Nothing personal man, but I'm not seeing any evidence that that would assist in inhibiting DHT. If anything, a google search seems to imply that transdermal pregnenolone causes hair loss. Are you talking about a topical solution or a pill?
This could be true if your hormones are already screwed up probably.
-
I also wanted to point out one thing that may be confusing, and that is that the link I listed is his theory about using preg along with thyroid hormones...
I believe the preg ALONE will have some benefit in fighting hair loss.
-
How does it work? Is it similar to the natural solutions that everyone seems to be fond of?
Has anyone else tried it?
I explained it very briefly how it works above. I will post a link of the thread where it is explained more on musclechatroom.com below....
Im not sure what natural solutions you are talking about? please explain.....
Has anyone else tried it? I'm sure there are others who use it but not for that benefit, but I even heard someone during an radio interview with Dr. Crisler saying that TD preg has helped slow down his thinning hair...Dr Crisler even said during the interview that hes had other patients that have experienced that benefit as well..
Will this work for sure? I have no clue, but theres no risk in trying, as I said its pretty much harmless as long as youre not applying 200 mg a day or something stupid.....
The link below is one person's view point on the subject, but he makes some very good points and has a very good understanding of hormone metabolism.. He diagrams vividly how pregnenlone works to help fight male pattern baldness. The person is a moderator of Dr. Crisler's site.. If you want a link to the video I can post that as well If i can find it, but I won't look if you are not interested and are not going to watch it...
ANYWAYS, I thought this would help those out who cant take Finasteride due to side effects.. I will repeat and say that I have a hunch that taking preg would even help those who are suffering from side effects of the meds as well..

If your not responding to propecia and rogaine I suggest you try some transdermal pregnenlone. Its known as the happy hormone and can be bought at any pharmacy... If you live in the US, which you do not, so you will have to buy it on Amazon.com....
The reason it is somewhat affect in hairloss because it lowers DHT metabolism and raises cortisol..I've heard of ppl who have tried it said it has worked decently over on Allthingsmale.com (Dr. Crislers Forum Site). Also known as musclechatroom.com. Dr. C is probably a top 5 Anti-aging doctor on planet earth.. He knows his stuff..
The good thing about it is that its pretty safe and fool-proof.. Hence, the reason it is available at any pharmacy in the US... The one side effect of it is it might give you a higher libido lol, which isn't really a side effect at all..
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask... I'm sure none of you even know this existed so I felt I would share it with whoever is interested.. I can link you to some info on it as well..
Youre probably wondering if i've used it myself for hair loss. The answer is no, because I do not care about hair loss anymore.I have used it for other means, and since I dont lose my hair anymore I have no need for it in the regard to hair loss. I actually suffer from side effects of Propecia that never went away after quitting, but that's a sad story for a different day.
Obviously im not trying to sell anything because preg is available anywhere.. Just thought you ppl would be interested in it if you're not having any lucky with the big 3 (really 2)....
I think it would also benefit those who experience sexual sides while taking Propecia as well, because Propecia lowers cortisol production..
Anyways, you can respond on here or PM me..
Youmomyz, didnt mean to hijack your thread, but I felt this info would interest you.

the pain in the prostate is could very well be from Propecia.. A lot of ppl on the propeciahelp board have major prostate issues as well...
The back trouble as well... Let me ask you something, is it your lower back that is troubling you most?

I’m a 32 year old guy, and have been taking Propecia for, I think, a little over two years. After weighing the risks and benefits, I made the decision to go on it. For the first several months I was on the drug, I occasionally got mild testicular ache, but it eventually went away. After that, I had no real problems or side effects.
But now, for the past several weeks, the testicular ache seems to have come back. I’m not in excruciating pain by any means, and it doesn’t interfere with my daily life, but I am worried about it. I’m also noticing a dull ache in my prostate area, as well as in my lower back. I recently went to see my doctor for a routine physical, and told him about the symptoms I’d been having. I also told him I’d been on Propecia for several years.
The doctor told me I might have a prostate infection, but when he examined me, he said everything felt normal, and he couldn’t find anything wrong. The only thing he suggested was that I start wearing a jock strap for some kind of support. I’ve been trying it, and so far, it hasn’t really made much of a difference.
Anyway, I’m wondering if these symptoms could be side effects of Propecia, and if so, how alarmed should I be about them? Are they serious? It’s worrying me, because I don’t really know what it the problem is. I thought for certain the doctor would say it is a prostate infection, because the symptoms are so similar, yet it’s strange that he found everything to be normal. Of course, it probably goes without saying, I’m worried it could be something even more serious as well.
I also find it strange that I’ve been taking the drug, problem free for two years, and now all of a sudden, it seems to be acting up. The only thing I can think of that I’ve been doing different lately is that last month, I was going through a phase where I was worried about getting testicular cancer, and was checking myself excessively for lumps, sometimes three or more times a day (I ultimately didn’t find anything). During this time, I was pinching, poking and squeezing that area perhaps a little more than I should have, and maybe that somehow could’ve caused an inflammation in my prostate area. Pretty much the week after I stopped, I started noticing the symptoms I am currently having. I mentioned this to my doctor too, however he couldn’t give me a definite answer on whether or not this was a factor.
I don’t really know what to do. I would rather not stop taking Propecia, if I have any other option, but if it comes down to that, I’m afraid I might be forced to make a difficult decision.
Its more then likely the drug....try reducing the dosage to see if that helps.. If not then you have a decision to make....Either keep taking it or risk your sexual well being.. Im not saying you will lose your sexual ability if you continue taking it, but the dull numbness cant be good over a long period of time. I SUSPECT, and this of course is only suspicion of mine, that the dull aches is your nuts trying to make DHT.....Either way you have a decision to make though..... Don't let anyone tell you any different. I have superior knowledge out of anyone on this forum about what this drug can do and has done to me......

