the industry look in 5, 10, 20 years? Do you think stem cells will make it possible for limitless grafts? Will surgical methods become flawless? Or will surgery become obsolete if a cure for mpb is found? I'm interested to see what people think about this stuff I'm potential getting surgery in a year or two, will things have changed much in that time?
  7. Hi guys, I know FUE v FUT has been done to death but I just wanted to ask your opinion on something i've been thinking about People say fue is best for small amounts, ie under 1000, things like that. but the yeild can be as low as 50% But if you were get fut for a small amount then the scar would be smaller? if the yeild is more like 90% with fut as i've read then would this not be better? fut is cheaper also i never plan to have my hair short enough to have the scar exposed, so would fut not be such a bad idea? i'm thinking about going with feller btw
  8. Hi guys, thanks for your posts so far I think I should clarify a few things, there is no history of hairloss in either side of my family, my dad has the exact same far back hairline that i have and he is now in his 50s and it has not receded, my hairline has been the same since around 16 i believe From 16 - 24 I was very stressed all the time and ate poorly, i did not understand the detrimental effects of stress and it pushed me into depression and i do have some anxiety issues that are certainly exacerbated by my hairline. I had surgery last year for mild gynecomastia which you can see here if you are interested Booked with Karadis for August PICS ADDED You might notice that my case of gynecomastia was pretty mild compared to most but it still seriously affected my life, since the surgery I am much happier with my body and it is no longer a struggle to find thick t shirts and wearing lots of layers and having a poor posture from hunching over to hide my chest, and i'm hoping that the same results will occur if i choose the route of a HT (though i understand it is very different procedure) With regard to further loss, I have actually seen regrowth in the past year since i got my stress under control, starting exercising, eating right and doing some meditation, at the temples there are small white hairs that have sprung up but dont seem to be growing back to full length, though some have I genuinely believe that i will not experience any hairloss in the way that people are suggesting might happen, my far back hairline is not a result of MPB I am however concerned about shock loss as a result of the HT, though i believe that is unlikely as i am not experiencing MPB? With this in mind would you still advice against a HT? Also would anyone suggest simply a small amount of fue instead of fut? And does farjo now perform fue? Money certainly is an issue for me, though i understand that getting decent work is very very important, people have spoken a lot about uk surgeons being poor but for such a small amount of work would it really be that much of a risk? rooney went with farjo and he could have gone anywhere in the world! thanks for any responses
  9. i want the bits above the temples filled in really, they have just always ruined my confidence and it would make such a big difference to me from what ive seen of feller i am hopeful of a good result but am pretty scared about flying out to new york to be honest! also money is pretty tight at the moment and im worried about hiding the procedure from my family other than that i hope it happens!
  10. Hi chrisdav, It will be good to see how your hair looks in a few months, did you meet up with spex before you went out there? Also, i am not actually balding but just have a far back hairline, would you still have had the procedure if your hair was not receding any further?
  11. Hey, I am starting to think Feller might be the best option, might be meeting up with spex soon, do you have any before and after pictures by any chance? How much did the surgery cost with flights and everything? cheers
  12. Hi guys, i've been thinking seriously about getting a HT for a long time now, after much research I've decided either Dr Feller in NY or Dr Farjo in Manchester (i live in england) I'm not balding but I have a far back hairline above each temple that has always furstrated me and has cost me my confidence I'm only 25 but my hairline has been the same since i was a kid and there is no hairloss in either side of my families, my dad has the same far back hairline and it has not changed at all, he is now 51 I originally thought about fue but am thinking maybe fut because it seems to be more effective. Do I sound like a good candidate or will I get turned away? I am thinking of gettting a consultation with farjo in january with a hope to getting the HT at the beginning of summer 2012 Please have a look at the attachment, i know it might not seem bad to most people on here but it bothers and seriously affects my confidence Any advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers
