  1. Which is what my whole point was. I chose a doctor that was was "recommended" by all the organizations that people look to ...to make their decision. Even though doctors are recommended by various organizations.... doesn't mean that they are ALL practicing in an ethical manner and have the patients best interest in mind. It simply means they put on a good "show" during test time. (Note added by administrator - the physician you listed on your public profile is not recommended by this community. Thus, the above statement isn't true. All recommendations by this community are taken very seriously and physicians who don't continue to meet our high standards are promptly removed. Please see a note from the managing publisher for a further explanation) Everyone needs to use common sense...hair transplant candidate selection is not rocket science....THERE ARE RISKS and any doctor that tells you that you are at low risk when you know you are not, just wants your money
  2. I NEVER said i dont see both sides of the spectrum, if you would read any of the posts leading up to this, I actually gave compliments to Drs Limmer, Harris, Cooley, Rassman, and Bernstein for what I have seen is an ethical practice and and their understanding and agreement with my situation. You are the one who keeps repeating yourself and not making any sense. I am summarizing again the intent of this post thread because it is people like you that continue to confuse my point and blow smoke in my VERY valid and REAL situation. I had 1 procedure. In that one procedure, I lost everything and had many many side effects because i was not evaluated and my risk factors were not taken into account. I was the worst candidate for a transplant before my procedure. NW2, fine but dense hair, straight hair, light soft texture in frontal, darker coarse in back, extensive miniaturization in front, very fair skin. If you look at the best candidates for transplants, they are the exact OPPOSITE of that. There are many other things that you do not know about my experience that I cannot share, so if you want to talk about your topic then start your own post, very easy to do.
  3. The whole point to this is that there are doctors out there who continue to hold credentials and they are breaking every rule in the book morally, ethically....and they basically have no responsibility if something goes wrong because you usually will sign a waiver. I am living proof of being a NW2 before the surgery and now a 3+ in just 2 years. Shock loss is real! Placing hair at the wrong angle is REAL! Pitting is Real! Cobblestoning is Real! Horrible looking scars is Real! Ingrown hairs, itchy scalp where the grafts are placed, pain in the donor area, scar tissue blocking blood supply to native hair...i have experience with all of these things just from 1 procedure
  4. Hair transplant scars are very distinct and obvious when seen. Bosley has been all over the TV since the 80s and celebrities like jeremy piven have been called out on the scar and been all over the news and web
  5. hair transplant kills miniaturized hair, period
  6. It is also important to note that surgery should always be your last resort after all attempts to stop the progression of your hair loss have been exhausted. If you are under the impression that having small surgeries to "keep up with your hair loss" is a practical way to address your hair loss issue you are sorely mistaken. Patients with a significant amount of hair on their scalps run the risk of "shock loss" of some or much of their existing hair caused by the trauma of the surgical procedure. In some cases this lost hair will not return and you could be left with thinner hair than before the procedure. This is just one reason why understating whether or not you are a good candidate for the procedure is so important. The best candidates for hair restoration surgery are: Men who have been losing their hair due to MPB for more than five years or who have progressed to a Norwood class 3 or above. Men with realistic expectations and who understand that their hair loss might continue to progress even if they are taking prescription medication to stop the progression. Men who have been balding for many years and who's pattern has stabilized and are interested in just adding some hair to provide a more youthful appearance. Men and women who have lost hair due to trauma or burns Men and women who have lost hair due to other cosmetic procedures such as face-lifts. (promotional link removed)
  7. Then how is it that it happened to me and many other people that have responded and messaged me privately on here. People like you are part of the reason why no one can get an accurate picture of how common major risks are. I have been through a lot in my life and what happened to me this this whole hair transplant thing would send the average person into major depression and self-isolation. You think I just want to sit around on a sunday night and make up false claims to post on some hair transplant website because I enjoy it? Get back to reality man. Do your research, I have been through this with the heads of all the major organizations in this industry as well as the top doctors and they all agree with EVERYTHING I have said. What are your credentials anyway?
