  1. Yes and again it just fuels peoples conceptions that hair transplants are bit of a joke. How awesome would it be to do a documentary on one of the top clinics featuring paitents results etc and there journeys. I guess you pay for what you get. Thannk goodness for this website and for people like Spex and Jontronic!!!

  2. Currently watching a programme on cosmetic surgery on channel 4 named bums, boobs and Botox. There are 2 guys having consultations for HT in a clinic in England. Having researched and gone through a transplant myself i cant help but thinking these guys are ill informed one of them asked the surgeon if the before and after photos he was being shown were done by him ( not the type of question you would ask your surgeon with a highly regarded reputation Hasson Wong , Feller etc etc. Not wanting to diss the UK but just think they appear behind the game thats all!! It is an absolute must to have been on this forum for 1 year plus doing your research etc before jumping in.

  3. You're definitely getting hassle free hair! Was wondering where you've been! Good to see early growth on you already

    Hey Dutch

Hope your well. Yeh growing good here. I think photos only tell part of the story as in reality the hair looks better in the flesh especially when its complimented with your sense of style etc. Have you got a date yet for yours?

  4. Just to echo what the other guys are saying that at this stage it is unlikely you are seeing any new hairs popping through so your hairline now will be totally different to what it will look like in another 9 months. It's a tough waiting game but you are over the worst of it now and can look forward to month on month improvements.

I believe we will be meeting in London on Sunday, look forward to seeing you then

Yes i look forward to meeting you guys. Sometimes a little reassurance does the job, i guess when you see some of your hair growing in and there are still patches with nothing it seems alarming, but this experience is no ordinary experience!!

  5. Hi pal you have the same pattern of loss as me, Dr hasson did me 5300 grafts but he filled my crown as well. I'm a little behind you at 6 weeks post surgery but i do not see any grafts poking through my scalp yet i'm sure what you're seeing is the same as me it's just your existing hair starting to regrow the ht grafts shouldn't really have started yet anyway i'd say at around 4 months your grafts will start to grow.

Basically in a nut shell what you're seeing is just your pre surgery hair that's why it looks uneven and thin in places more than others.

    Have you been using minoxidil?

Has your scar shockloss gone yet?

Hey thanks for your reply. Yeh i hope this is the case. No i haven't been using any rogaine don't really want to start using that as from what i know you have to pretty much use it continuously and i really just want to be able to wash my hair and not have to worry about concealers , rogaine etc etc. 4505 grafts into my hair will hopefully provide enough coverage!! The shock loss is improving as the weeks go by.Hope your healing well.

  6. Hey guys have updated my blog ( 2 months 16 days post op) It would not allow me to upload more than 2 pictures for some reason so will have to email moderators. Things look to have omproved alot from 1 month post op feed back is appreciated guys as its a lonely journey so its always good to hear what you guys think etc will try sort out more pics..

  7. Yes but if you have hair typically with 1s or 2s grafts it's usually because your hair is quite corse and each hair strand is quite thick.

    Hey,

I didnt know this which is quite good news for me as my grafts were mostly 1s & 2s with only few hundred as 3 or 4s i think cos my hair on top was really thin i ddint excpect Dr Hasson to tell me that my donor hair was above average, and when i see other peoples profiles who have alot of 3s and 4s i kinda thought this meant they had thicker hair

  8. But UKPatient, if the clicker said 3700 grafts & they doubled some of the single hairs up, why would you be expected to pay for 4505 grafts??

It's 3700 'natural' grafts you're meant to be paying for. A surgeon can't extract 3700, double some of them up & tell you it's now 4500 grafts, pay up please!

How is that fair? Maybe someone can shed some light on this. It's not right at all. If you had a 3 hair graft extracted for example and then it was split into 3 singular hairs, they can't count that as 3 grafts!

Perhaps i never explained clearly regarding the above. So i had 4505 grafts extracted breakdown of which were: Singles : 1747

    Doubles: 2525

    3/4: 232

So a total of 4505 grafts removed. Dr Hasson made 3700 incisions and used some made some of my singles into doubles which will add to density. To be honest i dont know why this was done this way as it wasnt something that was discussed prior to HT. From my memory i remeber Dr Hasson telling me that the had counted more grafts than excpected but it was too late to alter hairline design and going further back wasnt discussed at that time i wasnt really 100% with it and my way if thinking is Dr knows best. Not sure why they couldnt have went a bit further back ( as i still have diffuse thinning towards crown which was untouched perhaps Joe could comment on this. I havent come across any cases like this??

  9. I understand that people watching will be given a false Sence of security regarding outcomes of HT's however when I first thought about my HT before I knew any information I too thought i would spend a few thousand pounds have a full head of hair overnight etc, as we all know research is the key so anyone watching the Jason gardener story will hopefully google his doctor and eventually discover this forum just as all of us on here found this forum by researching and then this way they can find out all the facts. Also alot of people still wear concealer after an HT and Jason did say he was going for second pass it is television after all and almost all television personalities do not divuldge their tricks of looking good. Also there are pictures online from his post op where you can get a better idea of what his result are like. . If anyone was to see 1 advert and go ahead with an Ht based on this without proper research then this would spell disaster depending on the doctor so after his apperance on tv i am sure it will spurn people on to research. Surely his coming out over his HT is a step in the right direction. I knew that when i wore concealer i was in no way comfortable telling anyone about it not even my partner.