its hard to imagine people having such severe side effects when i myself experience none. its so odd.
Good for you..

I wouldnt care if my hair grew out blue as long as it grew...Idk why thats such a big deal. dyeing isnt a big pain....
-
It could be an indication of things to come, or it could fade over a month. You could try to go MWF and it might help, or take half a pill everyday instead...
-
I have talked to many doctors and they are telling me that I only need to take propecia every other day.
I am sure it still helps but is it completely effective?
I would rather take it every other day but if it is a little less effective it is not worth it. My crown needs all the help it can get.
I was alos told Rogaine 5% is fine to appy only once a day. Is this true?
Twice as week, probably not... Everyotherday, perhaps.

Has anyone seen reduce shedding and loss of hair? If you could settle for that instead of regrowth, i'd call that a positive...
-
so are you actually balding then?
-
I'm very glad to hear you have had improvement. Accutane + Propecia.. sheesh, thats a dangerous combo sir. Becareful, Accutane is already being sued for ruining peoples lives.. Propecia will be the next..
-
well like I said before.. Fin stresses out your adrenals.. with you being really stressed as it is doesn't help your situation at all, but of course your doctor is going to tell you that its all in your head and not the medication..
-
High levels of stress could do this. Propecia stresses out the adrenal gland. It's what got me into the trouble im in. My cortisol levels were in the gutter. Did he test cortisol? You would need to take a 24 hour saliva test to get an accurate result. Blood tests for one time period show nothing.

It could be a couple of different things.
1.) You're going through a shedding phase. A lot of people on this board have gone through them. You should also keep in mind that their have been people who have gone through these "phases" and the shedding simply didn't stop after a timely manner.
2.) You just dont respond well to Propecia. On some people, the drug just does not work.
3.) You might need a higher dose, but it's to early to tell. Let it go another month and see what happens.
-
The pain has stopped? I'm not really understanding what you said at all...
-
People on the propecia board have experienced the same things you're talking about, myself included, I wouldnt buy into the whole "it's all in your head nonsense." As I've stated here multiple times, of course some ppl are going to tell you that when they have a very positive experience from taking the drug, because they themselves see no problem with it.
A lot of ppl on that board experienced a "crash" after quitting the drug, and they had no major side effects while taking the drug. I myself did not, my sides simply never went away.
Do you have any prostate pain? I'm assuming that you've had prostate trouble because you are taking the 5mg tab?I've experience what you're talking about once in a while. I do not think its an infection, Ive taken anti-inflammatories and it did nothing. It'll probably not persist for long and will not be bothersome after time. I believe it's more of your nervous system being inflamed then prostate or infection. If you've had prostate trouble in the past then it MIGHT be something related to that.
What you want to do now is remain calm about the situation and not stress yourself out more, because that will make things worse. You have a couple of months before you should start to worry to about anything, so take the time now to relax and hit the gym. Its only been 2 weeks, sometimes it takes a month for people to start feeling better. Please keep me posted as to what your Uro. thinks, and if youre not feeling better in a few months then talk to me. Until then I'd recommend you stay away from PH.com.

Me to. It will be for best, better product then propecia. We are lost We all are going be bald!!
I wouldn't say that.. and that's not a good attitude..
-
It seems some of you are jumping the gun on this real early.
I'm a HUGE skeptic of this product, but I will comment and say that its going to take ppl to actually take the plunge to see if these products actually work, so those that do I commend you.
-
No problem. I've seen it to be the case with a lot of people on this forum, that the pain dissipates over time. As far as letting it go like that long term, I'm not sure that would be in your best interest.
-
um............... ok?
-
The short answer is, yes its very possible. Its the same as when I experienced side effects from 1mg and none from .25mg. If I were you i'd stop all together and wait for your hormones to stabilize. I think by you just cutting it back to 1mg you won't see any improvement. Once ALL the side effects you are experiencing have disappeared then you should start taking again.
I could be wrong about just cutting back on the dosage, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
