  1. Wasn't this the same discovery I saw on TV like 6-7 years ago? I could have sworn it was on the Today show with Matt as well. If it's the same study they've had years to turn it into something and haven't. Not excited about it at all.
  2. Ten years...well at least the stem cells are there. I just wonder how hard it will be turning the "working" cells on.
  3. Since my problem could be hormonal (and it's been a year), would something like PRP be an option to help my hair? I know it's not proven to help with MPB, but thought it might kick mine back into gear.
  4. I have been diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue, so I do think most of it is hormonal. Rogaine foam is probably mixed in there exacerbating the problem as well. I don't know if it's hereditary, I just figured it is probably playing a role as well. When I wash my hair it's rare anymore not to have sheds. My hair is very thin and frail most times (although sometimes it does have a thicker texture every month or so for about two weeks). While the overall texture of my hair thickens, I haven't really seen the old hair from my sheds growing back. Just kind of giving up hope of stopping it or getting it to come back. Even if it's hormonal how can the follicle stay alive when it's dormant for such prolonged periods of time? It could be a while before all the doctors I've seen are able to get a grasp of this.
  5. What is this matthew gardson's method? Couldn't find much about it online at all. Seems a bit strange.
  6. About the same time I started noticing my hair loss I was diagnosed with adrenal gland problems (along with the rest of my endocrine system). I wonder if anyone has heard if the hair returns when the problem is corrected? I've been taking Rogaine which seems to make more hair fall out at times (constantly in my hands while washing my hair). It's getting pretty thing on the top. The interesting thing is my hair seems to go in cycles. It starts to thicken up and not fall out, then gets thin and frail and falls out again a few weeks later. I'm sure genetic hair loss is part of it, but it's really been playing with my mind.
  7. Not too promising when right on their blog they say "There is still no “cure” for Androgenetic Alopecia. Although there are many promising treatments currently in development, it is unlikely that any of these therapies will be able to reach the market before a considerable amount of safety trials have been conducted in a controlled and clinical setting." Translated...we have nothing and are stalling for time.
  8. I posted this in another thread, but didn't receive and answer. I was wondering how many shedding cycles normally occur? I experienced heavy shedding for the first 3 1/2 to 4 months, then my hair looked noticeably thicker for about two weeks, now it's falling out heavily again and looks as bad as when I first started. Is this what I can expect for the duration of it's use or will it ever level off?
  9. How many different shedding cycles can one expect? I've been on it for about four months now and up until about three weeks ago had noticeably thicker hair. My hair then began to shed again and looks just as bad as when I started. It really plays with your head.
  10. Is anyone familiar with this condition or it's treatments? Thanks!
  11. I started Rogaine almost three months ago and had incredible amounts of shedding. I started losing my mind it got so bad. Now things have gotten much better and I'm even seeing tiny black hairs pop up in the temples where there hasn't been hair in years. I have no idea how long Rogaine is effective for (months, years), but I'm starting to get my confidence back.
  12. Would the FDA have to approve this treatment since they are only using the patients own cells much like PRP?
  13. I know it's normal for shedding to occur during the first few months of Rogaine and I intend on continuing it's usage. On a bi daily basis I have quite a number of thin hairs mixed with a few thicker on my hands after it's application. My question is does this mean it's working and they will grow back? I've heard some people are more susceptible than others is this an indication? Thanks!
  14. Does anyone know what they presented at the conference?
  15. PanamaJimmy, Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! I'll stay on it! It's hard to know which information you find on the net is valid and paranoia like you said. I plan on looking into finding a generic brand tomorrow. You know...It's a good thing I don't have any other vices to pour my money into! Speaking of paranoia on the net, I started googling Rogaine shedding and well let's just say I hope they are as off base as they seem (esp the the hairline shedding won't come back). Thanks again for your reply!
  16. Thank you for the welcome and advice! I'm open to trying Propecia if it works that well. I've read the side effects are actually very limited. My question is do they continue after you stop taking them? The other question I have for you is with the large number of hairs that fell out today (which hasn't ever happened before that I can remember) is that just normal shedding which can happen at the start of Rogain? Oh, thanks for the Nizoral advice I'll be buying some tonight!
  17. I started losing my hair along the hairline 5 years ago (I'm now 31). It's been going back slowly along the hairline, but in the past 6-8 months it's started to really fall out on the top and crown at an alarming rate. Even my hairdresser said wow it's really going fast last Saturday. I've been using Procerin XT pills and foam for two and a half months with limited results (Small growths on hairline) The laser comb for 3 weeks Rogain Foam for a week (in combination with Procerin foam because I'm afraid of losing even the limited growth obtained if I stop and just use Rogain) Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner (every other day for a month) DS Revita Hair Growh Stimulating Shampoo (every other day for a month) My goal is to just keep what I have. Obviously I'd love my old hair to grow back, but just stopping it would at least give me hope and take me out of the despair I find myself in. May sound stupid, but if I'm ever lucky enough to get married I'd love to have some hair left in pictures. As you can see I'm trying pretty much everything I can think of (other than prescription pills which I'm afraid of due to side effects). I had hope for things to get better after using these products for 6 months...until today when I was shampooing my hair and saw about 20 hairs on my hand. I rinsed my hand and ran it through my hair again and had similar results. This hasn't happened before to such a large degree. Is it because of the products I'm using or just DHT whacking more of my hair? Can I do anything else to slow it down and keep it? Thank you for any and all help/advice you can give me!
