  1. This is my first time posting on years on this forum, and your post spurred me to do so. First of all to offer my condolences for a terrible transplant, but secondly to offer some hope and support. Your situation is somewhat similar to mine - I got a transplant in the temples way back in 2007, it wasn't great either, far from it. However my hair has always been quite thick so it covered it. However in 2024 the old botched transplant is now being exposed. So I've got your back buddy! I am i the same boat - and I have decided that I am going to get a second hair transplant - the good news for both of us, are there are lots of great surgeons out there now, and that it is fixable. I think I am going to go with Dr Bicer in Turkey. I will be contacting them soon for a quote
  2. thanks for taking time to reply, I'm a gym regular, and reasonably in shape, they keep closing the gyms here though. Maybe it's because all 2020 I've not been consistently able to work out I'm having problems. Is free testosterone related to DHT? I'm going to go to a private doctor to discuss, here in the UK the NHS just is useless when it comes to this kind of stuff
  3. Thanks also for the reply, very interesting things to look into. I'm just a little bit weary of finasteride. I didn't know it boosted testosterone though. So you're taking nettle root to keep the hair, and zinc is giving a gym boost. Interesting, I am taking a test boost supplement with zinc in it (no idea if it will work). I need to get my blood tested, right now cos of the old covey everything is shut down
  4. Hi all, been years since I posted - hope all is well with everyone. Recently I've noticed a distinct lack in libido and my erections have been non existent for over 6 months now, so I have started looking into boosting my testosterone. I am not taking any hair loss meds. However, with the increase in DHT boosting test might cause - is there any way I can take some kind of DHT blocker to keep my hair, along with some kind of test booster? It is starting to recede again, and starting to reveal a temple transplant I had back in 2007. It seems that I can either go bald, with no erectile disfunction. Or have erectile disfunction but keep my hair. I know people say that only 2% of people suffer ED with things like propecia - but I am not comfortable taking this. ED has been a problem in my life before, and I don't want to encourage it further! I was going to try saw palmetto, but been reading mixed reports. Hope somebody can provide some discussion here and food for thought!
  5. Hi everybody, it's a good few years since I posted anything on this forum - last time I was all set to go to Thailand and get more work done, but in the end changed my mind! So a few years on and I think I can no longer postpone it - I need to get a bit more work done. I had surgery way back in 2007 on the temples, but the quality was not so good. I got FUE in 2007, and despite reading FUT has greater yield I'm now reading that is somewhat of a myth - plus I really don't want that big grinning scar along the back of my head. So, since money is an issue, plus I live in Australia - which FUE doctors would you recommend, or at least point me in the right direction to? Australia is pretty much out due to costs, as are many of the English speaking nations. I would go to Thailand but Dr Pong and Dr Path apparently don't do FUE anymore. hope you can help
  6. actually apologies to the board and to Dr Pathomvanich. It appears I was given inaccurate info - After I'd contacted the clinic I read on some Thai travel forums a few days later the situation had worsened in the area. Also my girlfriend phoned friends she knew in Bangkok and they said the road was flooded. However that main road near the clinic is massive and stretches a long way, so they were obviously talking about the road in a different sector. Sorry for the confusion.
  7. Thanks for the answers everybody. Dr Pathomvanich, are the authorities saying anything about what the situation is looking like in December? is it expected to be much better by then? The only websites that provide seemingly accurate info I can find are in Thai, can't find anything online in English predicting the next 3 or 4 weeks
  8. personally i'd just come right out with it. After my first FUE operation I went to a barber, it was a woman cutting my hair - I was living in Glasgow Scotland at the time, where people don't mince their words and can be quite cutting with their remarks at the best of times. As she started to comb my hair back and the newly growing hair became obvious I just laughed and said "try not to expose those too much, I had a hair transplant 2 months ago so am hiding it until it grows in". I just did it with a smile, a couple of people looked up but I just brass balled it. The result was that she was actually fascinated by it, and since I had just came out with it, the embarrassment was gone. She was asking me about it and by the end they were asking me the names of websites so they could show their husbands as an option since they were losing their hair too. It's not the barbers place to judge you, he's a barber - that's it.
