  1. Completely bald pretty much

You are limited in the donor area as the sides of your head has hair loss. Maybe the doctor would make an exception and FUE from the top of the scalp. That is only If you have not seen any hair loss on the top of the scalp and do not expect future hair loss there. You should consult a HT doctor to see what they can do for you. But usually the hair loss is on top of the scalp and the sides/back full of hair so your case is more rare I think.

  2. Not a whole lot to report as its only about 2 months post op. Just trying to forget about it as much as possible and hoping time goes by as quick as possible. Photos are 1 month and 2 months post op.

Thanks for the update. It is looking good for 2 months. How are you feeling about your HT so far?

  3. I never like risking grafts at all. I find mega sessions pretty gambling. Get 2800 grafts and wait for the one year yield and then go for another. Follow the Jotronic approach, its the best.

But would you.. FUT 2800, go back for another FUT and then another.. until there is no more laxity/donor. Then FUE the rest of the scalp to max out full potential of donor?

Because if I remember correctly, With FUE only, you'll have less donor than doing the above.

  4. Its healing up pretty nicely. I'm at 1 month post op and I'm going to take more pics, so I'll take pics of the donor area as well. I have a little shock loss but not too bad. I was really impressed with how little tension there was on the strip closure. With my first procedure there was a lot of tension on the closure from day 1 and a lot of pain, however this round there was almost zero tension in the donor and very little pain.

I did however opt to have Dr. Rahal take as much hair as possible as apposed to extracting all of my first scar, so there is still portions of my first scar. I did this because I have had a lot of surgeries and my scars always heal almost to the point of disappearing and my main goal was to get the most hair as possible. I have also accepted that I will probably want to opt for another procedure in the future at which point I will have all the scars excised. I am rather curious to see how the coverage will be though, I could previously cut my donor hair down to #3 guard with no signs of my scar so we will see how it turns out.

Any updates pics? Would like to see. thank you

  5. Top 5 reasons why people reject the idea of hair transplants:

    1. They look almost as fake as a bad toupee

    2. They don’t fill in the bald spots evenly or completely

    3. The surgery is painful

    4. Recovery time is too long

    5. The surgery leaves unsightly scars

We agree that conventional hair transplants often leave a lot to be desired. Traditional hair transplants are based on extracting hair follicles along a thin strip.

Follicles are individually separated under a microscope with no (or very little) transection of the hair follicles.

Most of this can be avoided if you go to the right doctor.

  6. Hey Hairz,

I believe there are 3 pics already posted. Like I said, I've visited all of the top docs or spoken with all the top ones in the country and they all say my previous work wasn't all that bad and it makes some people uncertain if would want to take me on as a client due to how I complain about my previous procedure. I have been told that yes my previous procedure isn't the best but its not bad and sometimes things won't be perfect since its man made work and not native.

I don't know where you stand with your hairloss and I do believe if you go to a top doc for your first time you can be satisfied. As for myself, my hairloss is not stabilized and my hair quality is very fine/thin. And as I've stated I'm very active and sweat all the time. Doctors all tell me they can definitely improve my look and fix me up, but I'm not looking to just improve. I want to know will I have a full natural result in the end... Or if all my native hair falls out on top am I going to be stuck with a very see through gappy appearance that looks like 'wire' all over my head when sweating. And my donor hair seems quite more thin as well. The only way I will do additional procedures at this point is if I can fill in my areas and buzz my head down and look natural in that form. Otherwise I rather just forget about the depression of hairloss and shave it all and get back into things I truly enjoy doing again since like many I don't participate in water activities, get caught in the rain, or those types of things cause I'm too preoccupied with my hair.... Which is ridiculous

I've seen your pictures now. I can see what you are talking about.

How many grafts did you get? What about the grafts per sq/cm? To me it looks like they did't use one hair grafts in some areas. Are you sure they did?

Please see the attached photo and tell me if this looks like your hair as it is hard to see in your pictures for sure. If it is like the before photos then it was done wrong.

I've seen Dr. Rahal's work in person and could not see a single detection of HT and it looked native. With that said, if you have some grafts in the bank, I would talk to him and see what he has to say.

  7. For me your hair is still too good to get a HT, especially since you are only 27 and more loss is on the cards.

If I were you I'd add Rogaine to the regime and wait until you are 30+. Mid thirties is a much better time to get something done rather than trying to get the 'perfect hairline' in your 20s.

Those 2000-3000 grafts saved now could be much better used in several years time.

Just beware than once you work on the hairline you're pretty much stuck with it for life, and what's behind it could rapidly disappear!

I agree with the above poster. Just think if you filled in the sides and then the center started to thin out. Then you would be unhappy because the sides are thick and nice but the center is thin/balding. Do you want to chase after your hair loss like this? Something for you to think about.

  8. hairz-

This is what I had done. I spoke to the local HT doctor here in Chicago--Dr. Konior--about going to his office to have my sutures removed. He accepted, removed them plus I had a chance to speak with him at length and he got to see Rahal's work.

Any nurse or personal doctor in your area will be able to easily remove your sutures if you do not want to do what I did.

Trust me, you are going to want to be home for those 14-days. You will go stir crazy in an unknown town needing to wear a surgical cap to go out. Healing in a familiar environment or holing up in your own place is much more comfortable.

Go home, take the surgical cap off, heal up, and have a nurse remove the sutures. Easy enough as that is a basic skill of theirs.

Wish I would of thought of this sooner (going to a local HT doctor) it may be to late. :(
