  1. Who was your surgeon Albundy?

That is a very poor scar.

I want to give it one more month before giving out any names. Some of the post I have read from the past in this forum, showed that shockloss (if it is which I doubt it) could last as long as 3 1/2 month. I don't want to ruin anybodies reputation, before I know for the fact that he has messed up. When you have had two surgeries done within 1 1/2 year, then you can easily compare your procedure and results with each other. I can tell you this that right after my last surgery, in the first two weeks I had a good feeling that my results are not gonna be as good as my first procedure, both in doner and recipient area.

  2. albundy,

Do you have any pics by chance? I have heard of shockloss around the sutures before and can happen up to 4-6 weeks or so post-op.

Did you have any shockloss in the donor area in your first procedure?

I didn't have any shockloss in the donor area after my first surgery. As mentioned I could shaved down to #4 and my scar would not show at all. Here are some pictures I took today, 50 days past second surgery. :(

  3. I had my second surgery recently, it has been around 45 days. My scar have completely healed but it looks horrible. It is close to 1/2 inch wide (1 cm), above my ears and on left side looks A LOT worst than the right side. Right from the beginning I felt that the scar did not look right. I told the Dr when I went to remove my sutures, he told me that hair will grow around and even inside the suture area. Is he BSing? after my first surgery I could cut my hair to #4 and my scar would not show at all. What should I do ?

  4. I had my second hair transplant exactly 4 weeks ago. I did some research about Biotin, and my understanding is that all it does is speeding up the growth of hair (life cycle of the hair?), am I correct?

After my first surgery it tool about 4-5 month before I could see the implanted hair growing out, so My question is

    1) will the Implanted hair grow out faster, for instance after 3 month maybe, if I take Biotin? is there a research or personal experience out there?

    2) Is there anything negative (side effects) about taking Biotin Post surgery?

    3) My scar on the left side of my head shows Badly ( I shaved my entire head down to #3 two weeks post up), I want my hair to grow faster to cover the scar area, is this a good Idea?

  5. I have always wondered, How do you know the number of grafts they are telling you that they have transferred are the true correct number? You just have to trust your DR?

I specially became suspicious, since I just recently went for two different consults same day (it was with the Doctors themselves in their office), one of the surgeons said that he could probably get 3000-4000 graft from my donor area (I already had a surgery using 4200 a year ago), the second one said, I don't see it being possible to get more than 2000 grafts, and that was the maximum. He said it was impossible mathematically to reach anywhere close to 3000-4000.

  6. Iv been using Rogain foam in the mornings when I go to work, simply because the liquid forms takes for ever to dry, while the foam dries in 5 minutes.

At night when I get home I use Kirkland which is the liquid form of minoxidol5%.... The main reason I use the liquid form is simply becuse it is alot cheaper than the foam but also I feel it covers all areas of my scalp better than foam.

My brother was telling me that there is Alcohol in the liquid form of minoxidol 5% and its not good for hair.

    So my questions are

    1) since both foam and liquid have the same active ingredience is one better than the other or are the both exactly the same.

    2) would there be any problems combining the foam and liquid the way I do? morning foam and nights liquid.

  7. I heard from someone that you are not supposed to use anti dandruff Shamppoo after HT. I'm not talking about imediatly after HT; Im talking about 1 month after HT. IS this true or is he BSing?

I don't really have dandruf, but Im thinking about using Costco's (Kirkland) minoxidol 5%, and by experience I know that it will give me severe itchng and some dandruff... Any advise/suggestions?

  8. 1) will Everybody have a shock loss after HT procedure, or some do and some don't?

    2) Will all Transplanted hair fall off within the first 3 month or again some people will lose most of it, some people will lose some and some people none at all?

    3) If the answer to question 1 and 2 is "YES", approximately how many weeks after surgery would you say majority of the transplanted hair would have fallen off?

  9. I've been seeing different doctors and gone to consultations, Ive narrowed it down to a couple of doctors.... I honestly dont know which one to go with, I know either of the 2 will do good.

The primary reasons I went to consultations was to see what the doctors could do for me and which approach they were going to take. Even though they went through pricing I never got into it since it did not really matter, I just wanted to find the best doctor for me.....

Now when Im down to 2-3 of them, I want to let the price finalize it for me...

My last and final question is

    1) Are the prices presented first at consultations fixed (Set), or are they negotiable? Or would that be considered rude....

