Do you need a special tool?

Has anyone had a friend or family member remove their staples rather than go to a doctors office?
-
Looks really good for 5 months. I would expect it to look amazing in another 2-3 months. Could you post some pictures with your hair wet and combed back so we can see the hairline?
-
As long as you are conservative with your hairline and expectations you'll be fine.
I don't agree with this. If you are destined to be a NW7 you will not be fine even if you are conservative. Some people will end up with a thin, see-through strip around their head by the time they are 60 (NW7). If based on your family history, you think you will not progress pass a NW6 and your donor is very thick, then you may be a good candidate. All the more reason to consult with an ethical doctor who can assess your situation.

Azza,
Best of luck. I hope things turn out well for you. It looks like it may have come in thicker in the temples than in the front center area. Is that right?

I am very curious about how this would work out if you were almost totally out of donor hair and you wanted to cover a medium sized spot on the vertex. Maybe using 60% scalp and 40% pubic hair? It would be nice to know that you have a large emergency reserve of donor hair.
I have enough pubes to give Vern Troyer a mop (frizzy afro) of hair.
Someone please have this procedure done and then post your results on this forum. I would do it, but I don't want to risk looking like a freak, so one of you guys give it a shot. Thanks in advance.

Wantego,
Thanks for sharing. I was glad to hear about the surgical hats. As silly as it may sound, I have been worried about how to handle the whole hat thing on the flight home.

It seems that the average person can hide their scar with a 3-4 guard, but I have seen a few people with sessions less than 3000 that can go down to a #1 guard and still disguise their scar. Is this because they had a smaller session or does it just have more to do with other individual factors?

MP96,
Thanks for posting the scar pic. I actually can't even tell where the scar is or see it at all, which is a good thing. It is crazy because I can see your scalp in the back, but I still can't find the scar!

Looks awesome. The hairline design is perfect. It frames your face really well. I like the spikey hair style as well. Can you post some pictures of the back? How short is the back cut. Is the scar really undetectable at that length?

I have never put much faith in body hair, but I must say that I am impressed with Dr. Umar's result on this patient. If these results can become consistent with BHT it would give many of us a backup reserve of hair to use if we run out of donor.

Restart2008,
Any updates?

This is what I do. Draw the hairline on your head and then color it in with dermatch. It helps you visualize what you will look like with the area filled in with hair and you can experiment with different designs. Some docs take great pride in the hairline design and will also provide great input. Other docs seem to focus less on it.

He mentioned also that he was not expecting a "mountain of hair". Maybe his hair is very hard to manage at this point, but from what I have heard, the transplanted hair eventually tames down after a year or so and is easier to style and manage. Can any of you veterans attest to this?

MP96,
What do you mean when you say: "it bleeds now because plastic stuff underneath and graphs."
What is the plastic stuff?
Do you have any pictures of what it looked like before you shaved it on the right side so I can see what you are describing?
When I look at your pictures I think you hair looks awesome. Your result is a big part of the reason I plan on going to Rahal.

Does a NW4 have a bigger donor supply than a NW6 considering donor laxity and everything else are equal? Can you access this additional donor via strip, or would it have to be via FUE?

Look's great! It is very encouraging to see that you have enough density to spike it up with gel.

I have been taking propecia for 8 months and noticed at the 6 month mark that I started shedding less hair in the shower. I don't believe I have had any regrowth, but my goal is to keep what I have with Propecia.

I think it is important to look at patient photo albums that are posted by the patients themselves in addition to what the doctors or doctors' representatives post. The Doctors are wisely going to post their best work. A good tool to use for research is looking at patient web-logs. They are usually submitted by the patient and are often un-solicited, so they are a better depiction of reality.
I think a lot of the Doctors listed above have achieved success from good online promotion, but also from word of mouth on these forums that comes as a result of quality, consistent work.

Thanks for posting that link Bill. I did not know that another thread existed on this topic, so therefore I did not read it. So if it was just a picture of someone cutting grafts, that is not a big deal. I thought they may have actually posted pictures of patients that were not their own based on the accusatory email. I don't think they were intentionally trying to deceive anyone by posting the picture of another clinic cutting grafts.

you have taken a picture of Joe Tillman, a patient of Dr Wong of Hassen and Wong, and put a picture that he took of himself on your website as if he were your patient.
Is this true or is it a false accusation?

I am 30 with minimal loss that is limited to the temples, but I still worry about my mpb progressing. That is why I do not want to risk fue because of possible low yeild and also the possibility of injuring adjacent follicles in the donor region.
On the flip side, I really want to be able to go to a 3 guard. If I can't go to a 4 guard, then the procedure would be a loss.
Hmmm, the dilema.