  8. Look...this was based on my experience....hence the description of this section of the site "HAIR TRANSPLANT EXPERIENCES" I prefaced all of my points with "WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS" because these are things that DO happen and DID happen to me. I think you need to do some more research... read: (promotional link removed) Just like i told the other guy....if you are satisfied with your result then thats great, but don't pick apart the facts of what happened to me and try and confuse the issue for other people that deserve to know facts about what could happen. If you want to talk about yourself and how great your results were, then please write it somewhere else. THE FACTS ARE: IF YOU ARE A NW2-NW3 WITH A LOT OF EXISTING HAIR, THEN YOU RUN A VERY COMMON RISK OF SHOCK LOSS IF YOU ARE A NW2-NW3 WITH A LOT OF EXISTING MINIATURIZED HAIR THEN YOU INCREASE THAT RISK IF YOU ARE A NW2-NW3 WITH A LOT OF EXISTING MINIATURIZED HAIR AND HAVE BEEN TAKING PROPECIA AND HAVE BEEN SEEING NEW GAIN, NOT ONLY COULD YOU LOSE HEALTHY AND MINIATURIZED HAIR, BUT YOU WILL MOST LIKELY LOSE THE GAINED HAIR AS WELL. YOU ONLY HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF BLOOD SUPPLY IN YOUR SCALP THAT FEED THE HAIR YOU HAVE, IF NEW HAIR IS PLACE IN A NEW AREA WITH DIMINISHED BLOOD SUPPLY, SOMETHING WILL SUFFER EVERY INCISION IN YOUR SKIN CREATES SCAR TISSUE COULD DECREAS CIRCULATION IN THAT AREA. CUT VEINS AND VESSELS CAN DECREASE CIRCULATION AS WELL. CUTTING A CHUNK OUR OF YOUR SCALP AND SEWING IT BACK TOGETHER TIGHTER COULD DO THE SAME THING. SUMMARY: THESE ARE WELL KNOWN ISSUES. IF SOMEONE GOES TO A DOCTOR AND PRESENTS THEMSELVES AS A NW2-3 WITH A LOT OF HAIR, AND A GREAT DEAL OF MINIATURIZATION, AND THE DOCTOR DOES SAYS THAT THEY ARE A LOW RISK, FOR COMPLICATIONS, THEN THEY ARE LYING TO YOUR FACE.
  9. By the way, please do not confuse the issue of my thread just because you are satisfied with your results...im happy for you, great....this thread was made to warn people...there are many other posts that you can cut and paste your pitch to, thanks
  10. Your pre-surgery state was far worse than mine. Again, I was a NW2 with slight temple thinning, you looked like a NW3+. I am not blaming the procedure in general, if you are bald or balding, and you are aware and fine with the LIMITATIONS of what a hair transplant can offer, then by all means go for it. A HAIR TRANSPLANT IS NOT MEANT FOR SOMEONE WITH A RECEDING HAIRLINE with otherwise, thick healthy hair, and any doctor that says that it will THAT THEY CAN IMPROVE YOUR SITUATION WITH MINIMAL RISK is not being honest. Hairlines recede due to miniaturization, and if you have an actively receding hairline, that means you have active miniaturization and all the hairs that plan on falling out in the next 10 years will be lost. This procedure advanced my hair loss by 10 to 20 years so I have the same amount of hair now as I was supposed to at almost 60 years old...and probably less because it made the hair I was keeping with propecia to fall out as well.....AND the grafts that were placed DID NOT GROW. AND the strip cut out of the back of my head depleted blood supply and made the back of my hair thinner therefore not allowing me to cut my hair as short as the doctor said I would be able to and not allowing me to get another procedure. So there you have it....one day.....my physical appearance and confidence shattered.