  9. also a photo blog here by somebody, posting this as like others on the forum, I've only seen a few Dr Pong photo blogs, and thought this might be useful info for people trying to decide whether or not to use him. Hair Restoration Journal -1 month pre-op
  10. Hi everybody, I've been trawling the forums every day trying to find out info about Dr Pong in Thailand. I found a page today on the ISHRS website detailing his credentials. Thought I would link it here for your information. ISHRS Medical Hair Restoration Doctor Profile Page
  11. i may see you there, I might be getting surgery done on the 14th! However I am yet to take the plunge
  12. Thanks for that info Mathieu K. My concern is what the floods are going to be like in the first week of December, I would have also wanted to be recovering in Bangkok near the clinic in the ensuing weeks should I need to go see the Dr. I don't know, it's a tricky situation
  13. by the way, i meant to ask, how is your HT growing in Rod? I remember I saw your photos back in May and it looked like it was growing in nicely.
  14. Hi Rod, nah I'm not booked up, I was all set to do so then learned of the extent of the flooding. There is no way on God's earth I'll be wading through water after it's done. My problem is also the window of opportunity for the HT, it's going to close soon, which is what is making me think about going to the Pongster, as it looks like these floods are in for the long haul. Considering my first HT I did NO research into the doctor or his clinic, and about 50% of the implants are no longer there, then i discovered I had actually gone to one of the UK's worst - I think even the fact I am posting about things and in email consultation with Dr Pong etc etc is a massive step up lol! I know what you mean about the lack of 12 month updates, but then again, I reckon many people post like crazy pre - op, then a bit post op, then when things start to grow they are happy and get on with their lives and forget about the forums - I know I probably would (although will try not to). Perhaps Path has way more western patients as he's in Bangkok? I dunno. C'mon Pongers, we need to hear from you all! Andy
  15. when are you heading over there? I am going to try and get booked up in Chiang Mai beginning of next month. I think I have pretty much decided Bangkok is out for an op by Dr Path'. The flood situation seems to be getting worse by the day, i reckon in the next week or so the water will be in their street!
  16. Hi HarrHarr, yes please do post some photos - I am almost at the stage of booking Dr Pong, would love to see some more of his work before I take the plunge!
  17. thanks for the reply. Yeah that's what I'd thought around 3 months. Any thoughts on the smile effect? Or do you reckon that's just with really short hair?
  18. I don't know if waiting is an option, I am due to be heading to Latin America early in 2012 and want to get it done before I go whilst I still have the funds to do so. I would say "damn these floods" but that would sound awfully ignorant and bad considering people have lost their homes and their lives - my heart goes out to them :-( I should really make an online donation. in fact I think I'll do that now!
  19. Hi there, I am trying to determine what grade of clipper can be gotten away with after a HT and still not give away the scar? Is it possible to get away with a 4 or 5 or have haircuts like the links below? I wouldn't want to shave my head to grade 1,2 or skinhead level, just might like to have short back and sides or a buzzcut http://www.yeshairstyles.com/wp-content/gallery/jake-gyllenhaal/jake-gyllenhaal-short-buzz-cut.jpg http://www.televisioninternet.com/news/pictures/matthew-fox.jpg Also, I've read about the scar causing a "smiley face" effect with shorter hair cuts, not the scar that's visible, but the way the hair lies and it appears darker throughout the scar. I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on this? cheers Andy
  20. sounds good, I thought as much. it all depends on whether or not i choose Dr Pong though. araveang, have you made a blog or do you have photos? When did you get your surgery?
  21. yeah I had a transplant back in 2007 with an awful doctor and my head swelled up like a pumpkin! I actually looked completely difference, I had black eyes too - like a boxer. I've been checking the updates on the floods and apparently Chiang Mai etc are free from flooding - the water has moved down to around the centre and Bangkok as it makes it's way to the sea. I was initially going to get the HT done in Bangkok, but this flood is looking like it's going to creep into the inner city centre. I have a lot of work to get through so the free wifi will help! I'm from the UK by the way but living in Australia
  22. Thanks for the reply, I might even do some photoshop trickery to show him the exact hairline! I was actually going to spend all my time in Chiang Mai, as my gf said it's really beautiful - I may have 21 days to kill. If you say it's boring then I might re-think that. Don't want to do anything that puts the grafts in jeopardy though, so partying, gym, scuba diving and rainforest walks are out I guess! How long did you stay for? Did you spend your recovery in Thailand?
