  1. I googled this and at first it just came up with a number of oncology studies, however after probing a bit I was surprised to find many references to minoxidil. Maybe I'm missing something here but are you saying that simply using minoxidil in the scar tissue will help stimulate growth in that area?

  13. I was curious about the same thing. I wear my hair relatively short and my hair is fine so FUE in the scar is definitely somehting I want to explore as well.
  14. Thanks guys...sorry for the picture quality. No blood at all but it looks like dead skin but with hairs embedded in...almost liken it to a graft but with no blood and dead scabby skin surrounding the hair (or hairs) in some cases. Did you guys experience the same things about 8 days +?
  15. Sorry if this grosses anyone out but just curious...I've been shedding these things for the last 3 days (since around day 6 or 7). I'm now about 10 days out but just curious if this is how it would look. Hope to see these grow back.
  16. Thanks for the reply fellas. I didn't have staples just sultures but I am going to wait at least another week before adding anything to it. Also thanks for the suggestion. Do you guys know of any creams that have been used with success if helping the healing. I had an operation a few years back and my surgeon recommended maderma but not sure if that would apply to an incision in the back of the head. Thanks.
  17. Hi all....after many years of lurking I finally took the plunge. I am happy with the progress so far but I had a couple of questions about the incision. First me and my wife have noticed a lump on one of the the incision set. Its not too painful but does have a bit of tenderness when I touch it. It feels like a scab to the touch but is regular skin according to my wife. Is it common to have a bump like this at an end of an incision? NOTE I didn't have staples...only sultures. Second question, anyone have good results with using stuff like Maderma or other scar healing ointments? Last question, when can i apply my concealer to the scar? I would like to go get my haircut before going back to work but I am a little bit concerned that my barber will ask a million questions upon seeing the scar so I figured I use concealer. He never shampoos and usually just goes over my hair with a 3 (I'm going to ask him to use a 4 this time). Thanks for the time in reading this post and sharing your experiences. 18. Thanks for the responses guys. I will post some before and after pics. I am going with Dr. Keene as I have seen some good results and feedback about her work.
  19. I have been doing some scalp exercises...maybe only about 2mins/day of rubbing and stretching the area. I'll note the vitamin E and ask my doctor about it if she doesn't mention it. I've been taking fin for the last few years and will continue to take it. I believe my doctor said to stop for a couple of weeks after surgery...I'll have to confirm that.
  20. Thanks for the reply. I wonder is something containing retinol (ie. revitol) would be helpful in healing the scar. The only thing is that it might be tricky to apply under the hair. Isn't there also something a doctor created that contains rogain and a few other things for post op?
  21. Hi all...long time lurker first time poster. After years of contemplation I am finally going to get it done next week. I am going to Dr. Keene for an FUT procedure that will invollve about 1800. Does anyone have any recommendations on what things to do that will help me: 1) maximize growth (what can i do to give each and everyone one of those grafts a chance?) 2) minimize scarring (is there something i can take to heal up the scaring quickly?) Thanks in advance for your help. S
  22. thanks for the link to the pics....i guess if I go with the strip method I probably won't be able to wear my hair short. my strategy is going to go with FUE first and then maybe go strip method down the road....just not sure if I want to have a scar the rest of my life.
  23. Hi all...long time lurker first time poster. I've been doing a ton of research and have read a number of posts on this board discussing the pro's and con's of FUE vs strip. I went to see Dr. Keene here in Tucson and she mentioned the tricho enclosure. Does anyone have any pics of this type of method vs normal methods? Does this method allow one to cut their hair relatively short (say a 2 blade?) Thank you in advance!