  11. most people who are happy with their result had very unhealthy and very thin hair (if not bald ) to begin with. These are the only people who should even be considered for a transplant. If you can style your hair whatsoever and are the least bit happy with it, DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE. This industry make the procedure sound sooo easy and non-intrusive. This is one of the worst things you can do to a healthy scalp and healthy hair. Just think about it.....you are cutting a massive chunk out of the intricate blood flow of your head....if you have ever seen the "BODIES" exhibit that show all of the veins, capillaries, and arteries below the scalp surface, you will think twice about all of the damage cutting these does. You are butchering your skin and it might not seem like a big deal at the time because you THINK you will have all this new hair to cover it up, but when you lose more hair, your hair becomes thinner when you are 60, 70 years old, its not so undetectable anymore..and forget about shaving it down, because it WILL BE OBVIOUS. Its 2011 people, no one wants a hairstyle like on all those 80s shows where people are at the roller discos with butterfly collars, gold chains, and hairy chests. If you are young and are the least bit stylish and in shape/active, then dont put yourself in a situation where you are basically F**cked in looking like a freak the rest of your life with rats nest thin hair that you cannot style. The thickness of the hair shaft in the back of your head is not meant to be stuck on the front of your head (if you have a receding hairline), it just plain looks stupid, I know from experience. Im not going to post pictures because i am sick of all of this, it has ruined my life...so if you want to take my word for it, good, if not, then thats fine. I am just trying to help. Its all how you perceive it....if you got a hair transplant and the doctor was up front with you about expectations, then great, but there ARE doctors out there still practicing and certified by the TOP organizations in this industry that have and continue to break every rule in the book by their standards and common ethics. That being said there are some doctors that genuinely care without any ulterior motives. Thank you Dr. Brad Limmer, Dr. Rassman, Dr. Harris, Dr. Cooley, and Dr. Straub. These guys are straight up and really do care.
  12. the doctor's name is not important in this forum at this point, will cause me more problems than it is worth to post that information...i am talking other actions that will prove to be much more effective
  13. Some things my doctor didnt tell me. This may not apply to all doctors, i only have one experience with 1 person, but it was the worst thing i have done in my life. If you currently have hair and are actively losing it, a hair transplant is the WORST decision you can make. There is no way that a doctor can transplant into existing miniaturized hair and not damage the your natural hair. The incision sites damage and scar the scalp. Scar tissue forms beneath the scalp surface causing blockage of blood flow not allowing the proper flow to existing follicles. What happens then...any existing hair you have left can become unhealthy and malnourished....or just fall out like mine did exposing the transplanted grafts thats were randomly placed Lets just use common sense and ask a few questions: 1. If you have been on propecia for many years and it was helping to hold on to the weaker hair, does it make sense to expose your scalp to MAJOR trauma of a surgery and lose all of that retention or gain? NO, IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. 2. A major cause of hair loss is reduced blood supply to the hair. Does it make sense to cut a huge slice out of your head near major arteries, severing veins and nerves? NO IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. 3. I had a slight receding hairline. Hairlines recede when hairs become miniaturized and eventually the diameter at the shaft becomes so fine its falls out. So HOW could it look natural when you cut out hair follicles in the back of your head where the hair shaft is the largest in the entire scalp, and transplant them in to an area that they are the smallest? IT DOESN'T What happens when: 1. You are laying in bed and your girlfriend is rubbing that back of your head and says, how did you get this scar from ear to ear? You either have to tell her you had a hair transplant or say you were in a serious accident. If you opt to lie then you have to have to worry about her bringing up that lie to your close friends and family members who know better. If she has half a brain , she is going to figure it out. Hair transplant scars are very unique. Even if she is a little suspect, she can look it up on the internet and become an expert in 15 minutes. She will then probably be suspicious and really examine the rest of your head and see the transplanted hairs since 100% of them are NOT totally undetectable. Even if a cluster of 5 or 6 hairs are noticeable out of 2000, it IS a dead giveaway. Doctors say it is "virtually" undetectable to the "un-trained" eye. So what does it take to have a trained eye. NOTHING, just know what to look for....its not rocket science. 2. You have been in the water and your hair dries and looks like a rats nest. Here is my life now: 1. I cant go anywhere without hair spraying my hair in a specific way so the transplanted hair doesn't look out of place. 2. When I wake up in the morning the front of my hair looks like I haven't combed my hair in a week. Even with very short hair. 3. I have to worry about being in fluorescent lighting or harsh lighting because the grafts are so thick and dark growing out of my scalp, it totally contrasts with my fair skin. 3. Due to decreased blood flow by the strip cut out and the recipient sites made, the remainder of my natural hair is wilted and wiry, it looks like I am sick.
  14. Does anyone know of a very good malpractice lawyer that I can speak with regarding a very bad situation with an ex member doctor of this site and a current member of the IAHRS? He needs to be held accountable
