  3. This Vancouver area patient in his mid-30’s came to the clinic to address his receded hairline and thinning frontal zone. Dr. Hasson and team used 2575 grafts extracted via FUE to restore the area and achieve the desired result. 302 were single hair grafts, 2017 were doubles and 256 were 3-4 hair grafts. These photos were taken just shy of 1 year post-op. *At the time of his procedure we were experimenting with a white background, we have since gone back to blue. Apologies for the difference.
  4. As anticipated, Dr. Wong’s return to Europe has garnered a lot of interest. With a few short weeks left, Milan is fully booked and there are few spots left for Rome and London. Get in touch with us soon if you’d like to reserve your complimentary personalized evaluation by Dr. Wong before the spots are all gone.
  5. Thanks for the comments guys. Literalno, I agree it is impressive. The hair shaft caliber is above average. Assuming 50 microns is average, I would guess 80 microns, maybe more for this patient? As far as Joe Tillman. Joe has much finer hair (likely less than 50 microns), a more advanced hair loss pattern and therefore more area to cover. As I have eluded to before, one of this patient’s hairs might equal 2-3 hairs from a patient like Joe which can help explain the difference in result. Basically, to equal 7902 grafts with this type of hair, Joe might need 15,000 or maybe 20,000 grafts and may still not achieve this density and coverage. Very few have 15,000 grafts in the bank. Coarse hair can make up for deficiencies in other areas. This patient has the best of both worlds, high donor density, and large hair shaft diameter. Amazing things can be achieved with the right doc if he’s given these donor hair characteristics. But as I’ve said before, the best raw materials mean very little without the right surgeon and team to take advantage of them. You’re right garethbale ? Bless up, I don’t think the original placement shot posted shows as much of the crown. If you look at the tip down shot I posted on Feb 6, 2017, you’ll see more of the crown and notice the thinning area is fairly substantial. See below for a better shot of that area taken 4 days post-op. Probably 3,000 or more grafts alone for that area. So if you couple, that with a high-density hairline and frontal zone along with the mid-scalp, it seems more reasonable. Usually, a frontal zone and mid-scalp restoration takes at least 4,000 grafts. In this case, if we plan for something in the 6,000 graft range and get closer to 7,500 – 8,000, the extra grafts will usually be used in parts of the mid-scalp and crown as the density up front is more of a fixed proposition and satisfied with the first 4,000 or so grafts.
  6. As I mentioned some time ago, when I run across a previous post from a few years back with broken links, I will try and repost the pics. Here is such a case that I'm re-presenting. This patient came to Vancouver from Israel to have a procedure following in the footsteps of his son who had previously undergone a successful procedure with Dr. Wong a few years earlier. Dr. Wong and team transplanted 5496 Grafts in one session via FUT. 1562 were single hair grafts, 3317 were double and 617 were 3-4 hair grafts. The goal was to reconstruct the hairline, frontal zone and mid-scalp working back as far as possible. With a sufficient yield, some crown coverage would be possible and in this case, it was achieved. The result shown is only 7.5 months post-op. This patient is very happy and a strong advocate for the clinic. If you are in Israel and considering a hair transplant procedure with Hasson and Wong and would like to speak with this patient about his experience, get in touch with me and we'll connect you.
  7. hdude46, Like I said, every case is different. They may or may not advise stopping it depending on the situation. I've never seen them advise something that may lead to "big trouble" but rather advise something that would avoid it ?
  8. jj51702, Yes, I believe he has been on the standard dose. hdude46 / andy_+_+, If you ask us, there is no simple answer as to whether or not someone should use minoxidil. As previously stated, the doctors are not big fans of it primarily due to its effect on the tissue. More bleeding and difficulty while making incisions has the most to do with their less than favorable view. If not for performing procedures on patients who use it, they would likely have a more neutral stance. Over the years they felt Finasteride was a more effective tool in preserving hair and with these negatives in their opinion associated with minox, they would advise some patients stop it. However, if some patients could not take Fin and/or were getting favorable results with minox, they would say keep using it but stop in 4 weeks or more before a procedure and resume after. If a patient was projected to only lose the front and we were going to restore the front through a procedure, they would advise that there was probably no great benefit to using it. If you have been using it for years with success, you can continue using it but without knowing the exact situation, it is hard to give a recommendation. For some it would irritate the skin, for others, the tissue would look fine. Some may be more sensitive to it than others. So as mentioned, no simple answer. Each case is different and ultimately the choice is up to the individual. I personally have never used it and it is unlikely I would need or want to consider using it.
  9. Hi guys, thanks for the interest and comment! We reached out and the patient sent us this recent pic. He is to send more soon and we will update with those when we can.
  10. hdude46, The doctors have not been big fans of Rogaine over the years. While its impact can vary from patient to patient, for many who have used it we see some instability of the tissue. Without going into great detail, it can make the procedure more difficult and create some limitations. It has been shown to affect the collagen and some premature facial aging can also occur. In the end, Dr. Hasson would likely not feel the benefit is warranted versus the potential negative effects on the tissue in this case.