SO for example if Dr x charges 12000 for 3000 graft and Dr Z Charges 11300, could I asked DR X if he can beat or match Dr Z's price or is it more like take it or leave it the price that you have been told at the time of consult???

  10. Hi,

Dr Feller is regarded as one of the very best at both Strip and FUE. His costs are on par with all other leading surgeons.

See a variety of his results here and the kudos received from his patients regarding his abilities with a variety of different cases, sizes, techniques and patients.

    http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/137508-dr-feller-patient-topic-recent-pics-write-ups.html

My recommendation is meet him for a 1:1 consultation or if not possible feel free to email me directly in order to help you obtain his opinion directly.

    My email : support@spexhair.com

    Best

    Spex

So If I live in california I have to go to him once just for consult and then a secound time for surgery. Is that possible to do the consult online, by picture or video?

  11. First thanks for all the responses that I got in my previous thread

I'm as new to this HT thing as you can get, slowly but surely Im reasearching and alrady Ive learned alot. Ive been learning about FUE VS FUT and the main defferences. About which doctors are considered the top surgeons in the field....

It seems that pretty much everybody considers Dr feller to be the best or atleast top 3 when it comes to FUE..... Now my questions is

    1) Would you consider him as one of the top choices (as reputable) when it comes to FUT????? If NOT who do you consider top choices in north America when It comes down to FUT?

    2) I looked at his website, the cost for HT, it seems that it runs around 4.5-5 dollar per graft for FUT and around 10 dollar per graft for FUE. Dos that sound about right. Is there really such a huge difference in terms of price (twice as much) for all surgeons, when comparing FUT vs FUE?

    Hair Transplant Costs and Financing

3)THIS MEANS ALOT TO ME.... SO PLEASE give me your best advise

I would say my pattern of hair loss is considered to be Norwood Type IV/V.

What bothers me the most is the RESEEDING and THINNNG of the FRONT hair LINE, the thinning in the back of my head does not bother me as much. Would you say cirtai Dr's are better at rstoring cirtain type of Hair loos than others, in my case Norwood type IV/V. Also who would make the most NATURAL looking front hair line. I want to primarily bring the hair line down and thicken it as much as possible...

    5) Let us say my fate is to become a NORWOOD TYPE VII eventually at the age of 40 or 50, Im 32 now. Wouldnt it look retarded if I restore my front and back of my head right now, and later on end up loosing everything else around it, and I wont have any more doner site to repair and replace the hair loss.... I hope my question made sense....

    I really appreciate all Answers...

  12. Albundy, I live in CA and I am also searching for a Doctor. So far it appears to me that the real top notch doctors for HT are outside CA. doctors who regularly post exceelent results and in neighboring states are Dr Alexander and Dr Gabel. Personally I am impressed by Dr Gabel's work. Dr. Carman seems to be a good choice within CA. My opinions are biased on my level of balding and kind of work I am looking for. So you need to do your own reaserch.

Thank you for your response, Are you thinking about doing FUE or FUT?

Where is Dr Gabel located at?

  13. The information you have is basically right. The scar from a procedure, if done correctly by a recommended physician will leave a fine scar that could go from ear to ear. It is difficult to notice the scar unless you keep your hair very short, usually shorter than a #3 on a razor setting. Not all patients are good FUE candidates, some people have better quality hair that makes them better candidates for the treatment, and therefore better yield.A surgeon would recommend FUT over FUE due to the reason above, but in many cases if the patient requires a substantial amount of grafts it could be in their best interest to go the FUT route due to the higher survival rate of the grafts, and also due to the patients financial needs. FUT in general provides better overall results but if the scar is something that really bothers you and you plan on keeping your hair very short than you should consider FUE, but know that the results could yield less hair density.

Not all doctors perform FUE and FUT. FUE is less common in the industry, and some have technicians do the procedure as opposed to the surgeon. I would recommend doing a lot of research on those who practice FUE regularly and see their results.

Thank you for the Information, Something inside of me tells me, that If humans where able to reach moon, Do correction eye surgery, and so many other advances just the past 30-40 years, definitly they should be able to come up with a cure within the next 10 years.... There is so much money into that, so economicaly it makes sence..... Butofcourse I do not want to go around half bald the next ten years... So I want to have something that corrects my baldness right now untill something better comes around; and therefore Im thinking that maybe FUE would be a better answer since I can repair it easier later on, since it doesn't leave a permanent scar..... What do you think about that?

Now Do you know any doctor that is famous with getting good results doing FUE?
