  1. Are Trichophytic closures the gold standard or is there a debate about what the best technique is. Also, If I have a Trichophytic closure performed now and have another procedure in 5 years, will it affect how many grafts that can be harvested since some of the hairs will be embedded in the scar?
  2. I would like to be able to buzz my back and sides down with a 2 or 3 guard. Do you think this is realistic and the donar scar won't be detectable? I have dark (almost black) hair with medium skin tone. Does hair color make a difference? Please share your experiences and how short you are able to wear your hair. I plan on going to Dr. Rahal in 1 to 2 years.

  4. Ng2gb, This is a great topic and one that I am very interested in. I think if you have a density of 60-70 grafts dense-packed in the hairline, then you will be able to style your hair anyway you want. For me, I have to ask myself if I mind having a thin crown and a dense hairline later in life should I progress to a NW5 or higher. I have concluded that this is acceptable to me and actually preferable to have moderate to low density over my entire head. I think you can be a NW1.5 with a thinning crown and still look normal. However if you have a NW0 (juvenile hairline), Armani hairline with a thinning crown, that might look a little bizzare.
  5. Looking at pushing40's results, it appears to me that he has enough density to style it any way he wants. Even at 6 months, when he has it combed back and wet, the density looks good enough to go with numerous hairstyle. Pushing40, do you have any dermatch or other product in your hair in those pictures?
  6. Armani's ethics do come into question because of the aggressive hairlines he has performed on such young patients. He gets alot of praise for his results, which look incredible on his website, but I have concerns about his results. You won't notice it on his website, but if you look at some of the forums where Armani patients have posted results and take a close look at their hairlines. The density is phenomonal, but it is too strait of a line. It does not look natural to me. I am not talking about the design and placement of the hairline, but the placement of the hairs in the front. They are not zig-zagged. It is a much "harder" looking hairline to me. I think H&W, Rahal and some of the others produce a softer more natural hairline. I have minimal hairloss and am 30, so I am looking for an aggressive hairline myself. Putting ethics aside, I still probably would not pick Armani because of what I have seen with that abrubt hairline.
  7. Thanks for the feedback. It is very helpful. From my exposure to this online community, i have learned how important it is to have a long term plan before undergoing a procedure. My thoughts are that if 1-2 years from now, it looks like my hairloss is stable, then I can go for 2500 grafts in the area that I have drawn in the pictures. I imagine this will give me great density and may even exceed the density I currently have in my forelock since that is starting to get weak. I would have to plan on another procedure 5-10 years later since I think my forelock will eventually thin out over time(maybe not with proscar though :-). What are your guys thoughts on having some grafts placed in my forelock on the first procedure to help delay the time needed for a 2nd procedure? I plan on having a consultation with Dr. Rahal and getting his opinion too, but always like to hear what others have to say.
  8. Hi everyone, I have been an avid reader on this community for the past 4 months. I plan on getting a hair transplant procedure done within 1 to 2 years from now. After spending a lot of time researching different doctors and viewing many peoples results on this site, I have put Dr. Rahal as my number one choice at this point. This is mainly for his ability to create density and his ability to create ascetically pleasing hairline design/placement. I have created a weblog with photos and would like some feedback on whether you think the hairline placement I have drawn on my head is attractive, too aggressive or about right. I think this aspect of hair restoration gets overlooked often and it is one of my most important concerns. I have seen patient results where the hair density is fabulous, but the actual shape of the hairline does not look attractive or natural. I'm not sure if it is because the docs went with a standard U or V shape and did not take into account the shape of the patients head? Please take a look at my photos and thank you all for providing such an informative forum. P.S. I just started taking 1/4 proscar 2 months ago. I am 30 years old.
