  1. Hello Herakles I'm not familiar with what's available in Australia, but there's always more than one option. Why not post some pics of your hair so the rest of us can give an opinion?
  2. Hey NoComb I saw your photos on your earlier post about switching meds. I can't tell for sure, but it looks as if your hair is fairly dense on the sides and I would assume on the back as well. You could get a transplant and it may look good for a year or two. But if you're genetically predisposed (did I say that right?) to lose all of your hair by the time you reach 30, the transplant would be a waste of time and money. Not to mention the fact that you would have permanent scars as a result. I wouldn't want to make that gamble. However, there are other solutions. I don't necessarily advocate any of them, but you may want to look into them. (A.) Dr. Feller made a recent post about platelet rich plasma as a hair restoration treatment. (I'm still doing research on that one) (B.) If you look good with a shaved head, (I don't) you may want to consider that. (C.) Apparently there have been great advancements in hair pieces and systems. And once again, I'm not advocating. If you read other threads on this forum, you'll see strong arguments for and against. I'm just trying to make sure you're aware of all your options.
  3. Hey Mav You didn't answer my question about shaving. Now that I've seen your photos, it appears you have a "Jason Statham" head. I really envy you guys that can look good shaved. And don't assume that the ladies won't like it. (May have to have an athletic bod to go along with it) I don't know if you can tell by my photo, but my head is so big, I can't even buy hats that fit. (The disadvantage of having a large brain I suppose)
  4. Hello Maverick I'm sorry. I don't see any photos of you by which to make a judgement . However, I would say that if you're pushing a Norwood 6, it would probably take much more than 6000 grafts to have a good result. And do you have that much doner hair? If you realy hate the hairpiece, have you considered the shaved look? I'm no expert, I just wanted to give you my two cents.
  5. I have to say I'm a little skeptical because the hair is parted differently in the two photos and appears to be more damp in the after photo. If there is new growth, it shouldn't be as long as the existing hair. I don't know anything about PRP so I'm going to do some research. If it turns out to be the "real deal" and is less expensive than a hair transplant, I may consider it myself.
  6. I admit it's immature to poke fun at anyone for anything. I sometimes do however, unless I know it hurts their feelings. And people make fun of me, also. But there is no comparing losing your hair to obesity. Obesity is something you do to yourself and can be reversed with will power. (diet and exercise) I wish that were true with hair loss.
  7. I had a consultation at Medical Hair Resoration a few years ago. Now I've been getting emails saying that Bosley and MHR have merged. They are offering 20% discounts to promote the merger, but I would need a 95% discount before I could afford it. Does anyone know how Bosley, PAI and Hair Club compare (price wise) to the private practices?
  8. Wow ! ! ! All the posts in this thread were just what I needed to hear. But I still need to hear more. I'm like Chris. Really stressing over my hair loss. Not to the point of clinical depression or suicide, but very stressful. I would just shave my head but I know I can't "carry off" that look. There's no way I can afford a procedure at this point. This recessive economy has all but made me homeless. I was considering offering myself as a "guinea pig" for new surgeons to practice on. (if there is such a thing) But now I know I definitely don't want a botched procedure. Does anyone know of a way a person living in poverty can get a transplant? I'm sure your feeling is that should be the least of my concerns. And I should worry about a roof over my head and food on the table. But believe it or not, (and I wont go into details now) but a full head of hair would be one step in the path of my getting out of poverty. I want to say to Chris - Hang in there, buddy! You're not alone. If you feel like the Lone Ranger, then I'm your Tonto. And there's many more just like us.