  10. Biscuit,

Thank you for sharing that image; very interesting and informative!

Yes guess it is a question of trust. I counted on the clicker provided by Dr Hasson 37 x 100 = 3700. I was a bit confused afterwards as there were 4505 grafts extracted. I was told that alot of my 1 hair grafts were doubled up and used as 2's anyone else had this technique?? dont think i have came across it before??

  11. The more I think about this the more irritated I get. Don't get me wrong, I think the result looks quite good and more importantly Jason deserves credit for coming out so publicly like this. It can only shed a more positive light on this field when celebrities like Jason come out and discuss it openly from beginning to end. I wish more celebrities would come forward.

However, make no mistake, this was a planned PR opportunity from the start and while it is actually a good thing in general the overall final presentation is misleading and in fact dangerous.

Jason is wearing tons of concealer in the "This Morning" interview. I agree 100% with Spex that there is no way, none, nada, zilch, that 3501 grafts will give a NW6 this much coverage much less density. The danger in presenting this "remarkable" result is that anyone that sees this, and trust me, there are a lot of people that have seen this, will think that if they have aggressive hair loss then 3500 grafts should take care of them in one go.

The sad reality is that as most experienced members and patients know, closer to double this amount will give a NW6 anything resembling acceptable coverage but even 7000 grafts will not give this kind of density (mainly the crown) as it appears in the video that the density is near native (100%).

This is not a slam against Jason Gardiner. Again, I think it was very commendable for him to come forward. I could see it in his eyes that he was very forthcoming about how his hair loss affected him and how the hat he has worn over the 8 months of recovery became a psychological crutch. I've been there myself so I know how it feels and to be honest, I don't think he realizes the misrepresentation that he is providing by using concealer in an interview solely about his new hair. Regardless of whether or not HE realizes it, others do and the presentation of his hair transplant result as being ONLY from a surgical treatment will lead other uninformed television viewers to think that they too can get 3500 grafts on their NW6 hair loss patterned heads and get full density and full coverage.

Yes agreed regarding the concealer aspect of this is misleading to those not in the know however it is a step in the right direction as the majority of men not in the know perhaps think that all the laser combs and miraculous lotions and potions that are advertised in the uk press which can also be costly were there only options so at least it puts HT's out there. Also his transplant was being promoted at costing $35,000 so if men watching it are prepared to spend that amount then when they do there research they will find out more facts etc.

  12. I would go as far as to say i would bet my house that Jason was wearing a TON of concealer. There is NO way a NW 6 can get that coverage with 3500 session. Regardless he looked caked in it in my opinion, hairline all brushed forward and his hair had no texture.

It will not be long before a pap gets a pic of what his hair actually looks like when not set up for TV.;) Mark my words - as he will be on their radar now.

The Dr who did it is associated with the Hospital Group here in the UK.

yes agreed that it did look kinda chalky with dark concealer, however it was great exposure for uk TV to actually have a real life transplant patient witch told it how it was instead of all the misinformed rubbish that journalist write etc etc

  13. hi guys,so i had my first ht with dr wong im not un happy with the ht it just never really filled out as much as id hoped,so i started using dermmatch which works well but i dont think its a long term solution as im travelling around and some times end up not being able to wash it out for days plus when i had a girlfriend i made excuses so she didnt stay over because i wanted to wash it out that night and put it on in the morning..iv put the pictures up on my pages..im thinking of having a second ht with dr wong so just wondering what you guys think would be my best options thanks

Do you have any other pictures which document your progress???

  14. Hello my brethen,

Posted 9 month 6 days and 10 month 2 weeks updates on my blog. After all this time I've yet to master the art of transfer from blog to thread! Apologies, for any incovenience this might cause.

Continue to be pleased with ongoing transformation. Crown remains thin, on the plus side hair is in there, albeit short and wispy. It amazes me that I am seemingly complaining about this situation, I'm not. It is just a measure of how far I have progressed - could it be a case of the fabled hair greed! The perspective is a Norwood 5A, 60 years old and 3739 graphs. It'd be like saying Moses parting the sea was a minor irrigation issue!

Let the good times roll - for all of us.

Be pleased to answer any questions.

    Best wishes.

    Bill

Congratulations it looks really fantastic very happy for you!! I am almost 2 months post op and am BORED BORED BORED of waiting

  15. Read an article where Jason Gardener ( uk tv presenter) discusses his transplant. It states he had 3501 grafts via strip in july last year and that he didn't see his growth until january of this year. It looks pretty good on him. His doctor was Dr Craig Ziering at Ziering Medical never heard of this doc??

Jason will be discussing his transplant on uk tv show "this morning" tomorrow morning.

  16. Yes I'm still in Canada but I'll put up soon when I'm back to Leeds. I have strange hair before ht so I'll show you hd before pics, before wet pics with normal camera and dry with normal camera all taken the same last week and the difference is astonishing just because of camera quality and styling. Hasson and Wong have before pictures and op day pictures so I'm sure jo will put them up for me later.

    Look forward to seeing them.
