grafts/cm??

I was reading on Shapiros website that they can do 20-25 grafts per cm. I thought I read some post of people who went much more than that. Is 20-25 per cm about the norm to expect from a ht? Or can you go more dense than that? Also I have never tried toppic, where do you purchase this? Thanks for everyones help.

I think that website is probably outdated. I'm sure Shapiro can go denser than that. There are many factors to look at when considering density. Much depends on your donar hair, area you need to cover, future donar needs, how it fits in with your existing hair, etc.

If possible, you should at least go with 30/cm2 to get a minimal illusion of density. There are many subtle factors to density. The frontal forelock should be densely packed to give a better overall appearance of density.

It can depend on your age also. A 50 year old with a dense wall of hair for the hairline won't look very natural in most cases. A more feathered look will look better. Plus you'll need a lot of hair behind a dense wall to make it look even. You're talkin about using tremendous amounts of limited donar hair when you go with extreme density.

Gorphy, Ya I was wondering if maybe the website was outdated. I have a fair amount of hair now. I have a pretty strong hairline, but behind the hairline its thin, and my hairline could be thickened up a bit. I am going to go in and chat with the doc next week to get a good idea of what to expect fom an outcome, Im hoping to go in for 2500-3000, but well see what the doc says. Also how is your progress coming?

does anybody know how many grafts per/cm can be done successfully in a single session? I am really trying to get an understanding of density and setting realistic expectations, thanks.

Troy, the density issue can be very tricky. I've heard of some doctors trying to set records by packing 100+ grafts per/cm2. While that is probably possible, it doesn't say anything about how many of those will grow.

Gorphy, thank-you that was exactly what I was looking for. Im going to meet with Dr Rose and try to get my final game plan togather density will be at the top of that discussion. I am very fortunate that Shapiro medical is only 15 minutes from my home. Im less than 30 days from my ht, Ive only told my mom, I have a huge very close family. I will tell all of them at a later date. I just want to see if anyone will notice. Anyway my sister called and asked me if I could watch her kids, I guess I had to do the old ht shuffle and skirt around why I couldnt do it, lol. thanks again