  11. Thanks for the nice comments guys! HairlossPA, Actually, no grafts placed in the crown but a few slightly behind the frontal zone. The majority in the hairline and frontal zone. densedream, I actually went back and compared how he aged as I thought he looked pretty good for 40? Wazaam, I would say both. Back in 05, Dr. Hasson had predicted a final hair loss pattern of a 3A. So little if any projected mid-scalp and crown thinning. Looking at him today I would say he was accurate. While not critical in his case, he was on Finasteride back in 05 and is taking it today. Melvin, As I mentioned regarding the 10-day post-op shot, we did not regularly take immediate post-op shots back in 05 and therefore don’t have graft placement pics. jj51702, He stopped Rogaine just before his procedure and we would have advised not to continue using it.

  15. Patient in his mid to late 20’s traveled from New York to see Dr. Hasson about his hairline and frontal zone loss. Good donor with hair shaft diameter on the finer side. Dr. Hasson and team transplanted 4260 grafts to restore the hairline, frontal zone and a small portion of the mid-scalp. 938 were single hair grafts, the remaining 3322 were 2, 3 and 4 hair grafts. We did not always document and break down the singles from the larger grafts back in 2005. Still looking good nearly 13 years later as he approaches 40 years old. Placement shot taken 10 days post-op, we did not usually take immediate post-op shots back in 05. While his scar was good, he wanted to improve it even more. 312 FUE grafts were recently placed into it to further minimize. 18 were single hair grafts, 177 double’s, 117 were 3-4 hair grafts.
  16. Thx for the nice comments guys, I concur! This is a very aesthetically pleasing result and makes a big difference in her appearance. I’ve seen some great female hairline reconstruction results from Dr. Wong over the years and this one ranks right up there.

  18. FYI, We've changed the city of Lugano to Milan for Dr. Wong's second stop on his October trip to Europe. For those who have already signed up, we'll be in touch to provide you the necessary details.
  19. Vancouver area female in her 30’s with good donor hair. Dr. Wong and team transplanted an efficient 1272 grafts to rebuild a more favorable feminine hairline eliminating the recession. Of the 1272 grafts, 557 were single hair grafts, 615 were doubles and 100 were 3-4 hair grafts. These photos were taken 13 months post-op.
  20. Thanks PeloDinero! Agree on both counts. I missed the placement shot earlier, here it is.
  21. Vancouver area patient around 60 years old at the time of his procedure. Dr. Hasson and team transplanted 4,200 densely packed grafts via FUT to rebuild the hairline, frontal zone and mid scalp. 1214 were single hair grafts, 2843 were doubles and 143 were 3-4 hair grafts. Hair shaft caliber was on the finer side but the overall donor hair characterizes were ideal. These photos were taken at the clinic just short of 14 months post-op.
  22. Thanks for the comments guys! Whiskey, Coverage area and density would only be estimates and I’m not sure it is that relevant. We get these questions about grafts per sq cm from time to time but factors such as hair shaft diameter can make one 45 grafts per sq centimeter result look thicker than a result packed at 60 per sq cm. For this reason, the numbers are not as important and can be deceiving so we don’t place emphasis on them. In the end, a certain amount of density is required for a natural result and the doctors will place the appropriate density for each particular case. Gasthoerer, I have more pics but not anything much different than is presented here. Would you like to see some grafts before insertion? Sean, I agree. Densedream, I think the simple answer could be twofold. Keeping in mind we can harvest larger sized grafts with FUE and he had a large number of 3-4 hair grafts, we can conclude this 846 grafts FUE is comparable to 1,000 to 1,100 grafts FUT. Also, as Tundra has pointed out, it is possible some of his fine hair could have responded nicely to the medication and had a hand in the improved the overall density.
  23. *Lugano has been changed to Milan* Dr. Wong will be back in Milan and Rome Italy again this year for his annual visit. This trip will also include the much-anticipated return to the UK where he has not been in the last few years. He is excited to meet new prospective patients in London this year as well as returning to Rome and Milan. If you’d like to meet Dr. Wong and discover what he can do for you, reserve your spot visit here:https://hassonandwong.com/european-consultation/ You can learn more about his trip and also register here: https://hassonandwong.com/europe-2018-hair-transplant-consultations/ We expect high demand and there are a limited number of spots so don’t wait too long to sign up!
  24. PeloDinero, Yes, his donor was above average and on the upper end of the rating scale. Most do not have his donor reserves. I would say the efficiency of the harvest has allowed for a larger donor bank but these efficiencies/technologies at our clinic are nothing new and have been in place for many years. One important factor is our ability to harvest a large number of grafts in session one. The fewer interventions, the more efficient. For instance, if we figured he has 10,500 total grafts to start, we would be able to access all of those with a very large session (5,000 +) and 1-2 subsequent procedures. If our skill and technology limited our sessions to 2,500 to 3,000 grafts or less, we would not likely be able to access all of the 10,500 grafts.
